Military Rejects Call To Take Over Power, Declares Loyalty To Buhari by Shukushaka: 7:08am On May 04, 2021
The military authorities yesterday rejected a call by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Robert Clarke for it to take over power and declared loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Constitution.

It also restated its commitment to democratic rule.

The military authorities further issued a stern warning to military personnel contemplating any treasonable act to desist from doing so, saying the full wrath of the law would be brought upon them.

The declaration of loyalty to the president followed a comment attributed to Clarke, calling on government to hand over to the military for the purpose of restructuring Nigeria.

A statement issued by the Director, Defence Information (DDI), Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the loyalty of the military establishment was irrevocable

“The attention of the military high command has been drawn to a statement purported to have been made by one Robert Clark (SAN), suggesting that the current political leadership should hand over power to the military for the purpose of restructuring.

“The Nigerian Military wishes to dissociate itself from such anti-democratic utterance and position. Let it be stated categorically that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remains fully committed to the present administration and all associated democratic institutions”, it said.

The Defence Headquarters maintained that: “We shall continue to remain apolitical, subordinate to the civil authority, firmly loyal to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“We shall continue to discharge our constitutional responsibilities professionally, especially in protecting the country’s democracy, defence of the territorial integrity of the country as well as protection of lives and properties of citizens”.

“The military high command wishes to use this opportunity to warn misguided politicians who nurse the inordinate ambition to rule this country outside the ballot box to banish such thoughts as the military under the current leadership remain resolute in the defence of Nigeria’s Democracy and its growth”, it said.

The DHQ further stated that it amounted to treason for any military personnel to contemplate such act.

“We also wish to remind all military personnel that it is treasonable to even contemplate this illegality. The full wrath of the law will be brought to bear on any personnel found to collude with people having such agenda.

“The current security challenges are not insurmountable. The Armed Forces of Nigeria in partnership with other security agencies are working assiduously to ameliorate the challenge. Nigeria will know peace again. Please be warned!”, it said

The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, stated this in a statement in Abuja.

The Fulani led institutions will always fix a southerner as spokesperson strategically to hide their evil agenda but they don't see southerners deserving to head the institutions.
Spokespersons of the:
Nig.Army, Nig.police, DSS, Areas Consultative forum(Christian)...
That's how zombies especially southerners are always in nairaland speaking for them and defending their ills and atrocities. That was how they used MBAKA when he was indirectly their spokesman before em eyes clear after dem dump am.
Pathetic!

Lol...

Now, I miss President Abba Kyari. At least, while he held sway, things weren't this chaotic nationwide and at the Presidency.

What a country.

If things were being handled rightly and fairly will all these nonsense be happening? Threaten them as you like, if they want to overthrow the mannequin in Aso Rock, they will and your likes will do nothing. All of you will be parked in one dark dungeon.

Some indeed quoted him as saying " Nigerians hate me but they don't know the chaos the country will descend into in my absence..." Turned out Mr Kyari was speaking the truth. SMH! That vegetable in power is the worse thing that ever happened to Nigeria

Re: Military Rejects Call To Take Over Power, Declares Loyalty To Buhari by Nobody: 7:34am On May 04, 2021
The so-called Mr. Robert Clarke is a dunce.

We can all see how Buhari is stifling our basic human rights as a democratically elected president, now you can imagine the horrors he committed in the 1980's when he was a dictator and the law himself.

Most of the advances we have in Nigeria today, even militarily, were put in motion under democracy.

Shagari modernized the Army during his short stint as president and bought many of the tanks and other heavy weapons they're using today.

Babangida destroyed the Air Force after a failed coup attempt where the coupists planned to use Air force jets to destroy Army reinforcements.

And even if the military stepped in, do you really think they can win this war or end insecurity?

You expect people who cannot control an army to control a country?

Dunces.

The Military wont even be able to solve the crisis even if they take over. So God forbid bad thing.
The massive insecurity in the land is an indictment on the Military. The whole world is watching what is going on. That is why they dont rate our Military as high as it is supposed.
But the Military personnel when posted to international duties they outperform their counterparts by a wide margin.
So something is wrong somewhere
