Which of these course guarantees a better life after graduation?

Ps: I have passion for medicine and surgery but I don't want to pursue that passion cause of the length and complications of studying it in Nigeria. So I am looking for a better alternative in either pharmacy or civil engineering, please I really need your sincere opinions(preferably from experts in either fields).
Need something lucrative in Nigeria and abroad(the money is needed oo, studying in Nigeria is hard enough).
My guy get the admission first abeg ?

Lol... That is not even the point.

A pharmacist can lend out his license and be collecting salary every month or annually without working.

Basically, whichever course is better depends on individuals but if you come here to make career decisions you will end up more confused because some persons will still tell you their own course is better even if they are only using it to teach mathematics in private schools presently. lol
The best Teacher in the school am working studied Civil engineering too. He is teaching primary pupils Mathematics

I am a civil engineer and I would definitely advise you to do civil engineering.

Nigeria is a developing nation, construction going up and down, you would definitely see jobs to do.

don't worry about quacks in the building industry. most clients would still call you when their buildings and other structures start experiencing cracks.

I’m currently studying Civil Engineering [400L] in one of the prominent institutions in Ondo State

They are all rubbish........

To acquire a skill, set it up and build your financial life. Later u might go for an online course if u so need it. The time you'll waste reading those courses is enough for you to turn things around for yourself

Lol... delusion.

What is delusional here?

I am a Civil Engr and have so many colleagues, my brother in-law is a pharmacist, I have 2 cousins as pharmacist and almost married one.

I have an elder relative who is a Civil Engr, he did a job worth N20m but was not paid for 7yrs, he was broke having difficulty in paying house rent but his N20M was paid one day. He became his own landlord in less than 3 months.

What kind of job will a pharmacist do to be paid N5m in a day?

The bottom Civil Engrs earn lower than pharmacists but the middle and upper civil engrs cannot be compared in terms of income to pharmacists.

Even Medical Drs don't earn as much as Civil Engrs in the peak of their careers.

My uncle is a top Consultant Gynecologist, who has been a Dean faculty of medicine. I wrote Jamb in his house but today what I earn is just shy of his.

It is easier for an average Civil Engr to start a business and earn 100m than for a pharmacist or even a Medical Dr

Check my posts, I am an architect!
Why choosing a career path, what is considered is worst case scenario, not hopeless assumptions. How many pharmacist do we have in secondary schools teaching physics & maths compare to civil engrs??
Many of u civil engrs struggle with us to survive!
How many road & bridge project dey for Nigeria?
U all rely on buildings to survive, so I know what I am saying. There is no way a honest person will compare civil engr with pharmacy, survival wise! U want to compare construction with health??
Why do u think the health sector requires strict regulation all over the world? Incase u don't know, no profession can measure with health!

Well, I don't have much to say let the OP do what suits him best. I clearly stated that I am only trying to explain things from the civil engineering point of view. This things still depend on God and the individual involved. So I rest my case. But you will agree with me that even as an Architect if you know what you're doing even as a student you can still make some little money whilst in school sef. Construction will keep on growing as the population increases same as health...And the end of the day it's the individual that matters.

If job doesn't come, you open a pharmacy store.
Medical line is still the best

On point
I m a civil engr but ended up as a banker. If I leave banking it is not easy to go back to civil engr work
Is there hope for civil engr without connections for contracts. Aside big construction coy. People prefer using bricklayers, welders for engr work directly
Other civil engr can quote me if I m wrong

hahahaha, one gets contract more in civil engineering then chemical engineering, chemical engineering is limited either in the oil sector or chemical industry, but civil engineering is not that limited, one can get work easily.

I am sorry to say, but you do not sound like a civil engineer and secondly, I do not believe civil engineering in Nigeria is lucrative because we have alot of foreign expatriates who do the bulk of the civil engineering activities in the country.

Remember they are under obligations to employ Nigerians, so not all the work are being done by expatriates.

After graduation, you most know somebody when know somebody when know somebody before you go get job for that course when you study.

Instead, use the money wen you wan use take pay your acceptance fee, school fees, rent and others take start business.

You don't need any certificate to start any spare part selling business.

How about going with your passion? Which of the two fields do you have a passion for? If you decide to go with how much you will be earning, you might get frustrated along the way.

I know my advice is coming late but study a course that will help you to japa when the time comes. Easier to settle down in the labour market - certifications and examinations.

You need to be ann Engr to understand, most of those expats you see are Project
managers, CEOs or COOs. Those who do the actual work are Project Engrs and you will not find expats at that level

You explained my situation, it's either I get a good consultancy firm and focus more on designs, this field/site thing stresses me mentally.
crossfire47:
Can you Endure trekking kilometers under very scorching Sun and dusty environments while brainstorming and performing calculations at the same time? Can you endure extreme physical stress? Civil Engineering is just like being in the military but without Guns. I studied civil engineering because I loved calculations (I did well in math, physics and further math) but as I progressed in it, I realized that the life under the sun wasn't for me and I was more of an office person, I didn't fancy going to work in the field and coming back looking all dirty and blackened by the sun. As we speak, m looking for a way out of the Engineering field (looking closely at IT). Growing up, we didn't have mentors to detail what we were going into as Civil Engineers, sometimes I feel like am in the wrong field. Am saying all these for you to have a picture of what the life of a Civil Engineer may look like.

Can one japa with EEE?

EEE - Electrical and electronics engineering? If so, yes. This depends on the career route you take with it - MSc Computer Science or tech developer will it hasten your japa process than say working in power generation firm. Use the degree and enter the digital industry as it has lots of jobs. EEE is a good degree to build digital skills on. As an example, there are over 10K developer jobs advertised on South Africa's LinkedIn website and over 19K jobs in Singapore'e tech industry were left unfilled because of lack of skilled personnel. Huge demand as a result of weak supply which will translates to high salaries.
