Ofodirinwa:
sick fool.

You sure know a sick fool when see one, right? But wait until you find yourself in a position of leadership and find yourself in this kind of jam. Repeated kidnappings with no end sight and with no security apparatus under your bet to command.

If it was his son that was there, would he have made such statement?

The question i will like to ask Mr governor is if your children was among the students kidnapped, will you approve the bombing of the bandits. Empathy and compassion is really far from our leaders. What happened to negotiating with the bandits get the students out and bomb the living dead out of the bandits after securing all the hostages, but no, you will rather bomb everybody together. SAD MUCH.

Many investors have invested hugely into private university business with the hope that Nigeria will become educational hub to many African prospective students, the upsurge in kidnapping of students will definitely doom their plans and future investors may likely look for elsewhere. Insecurity kills economy

Investor leaving the country is in public domain. The reason surely has something to do with our country risk rating. You dont want to invest in a country that the US, EU and Britain had signaled that its collapse is imminent.

I totally agree with the part that no negotiations with terrorist,

I don’t agree with the part of killing innocent students or victims coz of the negligence of both state , federal and locals that aid and abets criminals

MY brother, its not as straightforward as you would think. When it is not your own blood that is held by the bandits, its easy to say, "no negotiation with Bandits" however when your relative is involved, you will definitely have a change of view.

For me, I would say there should be no negotiations with Bandits/Terrorist when all the security arms of the country are up and doing, this is unfortunately not what is obtainable here, our security architecture is in a serious mess now, and to me, do all you can to get your relatives or loved ones out from the grip of those terrorists when they are held captive, as it is now everyone for his/her self, even if it means paying Ransome to get them out, by God's grace, source for it and get them out.

In a more civilized clime, where things are functional, this is where that saying works, as everyone is a testament to an efficient and well-oiled state security architecture. Even over there, relatives of abducted persons have 100% confidence in their security structure, in Nigeria, how many of us have that same confidence here?

I know a story of a man that went to report a case of kidnapping to a police Post, the officers on duty asked him to calm down that they (the kidnappers ) will surely call and state their terms..... just imagine. So do not be fast to conclude on no negotiation with bandits in the Nigeria context, just because you are not affected.

May God see us through the trying times.

That was a better option but how the terrorist became aware and slipped off should concern us greatly.

Upton:

Omo, Leadership is not easy especially when you are dealing with terrorists. Some leaders will prefer to negotiate because they don't want to lose innocent lives but if you decide to attack, be ready to pay a price. So it's kind of contradictory for you to agree with the no negotiations part and not agree with the part of losing some of the abductees.
Bro don't let them deceieve us.. Both bandit and bokoharam are their boys(political boys).. If they want to stop them today they can.. They have turned it to political business for any politician.. And this el rufai is not left behind.. I don't trust the man.. He is wicked and dangerous you know he is so quite but don't trust the man

I'm not sure if the problem is negotiating, the problem is that we don't have a solid security structure in place to prevent or repel the kidnappers in the future.

The only thing we can all agree on is that the government at all levels have failed us in terms of providing adequate security.

You all don't see the loopholes in his story, The air force and army assured him they know their location and have been encircled, next minutes they said they slipped away. How can a group of less than 50 people slip away after u have encircled them. There are ways attack can be done to minimize collateral damage, the military should know better. The America citizen that was kidnapped didn't spend 48 hrs before the rescue mission came to secure him, without paying a dime. How can local bandit be more intelligent than trained military personnel.

Imagine them giving Elrufai a platform to spew this trash.

here is the tactics of the Terrorist called Bandits

kidnapped series of victims in different areas, killed out of them to faster the Ransom, ransom paid by some set of kidnapped people then kidnapped another to shield from Military bombardment

they release some and kidnapped some not only for ransom but for shield. this is what govt should have done if they're serious, all the forest in north should have security camp, trained police force, the useless SARS should be posted there while army camp should not be far from there

if you don't take this war to these miscreants, we will just continue talking and granting unproductive interview

can't you see that what is happening now is a plan to that end? They tried stopping western education with the quran, it didn't work then bombs and guns it still didn't work so now they have adopted the slide of hand to keep us focused on the AK-47 with little or no attention to the polls and administration, while they push thier stooges and puppet masters into the running of the country, different approaches same results, we go soon see malam as governors of Benue, Enugu, Imo, or even Ebonyi. E don tey wey dem de plan am Boko Haram, fulani herdsmen, and unknown gun men are just side bars to the main agenda, and there's nothing you or I can do about it now cos they forced some idiotic, stupid, money driven politicians on the country Nigeria at all levels and regions so deep and high such that they don't have a choice but keep those with the true Nigerian and african spirit out of power for fear of retribution, the only way to go now is not secession (as promising as it maybe) the only way to go is the Rawlings way. If you know you know. God bless the Nigeria of my dreams

Amaechi2023:
thank you.
Most nairalanders are too lazy to face the reality on ground.
Elrufai has stated the obvious fact.
Rather than keep paying cash ransome while they keep expanding their base it's better we face the reality and admit to the fact of casualties.
May God guide el-rufai in his decision making.

BUT BUT HE DECLARED GOODLUCK INCOMPETENT WHEN IT WAS WITH HIM, THAT GEJ NEEDED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE BANDITS.
BUT NOW HE SHOULD RIDE ON, AND HE IS MAKING A VERY NICE DECISION.
IF THAT HIS SON WHOM HE HYPOCRITICALLY ENROLLED INTO PUBLIC SCHOOL WAS THERE, WILL HE ACT THE SAME
WILL HE GO TO KILL HIM IN ORDER NOT TO NEGOTIATE THE BANDITS?
