I totally agree with the part that no negotiations with terrorist,

I don’t agree with the part of killing innocent students or victims coz of the negligence of both state , federal and locals that aid and abets criminals

The consequences of "no negotiations" (a position I agree with atm) with terrorists, bandits and kidnappers is that lives will be lost. For any government to take that position they must be on alert, proactive and have high level of intelligence. They also must have dark channels and methods through which they can catch and kill terrorists, kidnappers and bandits before they strike.

This government is yet to tell us the truth about the dramatic escalation of terrorist activities in the country.

Weapons were given to a certain people and pomises were made before election. Unfortunately, the promise couldn't be fulfilled after election (RUGA) and these people with weapons decide to use those weapons to make money for themselves by kidnapping innocent Nigerians.

Government finally realizes they can also make money from paying ransom and that's how kidnapping became the order of the day in Nigeria.

Lemme guess, you got this from your WhatsApp group chat?

If the FGN can collaborate with El-Rufai and give him the necessary support, I believe he has the ball to deal with bandits and terrorists.

NB: I am not a fan of Erufai but let give it to him-He is strong willed and proactive. He also have to work on his PR team.
If his children were among those abducted, would he still be willing to go ahead with the planned bombardment?
Lesson: Politicians never give a damn about what happens to you

Risking the lives of students through an airstrike is not a welcome development he should admit that his state and the federal government has failed to tackle insecurity. May God help our country in Jesus name amen

The best solution is to stop paying ransom. Contact them for negotiation, send a 20man highly trainned specialists to wipe them out. Governors should have tactical team devoid of d armed forces cos they have gone dirty.

Omo, Leadership is not easy especially when you are dealing with terrorists. Some leaders will prefer to negotiate because they don't want to lose innocent lives but if you decide to attack, be ready to pay a price. So it's kind of contradictory for you to agree with the no negotiations part and not agree with the part of losing some of the abductees.

I'm not sure if the problem is negotiating, the problem is that we don't have a solid security structure in place to prevent or repel the kidnappers in the future.

The only thing we can all agree on is that the government at all levels have failed us in terms of providing adequate security.

Another reality we probably will have to live with for some time is that the time for blame game was long gone. We have these menace on our hands already. Govt have failed us, yes but in the situation we've found ourselves, these cases are not going away anytime soon. We have to collectively work our way out of the situation and save one another.

Check some tots;
1. Bandits and Kidnappers have been seen to be working with some village and community heads (some recently arrested). Local governments who should be the nearest channels of intel are near non-existent.
2. Policing structure across localities, communities, and states needs to be well oiled. This is not about who controls what, this is about how intelligence can be fed through defined channels
3. We need to fund security. Like we fund vigilante groups. Like we fund Lagos State Security Trust fund. We need CCTVS, Satellite phones, Walkie-Talkie, Armored Vehicles, Drones, Boats, Bikes, and other security gadgets to be made available to Community Police.
4. We need to drop Politicising security. Amotekun, ESN etc. have been wrongly set-up. Amotekunfor example was a recommendation f the Developmental Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) committee. If you read the document (I will look for it in my archives), their recommendation for regional and community policing was top-notch, but most of these SW governors took the recommendations and chose to do little of it. Graduates should be recruited into regional and community police, sent to police and detective academies, equiped with requisite hardware and Technology, given decent packages and welfare and made to live among the people. That I believe is what Security votes + private sector contributions be channeled towards.

If they were proactive the security situation would have been addressed before it got to this....
So US is not proactive when almost every week, someone enters a large gathering of people and murder them with guns. You can't eliminate bad people and that's why he is giving you the bigger picture: unless you kill these guys, they will never stop. Even US does not negotiate with terrorists and that's why they give travel advisory to their citizens. In Katsina, they were negotiating with the terrorists and in no time, they took over Katsina! He is taking a cue from Katsina and chose to fight. If you have other suggestions to help the situation, share it instead of running their efforts down. Remember that some of our patriotic security personnel die in these operations too and they have families too. Your advice can help too.

You are obviously confused because you are saying two different things at the same time.

If you negotiate, you will save all the lives. The implication is that you will finance the terrorists' activities. They will get more weapons and become deadlier. In fact, you will send a message that your government encourages terrorism and banditry, thus making more people to jump on the bandwagon.

On the other hand, if you attack, there will be collateral damage. In short, you can even lose all the students. The situation is dicey, but el-Rufai raised an important point. If I were in his shoes, I would damn the consequences and attack Even if my kid was involved because paying those idiots means encouraging more people to go into banditry for the money.

Crime must have a dire price and that's why countries tell you that they don't negotiate with terrorists. It takes a brave mind to be a good leader. I can never negotiate with rascals...never! Doing so has a long-term implication that will hurt the society for a long time. Most times, we do the things of today to avert the negative impact it would have tomorrow.

But then, since they paid the ransom to free the students, they should have tracked the bandits and finished them up. After all, el-Rufai claims the military already has details of their location.

He actually did attack....but the kidnappers released the students as the military were closing in on them. El Rufai is also saying that for subsequent ones, he will attack without question.

In as much as I don't support this so called leaders, because they lack ideology.

How can you just be planning to bomb or kills bandits at this period, since decades that this so call bandits as being killing and kidnapping you people in your very sate. Yet you came out to announce to the world that you are coming for them.

I beg your pardon el, who does that ?. You don't need to announce to the public, before you carry out your superficial plan, just do it and let's see and now that you have announced to the world, your enemies will be rightly prepared to face whatever plan you have to execute.

However, I dunno why this political leaders are very docile and in proactive to the life of he's citizens, the problems of Nigeria is in Nigeria and her solutions is right here in Nigeria if you know you know.

Sometimes, killing innocent people to take out criminals is unavoidable, especially when you are fighting a non-conventional war.

The reason why terrorist groups are hard to defeat because of the huge collateral damage that it would incur if you go full force against them.

The United States had to level two Japanese cities (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) to end the Second World War.

I am sure there were innocent children (even newborn babies) in those cities when the atomic bombs were dropped.

But it was a price that had to be paid for peace to be achieved.

If we want to wipe out Boko Haram today, a lot of innocent souls will go with it because Boko Haram fighters use human beings as shields. So, it is hard to kill them without taking an innocent soul along.

it's not all about being correct in the media bro, whatever situation Nigeria finds itself today the masses as much as the leaders have their own share of blame, we all brought it upon ourselves.
When the govt protested against high birthrates, the masses are quick to criticize the policy.
People give birth to children they can't take care of. The result today is banditry.
Now we can continue to sound politically correct like your statement which directly condemn kidnaping but indirectly support negotiation or we learn from our mistakes and grab the bull by the horn by facing the reality and preventing future occurrence.
Imagine how much was paid for the release of ferestry school students and you expect a sane person to quit a job so lucrative as that.

My brother, the el-rufai way is the only way we have now other wise this words of yours is just a mirage, negotiating would only increase the base of the business..
