Even with all this weapons, the terrorists still gave our men a bloody nose undecided

The problem of this war is morale and has nothing to do with weaponry.

NCOs ain’t interested anymore.

There is nothing unbelievable about this it's just standard insurgent warfare. Same thing in Sinai, southern Somalia, Pakistan, Sudan, Afganistan, and the middle east despite intervention from the worlds most powerful militaries for the past 3 dacades. Stop being a drama queen nothing special is going on here.

Any soldier that have spent more than 1 year in Borno and Yobe fighting the insurgents should be redeploy to a peaceful state.

Ha ha . Very young, inexperienced people on Nairaland. So this is a big thing to you?. It is not. It is simple carelessness from the company commander and the NA should start wielding the big stick. Apparently, with good scouting work and a network of watchers you can predict if an attack would be coming but Apparently they did not do this in this case.

The federal republic of Nigeria, once considered the giant of Africa, may be grappling for survival between a rock and a hard place under the leadership of the retired military general, Muhammadu Buhari. This is as growing insecurity envelopes the many regions of Nigeria owing to the aggressive invasion of the killer Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram of the rural communities of the country. Benue State had received the brunt of the killings by the killer Fulani herdsmen – of which estimates place the number of deaths to over 745.

In a recent outcry over the continued lukewarm response to the killings by killer Fulani herdsmen by the President of Nigeria, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom called on the federal government to rise up to their responsibilities of protecting lives and properties – or else – allow the citizens to arm themselves with automatic weapons such as AK47 – the type carried by killer Fulani herdsmen. The Benue State governor stated that the killings can no longer be tolerated by the people of Benue State.

Ortom don finally get sense. Show no mercy to the Fulanis. Kill anything killable.

This people are so ruthless, make sure this vigilante groups are also very very bloody and ruthless. Fulanis are not indigenous in Benue state... Push them out through a bloody violence.

The Lagos State judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses resumed sitting on Saturday with the continuation of the testimony of an EndSARs co-ordinator, Serah Ibrahim.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U110_p92jE

Serah came along with several videos, some of which she said she shot personally with her iPhone.

One after the other, she played the videos which according to her demonstrates that soldiers shot at peaceful protesters on the night of October 20.

As she played the videos, she explained to the panel that soldiers shot at the harmless protesters and even took away some of the dead bodies.

She specifically mentioned that one of the active protesters, Lekan Sanusi was thought to be dead and the soldiers took away his body.

She later found out that he was taken to MRS Hospital at Bonny camp where an unidentified nurse helped him to escape.

Serah also played videos of some persons who suffered gunshot wounds from bullets allegedly shot by the military with protesters surrounding them and trying to tend to their wounds.

When asked if she could authenticate the videos as to the time they were taken and the location, she mentioned that anyone could do this using Google Drive and she proceeded to demonstrate how it could be done.

The videos of two mothers who claimed to have lost their children at the protest ground were also played.

The videos were contained in the flash drive Serah Ibrahim tendered at the last sitting of the panel.

Serah is expected to continue her testimony on May 15.

Lekki Toll Gate Shooting

Serah’s testimony is the latest development in the controversy that has trailed the events at the Lekki toll gate on the night of October 20.

The army has repeatedly denied that it fatally shot at protesters and the Federal Government has said reports of a massacre at the toll gate was fake news.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tto5hpi2-0k

“The purveyors of fake news and disinformation succeeded in deceiving the entire world that there was mass killing in Lekki, even when till date, not a single body has been produced and not a single family or relative has come out to say their child or ward was killed at Lekki toll gate,” Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said at a press briefing in November.

But witnesses, including Nigerian songwriter and musician, Obianuju Udeh, better known as DJ Switch, have insisted that the army took away bodies at the protest ground.

Amnesty International reported that 10 persons died during the event, a figure disputed by the Nigerian government.

The US government, in a human rights report released in March, said “accurate information on fatalities resulting from the shooting was not available” as at the end of 2020.

The EndSARS protests were one of the largest street demonstrations since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999.

The protests, mostly championed by young people, started as a campaign against police brutality but quickly metamorphosed into a rallying cry against bad governance.

The only reason they were able to do that is because they are dealing with unarmed youth and old people. Let them vex say ISWAP they kill their members and attack Gudzmala make them show their ruggedness and bravery.

Let me try this again, as this is a battlefield discussion thread.
Previously, I listed the reasons why I think the Super Camp Strategy (SCS) is not good and doomed to failure. Nobody offered counter arguments, yet people here continue expressing their support for SCS. So I'll change tack:

Other than reducing military casualties, what other advantages does SCS offer, operationally and tactically?

None.
It was done to limit the casualties on Troops.
It would have been successful if we had a proper air surveillance to monitor movements of these AOGs.

Now it has given the AOGs freedom to move around major roads in Borno state. Infact there are some roads these AOGs put up their checkpoints with plastic seats.

With the type of equipments at the disposal of the military, the idea of the Super Camp is not totally out of place. Untill we have proper fit for purpose vehicles and weapons for offensive and other logistics support it's better the soldiers secure themselves and bases first, and other security agencies like the police should be strengthened to carryout their constitutional responsibilities before they should revert to an all out offensive.

The purpose of the super camp strategy is to counter the ability of insurgents to overwhelm smaller outposts. Insurgents have the advantage when it comes to massing forces because it is easy for them to just move with the populace.

The supercamp is a tested strategy used against non state actors. The issue happening here is the NA did not realize (or did not properly plan for it) that this would mean the Frontline changes from the bases to the roads. Based on what I have been seeing, most of the casualties on NA units come from roadside ambushes and only recently have we seen some of these major attacks (of varying degrees of success) on bases.

So I wouldn't say the supercamp strategy is a failure but it's a failure of the NA to properly follow up that strategy with aggressive/constant route patrols.

Only recently did we begin to see brazen attacks against SCs. The rationale behind SC was to prevent smaller bases from being preyed on by the insurgents. Even those smaller bases were haphazardly situated far flung from supplies and poorly built

As usual, like a classic bureaucratic beast, the NA refused to solve root problems and preferred to do cosmetic work.

Like I said when this strategy was just being introduced, if NA don't prepare for mobile warfare, they'd get into a rut. Well here you have it.
