Tips to buying used tyres
Grade: Based on my experience, there are about 3 grades of used tyres.
grade A: This are sparingly used brand new tyres that were removed because of seasonal change i.e winter to summer in countries where such law applies or as a result of periodic changes by the user. Some users might decide to changes their tyres within 8 months,12 months or 18 months regardless of the state of the tyres or the mileage they ran with it. Tyres in this category always come with full thread marks and most times in very healthy state but due diligence still as to be observed when purchasing this types of tyres. You need to check if there are no damage/weakness to any part of the tyres especially to the side wall hence why it was removed prematurely. This sets of tyres are usually kept separately and sold at higher prices compared to other grades.
grade B: Most used tyres falls within this category and you'll find a handfull of them in different sizes. They are tyres that as been used fairly/considerably well by owners and as been considered a loyal servant and is thus worthy of replacement. Most don't come in full thread marks like their grade A counterparts but with little or no damages. They will do the job too but not as much as the grade A.
grade C(aka Malamala): This ones are usually categorised as condemned/damaged tyres due to one damage or the other. Most local vulcanizers usually go for this categories cos of their cheap prices and because they believe the damages can be fixed by them.
I will continue later.

It is always best to go for summer tokunbor tyres as against winter ones. The summer tyres or 'straight line' as coined from the street because of it mostly straight lined thread pattern conforms more with our weather hence offers more usage period. It is becoming more difficult in getting summer tyres in some specific sizes in most tokunbor tyres warehouses in Lagos as most of them are bought are taken to the north, Abuja especially.
