Thank you, I’m coming with my spouse he’s an IT specialist. The school is in London and London is really expensive. My questions:
1) My school is full time, Monday - Friday! 9-4 pm. This means I might only be able to work weekends! Please what opportunities are available for weekend jobs and any idea of the rates?
2) Also accommodation in London is pretty expensive Any ideas about cheap studio places we can stay that’s close to London or cities can we stay outside London where I can still commute to school.
1. Do you mean you'd be posted to a secondary school as a probationary teacher from 9am to 4pm? Is it a salaried placement or not ? If no, you can work on weekend..if yes, ask for a pro rata salary for your 20 hours with the school.

Opportunities like registering with tutorful.co.uk to be doing online Maths lesson or home lessons.

2. Yes, you can. But it is easier and better to always stay closer to your school or workplace.

Thank you for your response and advice.

1) University courses starts in September 9-4pm and by October I will be placed in a school till January. I'll return back to class then go for another school placement by February till April.

Answering your second question, if you are on a really low budget you can check Milton Keynes. I heard accommodation is lesser there nd the commute to london isnt bad. Also i don’t know what your budget is or when u intend coming to london but i have a double ensuite room i rent in east Landon(6 mins to stratford).

Thank you! School resumes September 1ST we hope to be there by mid August

Okay, that's good. Please for the sake of your tier 4 visa, they can not pay more than 20 hours for you, but try and negotiate with the school to let it be pro rata on the legal pay scale for probationary Teachers and not per hourly pay. With that you are covered for your salary payment during secondary school holidays like Christmas, easter, mid term, and bank Holidays. Opportunities also include organising a weekend tutorials in your neighbourhood like this. https://www.saturdayschoolglasgow.com/?utm_source=yell&utm_medium=refferal&utm_campaign=yell

I will.like to answer Q1 as a current PGCE student in the UK.
I strongly reckon that your forget about any job until you are almost done with your course. The first few months into the course was a nightmare for me despite 7 year experience as a maths teacher in Naija. The Educ system is wide and thorough, too many things to get used to as an international student.
Even when you are in school weekdays, you've got planning to do over the weekend cos at some point you workload/timetable will be overwhelming plus Uni assignments, and evidence collection.
PGCE is rigourous but quite rewarding

I am afraid this isn't possible. School placement of the course module: Teaching practice 1 and 2
You teach in school as a trainee and are not eligible for salary. For every time you go into a classroom, your subject mentor or normal.class teacher will be there to fill an observation form which rates how you are meeting or have met the teaching standards.

So as it is, you are like what we call " student teacher" in Naija.
Holidays are usually two week. Getting a job within the time could be possible being in London. Besides, the holidays are usually when assignments deadline are.

Primary PGCE is quite vast, more than Secondary. Despite specialising in Mathematics you will still.learn about some more primary subject cos as a primary teacher, you'll take ownership of your classroom.

I learnt Secondary PGCE gives you opportunity to teacher both primary and secondary.
I would have strongly advised that you do Secondary Physics, it's the highest subject in demand as far as I am concerned. Not too many people teach triple science.

I actually did Physics Education in Nigeria but I didn't get the secondary pgce! I'll see what I can do about this later on.

Good day house.
Please, for those who have applied for UK visa, how long does it take to get a decision. I know the official time is 15working days but does it really take up to dat or I can get a decision before the 15working days. I am working with a time frame, I need suggestions.

What type of visa are you applying for? Depends on the visa type, could be 15 working days for visitor's visa to 6 months for settlement

Yes na, you qualify but a reimbursement claim cannot be made for any period before 31 March 2020.

Feb-March 30, 2020 isn’t much of a loss. Imagine someone that paid for 3yrs ihs in Jan 2018 or 2019 and is working in a health care settings.

OK, thank u. But how many installalment will they pay as we paid for 3 people. Myself and 2 kids.

Yes some people get decision before 15 days or long after 15 days

Nobody can ever predict processing time .... it can be case by case even when there is a national average.

Yes, You are very right. Their is shortage of Physics Teachers in UK, it is even part of the jobs on the Shortage occupation list for sponsorship visa.

With my BSc (Ed) Physics Education, The way my school just dey overpamper me with juicy offers ehnn, they just don’t want me to leave the school even after seeing many other opportunities. Now na to enrol for a fully funded course in Inclusive Education to be fully qualified as an Additional Support Needs (ASN) Teacher.

Considering the fact that she already has BEd and TRCN in Physics Education plus MSc Psychology. I won't advice her to go for the PGCE in primary Education because the job opportunities will be limited for her. She can easily apply for GTCS in Scotland to become a well qualified Mathematics and Physics Teacher.
The truth is ; if you are very good in STEM subjects, You won't beg or suffer before getting a very good job in UK.

Yes , and it is even better if you have transcripts for all those qualifications.

Why are you going for another PGCE when you already have one ? Best is to go for MSc in an additional support needs discipline as most schools always look for ASN STEM Teachers and I wanted to share a link with you but the site is under maintenance now.

I did the PGDE here in Nigeria and I thought it is not useful in the UK hence my reason for applying for PGCE in England. I read somewhere that PGDE is only useful in Scotland though(don't know how true this is).

I will check the site again once their maintenance is over then.

Good day all,

Pls I need advices on behalf of my sister. Her husband wants her to relocate to the UK with the children by going through education route (Master's). However, she didn't complete her University degree having discovered it was a fake admission in year 2.

Now the problem is, she never told her husband and she's very remorseful about it. Although she's willing to tell him but It might be disastrous if she does that right now.

Pls what course can she do in the UK with her 90's WAEC certificate taking the education gap into consideration and coupled with the fact that she needs to bring her children along?
