Please doc, tanks for your replies, may you be blessed as you have been a source of blessing to others. Doc, I have a friend who is a PLWHA, she has been managing herself well all these years. But the major challenge she is facing now is that she is having fibroid and I guess a very big one judging from the size of her tummy. she was admitted to hospital for more than two months without any significant improvement, the hospital maintained that she can not be operated on due to the fact that her 'CD4' count is low, right now she is in a wheel chair since she can not even walk due to the pain and her feet just swell up lately. Please I need your advise asap to save her, which hospital could be the best to handle this situation here in Nigeria? the family took her home when they realized that the hospital was not giving them the urgent attention that is required. Again, which drugs or food supplements would be best to boost her immune system quickly so that she could be fit to undergo the surgery? Pls I am looking forward to getting your reply. Thanks. |

Hi,Doc.I used postinor 2 in January and right now I'm 33 days late,I've taken 5 pregnancy tests, all negative but I have been experiencing nausea, lower back pain, extreme headaches and dizziness. Is this secondary amenorrhea and is there anything I can do or should I wait it out? |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by yogun(f): 9:28am On Feb 10, 2012 |

| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by infogenius(m): 10:43am On Feb 10, 2012 |
adetoru:I,ve never been sure about the efficacy of postinor.Do you normally have irregular menses. If no I guess you must be pregnant. You can wait if you want to keep the baby.Or , let me know. |

A girlfriend did not see her period as at when due after love making. Suspicion led to pregnancy test. The test indicated positive. Misoprotol was taken to remove the pregnancy a it was about 3weeks old. The drug worked a expected and further pregnancy test after 10 days showed negative. This happened in November. Within two week, an unprotected sex was engaged upon. Due to need to prevent another pregnancy, postinor2 was taken immediately. Slight bleeding was experienced after which everything was fine. This happened in December. However, she could not see her period for January. Understandably, it could be the effect of the postinor taken as this was acknowledge in the leaflet attached to the drug. More worrisome is the fact that till now, she has not been able to see her period and pregnancy test indicated negative. what can she do? |

@yogun, I'm not trying to get pregnant and I did carry out blood preg test at my hospital and it was negative. |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by infogenius(m): 4:13pm On Feb 11, 2012 |
innovestor:Since she has not been confirmed pregnant I will advice she goes for a test again next week. Then I will tell u what to do.But then there is a possibility that she will still see her period but the odds is that the medications she has taken will affect her cycle. @yogun I just read your earlier post again. You are pregnant period. With lower back pain and those funny symptoms.Start preparing for a baby. |

Thank so much infogenius for your concern and help. She finally told me yesterday that she has "found" her period. I was glad. I guess was some days of delay due to the drug. Thanks again for you advice. |

Jst wondering if it's possible for a lady who was Intimate 2 weeks to her period to be positive to a pregnancy test carried out few days after the conclusion of her monthly flow? |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by infogenius(m): 10:50am On Feb 13, 2012 |
vickipad:Very possible. If the lady's cycle is 28 days. After her last period it takes 10-14 days for egg formation and then she experiences ovulation. From your post she must have made love around her ovulation period which makes her positive. The good news is that she will in 35 weeks time be a mother. innovestor:Good I am sure she is relieved now and of course you.ciao |

| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by infogenius(m): 6:00pm On Feb 13, 2012 |
vickipad:No she can't.But if she is found positive then I would not term that flow as menstrual flow. |

Hi doc, A frnd of mine started having shoulder pains early last year. She went to JUTH and was operated upon under her armpit. Lots of lumps was taken out and plenty pus was found and drained out. Problem is, the pus kips coming and she's still in pain. D hand is heavy and d incision made during surgery has refused to close. Docs say its because of the pus. They haven't specifically said wat d problem is. Pls I can u tell me wat d problem is and wat should be done? Thanks P.S they said there is nothing wrong with her bones. |

@casler The gap u shud have bt ur last pregnancy is ur decision but there is evidence dat d uterine scar does bcom stroger over time. Gap of 6 months or more should be fine |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by ADEBYTE: 9:17pm On Feb 17, 2012 |
@naanmin From all indication, there could have been many things that could have cause lumps under her ampit, like acne or swollen glands but because of the pus, it most likely a cysta-subaceous cyst( infected subaceous gland, found anywhere hair grows) usually caused by plugged up glands Which eventually cause infection.would have advise both oral and topical antibiotics in the first place b4 d operation.so I would advise that she seek medical help for further blood tests |

@MBG4REAL Uterine artery embolization (UAE) is an effective and safe treatment option for uterine fibroids. Embolization was performed with unilateral femoral arterial access and sequential catheterization of each uterine artery. Complications such as post-embolization syndrome, fibroid slough, failure to embolize are inevitable . Infective complications were evaluated separately according to CD4 counts |

It’s time we take our health issues to be a serious business. With sickness, diseases and death ravaging the society, I have come to conclusion that wellness is not about taking pills. It is having proper info about health and how to live a healthy lifestyle. By this u stay healthy and live long. We don’t have to feel sick until we take checkups on ourselves. We lost a neighbour (a young guy with a kid) to a nonchalant attitude toward his health. It’s time we include health presentations in our business trainings, because It’s shouldn’t be always about business alone. Those minds that are trained need to be healthy. Employees today are facing much higher levels of stress than ever before. The sad reality is that as fast as levels of stress are increasing, levels of fitness are steadily declining. People in all positions and professions are expected to drive longer commutes, perform more tasks, devote more hours and endure more stress. All of these factors contribute to the decline of overall employee health. My company gives 15min no-charge health awareness presentation, free medical consultation, affordable medical diagnosis and health management scheme to companies because we believe health is wealth and a healthy workforce will enhance productivity. I did Evacuation on 28 January 2012. I made love on 14, 18, 22, and 28 of February and I have not see it uptill now (29 Feb 2012) Is it Possible am pregnant. But I have been feeling pains since 25th as if it want to come out but till now no sign. Thanks |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by ADEBYTE: 1:32pm On Feb 29, 2012 |
@loretta Ur doctor should have said to you about ur physical recovery after evacuation during which u would be told not to use anything vaginally for 2-4 weeks- no sex, no tampons, no douches. Back to ur question, u Can ovulate as soon as two weeks after an evacuation, which mean yes, u could get pregnant again within 2 weeks after evacuation |

@ Dr kathekiti. I am always impressed with the way you answer question. Pls i have a little question. My length of period flow has reduced to 2 days flow now. Though i still maintain my 28 days cycle. What could be the cause and the remedy? Another thing is that i always notice my egg white sign of ovulation on the 10th from my first day of menses instead of 14th. After it is clear white thin slippery water for the next twn days. I have 28 days cycle. Does it mean that my ovulation period is less than the usual 14th from the first day of period. Pls does clomid change ovulation period? We intend to try for a baby this month.my fiance would be in town, i intend to take clomid to improve my changes |

I mean that i inten to take clomid to improve my chance of getting preg this month |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by ADEBYTE: 4:22pm On Mar 02, 2012 |
@tochimas The menstrual cycle and period are often affected by your surroundings and lifestyle which include Stress from work or relationships. Also increased exercise may lead to a shorter menstruation cycle.cases of anorexia and bulimia could also shorter days of period.hormonal imbalances could also be responsible of shortness of mestrual periods and in this case, estrogen shots or medication are given to get their cycle back on track.women are often prescribed birth control pills to help regulate the frequency and length of their menstruation. concerning your other question,YES Taking Clomid always changes your cycle length because it it increases the luteal phase to increase chances of implantation and pregnancy. |

@adegbite. Thanks for you reply. Pls i need answer to the other question of my ovulation. I have 28 days cycle ,very regular. And my ovulation is supposed to be 14 days from the 1st day of period. But i usually notice the egg white sign of ovulation around 10th. instead of 14th. Does it mean that my ovulation comes before the normal 14th day. Pls i want to be sure so i will know when to try.my fiance is visit for short duration. So we wants his visit to concide with my ovulation |
| Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by ADEBYTE: 7:33pm On Mar 02, 2012 |
@tochimas Normally to pin point ovulation,it is 14th day after the first day of ur period when u start bleeding. And since ur cycle is 28 days, determine when ur next period is due and count back 12-16 days and this should give u when u r most fertile(ovulated). Usually there are several signs of ovulation and one of them is the increase in the amount of cervical mucus as well as texture( due to rising level of estrogen) and when u noticed mucus which Resembles egg white( urs 10th),u r considered to be most fertile. Also u can also notice a rise in ur body temperature (as a result of progesterone) which also gives a sign of ovulation.I will recommend that u be intimate atleast every other day bt the 10th and 16th to increase ur chances of been pregnant. The egg is capable of been fertilize 12-48 hours. I hope this helps |
