sanctity454:Pardon my inquisitiveness, I'll like to know, is there currently any part of Imo state that does not use borehole?.. As in, is there any part that is currently enjoying constant government water supply?? If there is, please name... I really want to know if there's already a "structure" on ground these guys are working on, or they are doing it anew |

sanctity454:VERY POOR LOCAL VILLAGE BUILDINGS. WHY NOT MODERN HIGHER INSTITUTION STANDARD BUILDINGS? GO TO IFE UNIVERSITY AND SEE WHAT A CAMPUS SHOULD LOOK LIKE. IT PAINS ME TO SEE MONEY WASTED, AFTER ALL IT IS STILL THE SAME BLOCKS, CEMENT ETC |

sanctity454:I'll really love a situation where the government can lure wealthy individuals to come construct solid buildings in our institutions as a legacy and such buildings will be named after them. This can also be extended to roads which will be named after those that constructed it, while institutions like banks, insurance firms can be lured also |

Yampotatocarrot:Most middle class homes use borehole and sell to the lower class. This drive is for those that don't have borehole in their domain. |

The tallest building in owerri seems to be this hotel for now. I know of 11floor building that's under construction though. We need high-rise buildings in large numbers in order to give our city a modern bustling outlook.

sanctity454:let uzodinma complete that highrise estate Rochas started some years back. Most of them are 3-4 floors up.But we know uzodinma won't do that |

eduj:I suggest a PPP arrangements for that estate, government doing it alone will leave it rundown. Hope should sale that estate including the progress bank HQ along bank road |

sanctity454:Are you sure this is the tallest? There is one along Obinze road, just at the point you "enter" the express constructed by Arab contractors... Heard it was being built by Nwankwo Kanu (don't know how true it is sha) |

| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 10:19pm On May 19, 2021 |
eduj:I don't believe government should build the estate except it will be used as secretariat like that of Rivers. Government should rather sell the buildings to private investors let them develop at individual taste. Most cities in Nigeria lack the central highrise area that gives reputable skyline. Owerri needs an area with at least 50 buildings of 10 floors and above laced with marbles and glasses to achieve the desired skyline. In Port-Harcourt the best skyline remains the State secretariat built by Diete Spiff decades ago with just few 9 storey buildings and 17 storey government house. Later the 7 storey DPR building and recently NDDC Headquarters have helped improve the skyline.

Abagworo:You're on point, I have been hammering on this, the estate should be sold, a new CBD area established, for high rise building development only. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by IGBOSON1: 10:42pm On May 19, 2021 |
You need the right economy to support a cluster of high-rise buildings or else they’d just remain empty and become a bad investment for the developers. Rather, they should evolve organically....as the need arises! Owerri for now should bother about cleaning up the city...building solid road infrastructure and greening/cleaning up the environment! |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 10:48pm On May 19, 2021 |
IGBOSON1:A cluster mid-highrise building of 10 floors can't be a bad investment in Owerri economically speaking, the campaign is for moderate high rise building not 15floors and above kinda buildings |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by AKswift: 12:39am On May 20, 2021 |
sanctity454:Like Igboson1 stated, the growth, demand should be organic. Take for example, l wouldn’t build a 10-floor high rise in Owerri for office lease because the demand is not there, except it’s a personal hotel. The only viable market for high rise in Nigeria is Lagos, ABJ, and Rivers coming distant third. Remember investment is influenced by ROI, which Owerri can’t provide. Another angle to look at this is high rise building for luxurious apartments, which we see on the island in Lagos. The average income level in Imo state can’t support that. Even the few who can afford it would rather stay in their mansion in New Owerri. Plus, Imo, and the East in general, do not boast of substantial skilled immigrants like Lagos who live in such service apartments. An industrialized Imo state will make this happen, but the state is not there yet, so this high rise buildings, for now, is not economical; l would prefer an organic growth |
