codemaniacs: I beg to differ. If indigenes develop their community, nigeria would have been a better place today. Of course you can point me in the direction of any major projects done by a local owned business. And not like desmond own o Quite frankly, if local players move in, the business will be rife with corruption and mismanagement. Additionally, the communities will not get any more judgement pay since we know rich nigerians know their way around court cases. And when penalized, they simply refuse to pay... 1 Like 1 Share |

venabili: people like desmond are inconsiderate and elitist.. he just wants to do something so that people won't say he didn't do anything... I can't even say will he have done better if he had more funds... you have a negative mentality concerning Nigerian enterpreneurs so I doubt you're a Nigerian. if indigenes move in , the business will be successful and if its not successful the community will have improved because indigenes will want to impress the community. how can you judge and conclude what indigenes will do when they haven't be given a chance.. I mean university educated indigenes and not the likes of t:ompolo, as:ari d:okubo e.t.c. |

This is wise choice to divest otherwise when the ownership change it will amount to outright loss. Expect more and more of this scenario to come it is high time the rightful owners take charge of their destiny. |

EdiskyHarry: You are saying a different thing. Shell has no business with your Islamic terrorism; blame the NNPC/federal government. Shell is an Anglo-Dutch E&P company. BTW, Niger Delta people always burst their pipelines to steal their oil. When there's oil spill from that criminal activity, the same community will turn around to blame it on the company. That's why they are selling off their onshore stakes. ND people vandalize their pipelines on land. If you haven't lived with those people, you won't know the "headache" they put the IOCs through. In fact, in Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa, people are making lots of money from pipeline vandalism. 2 Likes 1 Share |

THIS ONE NA REAL USE AND DUMP NIGERIA SORRY BUT YOUR OIL IS NOW WORTHLESS THE WORLD HAS TRANSITIONED TO CLEANER MEANS OF ENERGY AND LEFT YOU BEHIND ITS REASON WHY THEY HAVE NOW ALLOWED YOU TO FINALLY BUILD YOUR REFINERIES WHICH WOULD BECOME WORTHLESS IN THE LONG RUN AS THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE MAKING USE OF CRUDE OIL IS NIGERIANS OF WHICH THE UN AND ENVIRONMENTAL BODIES WOULD STILL TAX US HEAVILY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION. |

codemaniacs: I am actually a Nigerian. Now we both "know" if indigenes do move in, it wont be well educated nigerians but "the others" who will likely be acting as a front for Nigerian politicians. Secondly, Nigerians are now running the power sector. Quite a few of them are actually well educated. Will you consider the last 7 years of their efforts a success? If not, what makes you think they will do better in a highly demanding business like Oil Exploration and Production? 2 Likes 1 Share |

It does not matter. Shell will still be legally responsible for all already happened spills for next 50 years or more whether they own the assets or not, and they know that. So the truth, Shell has probably gotten advance Intel from UK MI5 on likelihood of total collapse in Nigeria. The real gist is that @Real Donald Trump already demanded the desolution, but UK asked for 8 years to divest. Dear Joe is not against the idea either. But from look of things Some change in strategy is advancing things quickly, so to be on safe side, Shell has done its world famous scenario planning, and decided to move faster than 8 years. Better get something than end up with zero due to Nationalisation. Only a fool will buy under Nigeria Govt. Oil and gas assets they will not own, new country. But am sure the Wale Tinubus, Emeka Offors, and Peter's will rush to buy, then later start to cry. 1 Like |

venabili: power sector is a part of the economy that requires the use of gas from eastern Nigeria and FG has not invested in gas from eastern Nigeria until recently in the ajaokuta kaduna kano gas pipeline... one thing you must understand about Nigeria and I don't understand why the southern politicians act dumb and dull is that until a northern Nigerian starts the business no other person can go into it or until northern nigeria get 24hr power then no other part of Nigeria can get 24hrs power.. Once dangote refinery is complete and other refineries in the niger delta are completed that's when you'll see improvement.. there are already indigenous companies doing exploration, in fact, if not for the civil war and colonialism foreign companies like sh:ell should never be in Nigeria sending profits back to the U:K and h:olland... in summary As long as its owned by indigenes then the profits stays in that state and from those profits will come social responsibilities to that community... right now, sh:ell's social responsibility is to the U:k and H:olland... |

The smart indigenous oil companies will see this development as an opportunity. It is high time we started taking charge of our resources and seek energy independence by building a truly indigenous integrated energy company. |

Mpanyi:shell is selling off its onshore oil assets but investing heavily in its gas distribution network from ph-aba- ogun. The play a smart game, besides vandalising a gas pipeline will most times lead to accidents so it's mostly safe 1 Like 1 Share |

Who wants to bet, the Chinese will snap up those stakes in a heartbeat. That's how they secure all the fraudulent borrow-to-steal loans Fashola & Amechi have taken from them. China don't want to hear any shīt about oil spills, gas flares or environmental degradation, they are just going to suck out the oil and let nature deal with the side effects however she can. Niger Delta is in for a long ride into the very depths of hell. 2 Likes 1 Share |
