Shouldn't FG be providing accommodation expenses for the leader of the opposition party to ensure that he can attend all important meetings in the seat of power that is Abuja?

It's still baffles me that Buhari do not have a mansion like others in Abuja or is he making a political statement?

General Buhari is by far wealthier than TY Danjuma and Babangida put together because a good name is worth more than silver and gold. Buhari and Idiagbon's kids and grandkids can walk any street in Nigeria without any fear of lynching. Allah bless Buhari!

Beaf:

Can someone tell me how Buhari "integrity" allowed him to accept for his rent to be paid by Danjuma, who sold his corruptly aqcuired oil well for $1billion dollars and publicly proclaimed that he had so much money he didn't know what to do with it?
How come the same "integrity" was a block to his getting help from Nasarawa state?

Why would a man who is "not corrupt" live above his means? Lol!

Lies, lies, lies and more lies from the Buhari camp.

Anyways, lets join the Buhari lot and bitterly weep fake tears:

Yepa! My has! Dem don take awa has! I no get has for Abuja again! grin

Beaf you are not serious.  Can you tell me why Jonathan, who you say has integrity, chose to make a man as corrupt as Antony Anenih his campaign manager?  Can you tell me why Jonathan, who you say has integrity, confesses to having Babangida as a mentor (according to him Babangida is like a father to him).  Buhari is not perfect but he is the one-eyed statesman in a nation full of blind politicians.  Although Buhari could have become a contractor or an influence peddler, he decided to do otherwise.  If Buhari played his cards differently, he could have become the Lamidi Adedibu of the Core North but he chose to follow the more principled path.  Buhari is one of the most misunderstood public figures in Nigeria.  I sincerely hope that history vindicates him.

Buhari doesn't live in Abuja. He lives in kaduna and has a house there. He never felt the need to own a house in Abuja. The Abuja house I believe was rented for one year ( 20 million naira sounds far too much and is probably much lower even for Abuja houses) to cover the campaign period when he had to hold meetings and receive many people and generally stay in Abuja for long periods at a time. A hotel accommodation would be less satisfactory for that purpose hence the house. I believe that Buhari had no intention of retaining a rented house in Abuja and he had never moved from his own house in kaduna to  the rented house in Abuja. It was in my view only a temporary abode convenient for a particular moment in time - the election period, and even at that time he always went back to his family in kaduna where he spent more of his time.

Why is he living where he can't afford? Shows lack of vision in my opinion. He should have never lived there, Reason I don't believe the story. He should live according to his pocket size.

Corrupt Danjuma that Abacha gave an oil block paid his rent, If this man was going to fight corruption, it would have been selective.

So, people still believe this man is poor! Wow. It's amazing! To run for presidential position is not meant for the poor, anywhere.

If the views expressed here are those of the ordinary man on the street, then we are in for a looooong thing in Nigeria, someone decides not to renew a rent that is unnecessary and guys are saying he would have bankrupted the economy, we should just fasten our belts, tribalism and bigotry will kill this country not even corruption.

^ Abi ooh!

Deciding that the rent was too high and moving back to his home in Kaduna State, is a very prudent and commendable decision.

why not stop deceiving yourself? I can see the political-driven story is having it's effects already. Who says buhari can't pay the money? Who says his friends can't? Who says his business which is a farm is not earning much? Are we really foolish to biliv that? Well, i aint, u all might

God don catch am. He thought d money no go finished. He should look for a moderate apartment to rent. I beleive that would not affect his status anywhere.
Re: Nigeria’s Ex-leader, Buhari Ejected Over Unpaid N20m Rent by Nobody: 9:54am On Feb 15, 2012
If Buhari is so clean, how did he expect to afford a 20m naira rent per year even as President. He is an ordinary Nigerian like me, he can make do in his home town
Re: Nigeria’s Ex-leader, Buhari Ejected Over Unpaid N20m Rent by ochiaha1(m): 10:00am On Feb 15, 2012
If Buhari is not a permanent resident of Abuja, then he does not need such an expensive house. He could rent a palatial apartment, though I am not aware if such exists in Nigeria; I heard Billionaires like Bill Gates, usually rent well-heeled apartments whenever he is on tour in the US and not Hotel Rooms for Privacy purposes.

I laud Buhari's move on the house at Abuja because it really pays to keep one's financial expenses short and simple (KISS- keep it short and simple).

Also the complex atom always seeks to dis-integrate. By having just the houses he can maintain, he, Buhari, will ensure that his finances does not dis-integrate totally because he wants to keep up with the joneses who have houses in Abuja. cool
Re: Nigeria’s Ex-leader, Buhari Ejected Over Unpaid N20m Rent by nagoma(m): 10:06am On Feb 15, 2012
@badesco
what happen to the Billions of Naira he stole from Ptf ? This Buhari guys self,
so he is trying to portend himself as a saint or a pauper. Let him go back
to his home country if he cant afford to live in Abuja. I know all these are
gimmicks to deceive Nigerians but unfortunately most Nigerians are now
wiser than he can imagine. He can never be a President in this Country.

You can add ignoramus to the name badesco.
1) Buhari after PTF was more investigated than anybody in Nigeria and the PDP government could not find any wrong doing.
2) Buhari has asserted (boasted if you like) that in all his time in office as a Governor of the NE (now 7 states) , as oil minister, as Brigade Commander, as Head of state he had never taken money that did not belong to him. For a man with so many enemies why cant they go to court and prove the contrary?
3)This explains why he cannot afford a house , either owned or rented in Abuja. Is it really important for everybody to own many houses?I think it depends on what you see as your objectives and values in life.

What a load of horse sh*t . He's probably moving out to rent or purchase a more expensive one in maitama.

How i wish i had the power to give people hot and dirty e-slaps. By now a whole lot of people would have gone deaf on nairaland. WTF?

One. How can anyone accuse Buhari of corruption? How? Someone that was NNPC Head, Minister of Petroleum and later became Head of state and didn't steal a kobo that belonged to the public? Not only that, he even went as far as challenging anyone to come challenge him that he (Buhari) stole public funds and to date and even till Yr 2022, no one has and never will anyone be able to challenge him, yet some i.diots and gooooons come on nairaland and make baseless accussations against him of corruption? I believe that the same id.iots accusing Buhari of corruption are so corrupt and morally bankrupt that they CAN NOT UNDERSTAND how possible it is to hold such esteemed offices and not steal. BASTARD.SSS!!!

Speaking very objectively now and not as an admirer. I understand the paranoia displayed by some people here on NL because of the general's unguarded statements in the past on Sharia. I fully understand their plight. But how making such statements automatically translates to being a Boko haram sponsor beats me. Like Sanni Yarima who even started the whole sheet about Sharia is dead. No one seems to accuse him of sponsoring Boko Haram. But they dare accuse Buhari.

My prayer is that may God enthrone Buhari as our president in 2015 so we can tackle corruption once and for all in naija. WITHOUT FIGHTING CORRUPTION, NAIJA CAN NEVER EVER PROGRESS. LET NO ONE KID HIMSELF BY EXPECTING ANY MEANINGFUL PROGRESS BY ELECTING CORRUPT AND DEMONICALLY POSSESED THIEVES INTO PUBLIC OFFICES.NO NATION ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD HAS MADE PROGRESS WITH CORRUTION BEING COMMONPLACE IN THEIR LIVES. THIRTEEN STRAIGHT YEARS OF DEMOCRACY AND LOOK WHERE WE STILL ARE DESPITE ALL OUR YEARLY TRILLION BUDGETS.
