Most of the old testament were written with a David bias as it well should because David was the greatest leader that Israel ever had. The country was the strongest and largest in his time and never been since then. So he was the quintessential character that would have been deified if Judaism allowed it. He would have been seen as a son of God. So he was painted to look noble.
