It seems you hate anambra state
Why always leave leave leave, every day they will leave anambra to Ebonyi

Anambra population is estimated at 11billion. Instead of suggesting some will migrate to other parts of Anambra , but no you Keep saying Ebonyi upon anambra and Ebonyi don't have common boundaries. B4 talking about other states, many other towns in Anambra must be congested enough.

Or don't you like how Anambra is increasing

Landmack:

Good thing Ebonyi state gov is improving on his state’s infrastructure;;with that, most Easyerners will migrate over there and free Anambra a bit...cause the population right now is on a daily increase.

Anambra Airport interior

Looks like they printed out these pictures and displayed on billboards? So that the workers will get an idea of how the final product should look like?

I think it's an excellent idea to display the images so that the workers will have a picture of what their work should look like when completed.

ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES 3 DAY MOURNING FOR LATE ARMY CHIEF ATTAHIRU & OTHERS

1, The Anambra State Government has declared a three-day mourning period for the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, and some other officers and soldiers who died in the plane crash of Friday, May 21, 2021, at Kaduna Airport. Consequently, Governor Willie Obiano has directed that the state flag fly at half-mast in all public facilities in Anambra State from Monday, May 25 to Wednesday, May 27, 2021.

2. The mourning is in appreciation of the role of the Nigerian Armed Forces in bringing about peace, stability and order in the country as a whole and in Anambra State in particular. Together with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security, Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps and Anambra Vigilante Group, the Armed Forces have played a huge role in making Anambra the most peaceful and the safest state in Nigeria in the last seven years, despite the security breaches of the past few months. Officers and men of the Armed Forces patrol are to this day patrolling streets, towns and villages of the state, especially troubled parts, both day and night.

3. As a result of the safe and peaceful environment, Anambra State has in the last couple of years attracted huge investments. The state has recorded investments worth between four and five billion dollars ($4-5 bn), creating products and services as well as direct and indirect employment in various sectors.

4. The people and Government have always been proud of their relationship with the Nigerian Armed Forces. We are proud that the first university graduate to join the Nigerian Army, Dim Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was a worthy son of the State. Despite being the son of Nigeria’s wealthiest man in the 1950s and despite obtaining a master’s degree in Modern History from Oxford University, Dim Ojukwu joined the Army as a noncommissioned officer and rose through the ranks.

5. The people and Government of Anambra State recognize that military duties are sacrificial, carried out to serve the public good. In the imitable language of the Holy Book, “no love is greater than that a man should lay down his life for the benefit of others” (John 15: 13).

6. May the soul of Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and those of the officers and men who perished with him last Friday in the service of our motherland rest in peace.

You are very correct. Having the pictorial details around the construction sites always keep the workers on their toes to deliver on precision and details.

Saw the response to my question yesterday about the narrowness of the body of water adjoining Nkisi GRA. Can now see the land on the other side is part of the island in the middle of the Niger.

Anyone know which state owns it? It looks massive and could be used as a nature reserve or park where families can go to chill. I don’t think building up the area with more real estate is a good idea though.

Both states may share most of those small islands, but boundary details could help in determining on which state they actually fell

ROADS BUILD ECONOMY AND NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!.... Economy does not build roads!!!!. Ekenemu unu!!!

Rebuilding and expansion of the roads are just 25% of the problem. 75% of the problem is that the people don't understand the rules and regulations around the prohibition of parking on state roads, stopping vehicles in unapproved locations, and building illegal street shops/kiosks/shanties over drainage channels to quite literally trade on the street! This thing must be enforced so that people learn that it is actually illegal to block the road with their wares or vehicle.

Illegal street parking is more of Anambra's urgent road traffic and road safety problem! The culture of parking on major roads is part of the huge road problem in Anambra state. There is no enforcement of the law prohibiting the parking of vehicles on all Trunk A and Trunk B roads (i.e State and federal highways). In other countries of the world, you can only park vehicles on Local Government roads (Side streets). Even at that, it has to be within a defined space and a certain distance from the curb so that you don't impede the flow of traffic on such streets. These laws are not enforced in Nigeria particularly in Onitsha, Nnewi, and Aba. Even the expressway was used as a truck and disused caterpillar park until Obiano started towing their broken-down trucks and caterpillars away at Nkpor and making them pay huge fines before they are released. Thus, the huge traffic at the Nkpor area of the expressway disappeared.

While I totally agree with you that Anambra needs wider roads (Which may be impossible now without widespread demolitions), we must first enforce the parking laws as a normal country. Then deal with street traders who display their wares on the road. Unless the right of way rules are enforced, even if you build a 10 lane expressway, people will still block them eventually with markets and parked broken down vehicles because nobody stops them from breaking the law.

In the past, most governors didn't even care if you blocked a street and built a market or 4 story building. It's a mentality issue.

It will take a very very very very very very serious governor to bring about sanity. It's truly beyond merely expanding streets.

It will take a lot of willpower to enforce these laws because almost no governor had bothered with seriously enforcing the town planning laws, traffic laws, and laws against street trading.

Tell dem. Planning seems to be an alien concept in Nigeria but for Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi growing at over 5% per year, road infrastructure is supposed to expand accordingly. If there are 500 roads in Onitsga govt is supposed to build and tar 25 a year. But in 8 years of Obiano he has built less than 10 roads in Awka not the 120 roads expected.

Nice suggestions here...

I would like to add that those roads should be constructed to 21st Cent. standard like some districts roads in Abuja (like major inner roads in places like maitama, katampe, Guzape etc) those roads have solid built kerbs, underground drainage that is free (you could be walking on a walkway and hearing the sounds of runny water through manholes), wide pedestrian walkways with verdant space separating the kerb from the main walkway (those verdant space have lush green grace and sometimes ornamental trees growing in between)...

I just want our governors in the east to move away from the 'Old Normal' of city roads construction where the build major inner city roads with open drainages and slime pedestrian ways to the 'New Normal' of city roads construction using the Abuja district roads as template for now.

Dalu!

The next Anambra be it Soludo or Maduka should focus on aggressive Urban renewal policies in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.
Anambra need a serenity of well built roads with closed drainages, flower trees, greenish trimmed landscapes etc
The onitsha I saw last two weeks left a depressing taste in my mouth.
The next governor must be a lover of urban planning.
Kudos though to obiano for the airport.

Commentary: Industrialization In Anambra State

In his inaugural address in 2014, Governor Willie Obiano had declared that the time had come to remind ourselves that “a people who astonished the world with their ingenuity and resourcefulness in wartime can lend a hand to remake our world in peace-time.” This statement has woken up the entrepreneurial spirit of the people and today, Obiano’s vision has been validated by the number of new businesses springing up across the state.

Governments all over the world are not often rated by how many factories they establish but how well they have enabled the private sector to establish factories. Governor Obiano has done well in this regard by creating an enabling environment for factories to thrive in Anambra State. One of his earliest steps on assumption of office was to hold a ‘Business Roundtable’ with entrepreneurs of Anambra extraction.

It was at that gathering that the Aku Luo Uno philosophy was birthed. Governor Obiano gave the entrepreneurs at the meeting two assurances; that he would clean up Anambra and make it safe for investors and that he would work hard to improve electricity supply in the state. Seven years down the lane, Obiano has kept his promises.

Governor Obiano was mindful when he declared that roads leading to industrial clusters and agricultural settlements would be given priority attention. The need to give a backbone to the industrial landscape eventually led to the establishment of Anambra Small Business Agency, ASBA. The agency has played a big midwifery role in the emergence of industrial clusters.

The Shoe Making Cluster at Nkwelle Ezunaka is the crown jewel of Obiano’s industrial drive. The cluster currently exports Made-in-Anambra shoes and other foot wears. The success of the Shoe Making Cluster has led to the setting up of a Clothing and Textile Cluster in the same location. The Agency has also been responsible for the sprouting of many Small and Medium Scale Industries in the state like the Anambra Rice and several other small businesses.

Indeed, since the creation of Anambra State, no governor has invested so much in electricity supply as Governor Willie Obiano. Obiano believes that without electricity, his Industrialization policy would be dead on arrival. In this regard, from Oji River in Enugu State, the administration ensured the installation of a 33kv line to supply power to Orumba North and South.

It benefitted 31 communities. This particular initiative was so transcendental that Isuochi Community in Abia State had to send a delegation to specially thank the governor for giving it a rare access to electricity.

Another 33kv line was extended to Anambra North Senatorial zone which benefitted many communities too. And yet another 33kv line was extended from Otuocha to Nkpunando community. It brought electricity to so many communities that had no access to power supply in their entire existence.

The administration has also installed another 33kv line from Awada through Idemili to Nnewi to improve power supply in 43 communities. This is a priority line because of the heavy industrial activities in the area it covers. Another 33kv line has also been installed from Ogborji in Orumba North to Peters University in Aguata.

As a further reinforcement, 400 transformers have been distributed to several communities in Anambra State to strengthen electricity supply in rural and urban areas.

Meanwhile, the administration has also signed an MOU with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to build 6 Transmitters in Anambra State, covering Nnewi, Onitsha, Aguleri, Umuchu and Ogidi/Ogbunike. When fully operational, these transmitters will change the electricity supply situation in Anambra State for good. These efforts are expected to give industrialists and would be manufacturers in Anambra State big elbowroom to operate from.

Indeed, Governor Obiano has remained a champion of ‘Made In Anambra’ goods and services. He ensured that the Government of Anambra State is one of the biggest patronizers of Innoson Vehicles, Coscharis Farms and several others. This has served as a tonic to many prospective investors and entrepreneurs who now throng Anambra to take advantage of the emerging investment safe haven.

Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra state-born Ifeanyi Obike set to launch airline

“Well, according to Ifeanyi Obike, with information he shared through his LinkedIn, Obike Air’s peers are British Airways, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, and Virgin Atlantic – which is quite ambitious for a start-up airline.

The details are still limited as of now, but Obike Air is looking for investors and partners “from the private and public sectors from around the world to join this mission.”
