The next Government in Anambra
Should consider the following

One a highway from the Agulu lake resort to the airport to move tourist

Two a special express way linking nnewi industrial done to the airport

They may also consider building new link roads to broaden access to the airport city

Thank God

I'm of the humble view that any urban renewal project for Ndi Anambra Metropolis will be of low value without a corresponding boom in industrial expansion that will engage and employ some of our teaming Young folks, if we get wealth creation and employment right we will be the toast of Africa,

African-American Man Lawrence Traces Ancestry To Igboland, Set To Marry Umueri, Anambra- Born, Anwulika.

By James Eze

Tomorrow, Friday, 28th May, 2021, history will be made in Umueri.

Akachukwu Okeke (original name Lawrence Marqueze Patterson) will pay the bride price on the head of Anwulika Udanoh.

But why is this historic? Well…Akachukwu is an African American and a proud son of Igboland. This sensitive brother looked back through 400 years of impenetrable darkness, through thousands of frozen bodies in the Middle Passage, through horrors of subhuman existence; to Igboland to find a wife in Umueri, Anambra State. So, if this is not historic, tell me what is!

To me, nothing in living memory drives home the full meaning of this wedding as the 1980 meeting between Chinua Achebe and James Baldwin, one of the greatest African American novelists. The two writers had admired each other from a distance for a long time until they finally met at a conference held by the African Literature Association in Florida. Breaking the momentary silence, Baldwin had remarked; “It’s very important that we should meet each other, finally, if I must say so, after something like 400 years.”

I am personally awed that after over 400 years of separation, we are not merely meeting our brothers and sisters wrenched away from us by greed and human failing, but falling in love with them and wedding them under African skies. Not in America!

The most fascinating thing about this scenario is not just that Akachukwu has traced his ancestors and is about to marry an Igbo princess. Many African Americans have established their Igbo roots. It is that, to my mind, Akachukwu is actually more Igbo than most of us. Indeed, since he discovered his roots, Akachukwu has been a resilient Igbo voice on social media; blessing us all with the rich treasures of his research efforts on Igbo history, culture and worldview. Many people have met themselves anew in the research mirror held aloft in Akachukwu’s sturdy hands. And like many true Igbo, he feels things deeply. He is touched by injustice, oppression and the human condition. He is an ancient Igbo soul; washed clean by the waters of the Atlantic and untouched by the inhumanity of slavery!

That was why, a few years ago, my story on the pathetic existence of abandoned Biafran veterans in a camp in Oji River, touched a raw nerve in him. Being an ex-service man himself, he could relate with the fears of abandonment and the precarious future that plague many war veterans. He quickly mobilized online efforts that led to a symbolic gesture by conscious Igbo youths to say “we care about you” to the ex-servicemen in a memorable way.

In addition, a robust online presence and strong identification with his roots have endeared Akachukwu to many Igbo people and earned him the unsolicited friendship of many youths. He commands a large online following with many Facebook denizens waiting for his posts to lighten their day. Even as a US soldier in Afghanistan; unsure of seeing the next day, Akachukwu kept our timelines buzzing with posts that made life seem like a dazzling sunrise we should all step into.

Quite predictably, he met Anwulika, a zestful and brilliant lady from the famous Udanoh family in Umueri, Anambra State online. Anwulika is the author of ‘Royal Kiss’ a romance drama and a fierce social media habitue whose posts are among the most anticipated in Nigeria's online community.

And tomorrow, anyi ga eje Umueri je mee ego na isi Anwuli!

So, if you are in Anambra State and you are passionate about ife gbasalu Ndigbo, drop by tomorrow at the Udanoh family house in Umueri let’s give Akachukwu and Anwulika the honour they deserve.

Jide ka iji, Warrior!

Good suggestions. However I think we should be looking at light rail.

Hope Soludo, when he becomes governor, will leverage on his international banking and finance connections to convince a international (or even local) investor to invest in the building of a light-rail network on a BOT basis.....linking the three senatorial zones, and also serving strategic economic zones in the state like the airport, river port, Nnewi and Onitsha industrial layouts, etc! The state owned rail could also have a interchange with any national rail stations (if one ever gets built) for seamless ease of travel! The investors will make back their money in as little as 5 years!

Besides the major stops (stations) mentioned above, any community interested in being served by the state light-rail would be required to stump up the cash to buy into the project! As well as the busy, major stops, i also envision trains travelling through and serving sleepy, serene villas....kinda like we see abroad! smiley

Well said. Even some of our billionaires, both home and in the diaspora, may buy into building modest stations, and having it named after them. It all depends on the vision of the next administration and their drive to achieve the vision.

Onitsha keeps diversifying.

This place is called 'Iba Ajie centre'. It was founded by Obi Asika. It comprises of a Museum, Art gallery, Tech Hub, games facilities, lounge, event centre and more.

The place is really classic and amazing. We need more of this. The change and modernization of Onitsha is beginning to happen

Was it necessary to spend scarce state funds buying a brand new Lexus jeep for the deputy IGP? Where is the official SUV given to Dan Mallam, the last deputy IGP?

This is how we protested spending state funds to equip the federal police and army with hundreds vehicles, cameras, etc. While our vigilantes were given nothing. Today Fulani has withdrawn police protection from even the governors of the southeast that funded the federal police the most.

Unless we begin to understand that a cordial relationship with the federal police does not mean always spending scarce state funds on them to the detriment of our community vigilantes who actually protect the communities, then we have learnt nothing from Fulani police force attitude towards our southeast region and even the governors in the region.

Ndi Anambra Should Come Home And Invest...Anambra Chambers Of Commerce

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

Members of Anambra Chambers of Commerce have called on owners and operators of businesses all over the world, to always think of Anambra as a top investment destination.

The three City Chambers comprising of Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha, stated this when they embarked on inspection visit to the ongoing Anambra Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri.

Speaking, the President Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Sir Chris Ukachukwu, with the airport in place at the center, with its three entry points, it has given birth to a new beginning in Anambra, especially with its cargo element which will be so beneficial to traders.

Sir Ukachukwu who commended the governor for building such legacy project, said that a great percentage of ndi Anambra are business inclined, as such, the airport will immensely boost the state economy, pioneered mostly by traders.

While describing the airport as compliant to international standard, the president expressed optimism that it will be commissioned in record time.

Speaking at Aguleri, the Presidents of Nnewi and Awka Chambers of Commerce, Prince Jude Osumuoh and Pastor Stephen Nduaguba, the airport will service everyone across political lines, assuring that business people will key into investing in the opportunities made avaliable by the existence of the airport.

Governor Obiano who hinted that he has patronised Innoson Vehicles in fabrications, said that plenty of opportunities will be offered in the airport, ranging from establishment of businesses, asking people to come and explore those investment opportunities.

Mr. Don Onyenji among others who gave the vote of thanks, applauded the project.

The event ended with a question and answer session.
