My fear is that someday these people can put focus on Dom acct and place restrictions. What if one goes to bank to withdraw and they say no dollar or pounds?

They will do everything to have dollars so they can resell to make profits especially for business people and international travelers

Once I assessed the first six months of the APC government, I knew Nigerians are in serious trouble. I remember saying then right here on Nairaland that this's the worst type of government a country can get.

Note that two or more devaluations are on the way.

This isn't a devaluation but an almighty slap to the face of economics.

If there was a devaluation of the currency to 460, that would make sense. But the present devaluation is a very timid response hence, the market voted against it by fall of the currency in the black market.

As Sanusi Lamido said, the official and the market rate must never be more than a 3% differential. The present differential is more than 15% and the CBN governor, or rather, the president has refused to allow the differential be reduced to no more than 3%. This is the primary reason why the economy is comatose and prostrate. .

I am certain if Buhari's unworkable forex control policies are scrapped, an extra 2% will be added to the economic growth figures yearly.

But am still wondering why banks in Nigeria don't sell dollars to their customers? Or is it because they benefit from these BDC indirectly? Because i was at the bank to buy dollars they said it must be for my BTA or else they can't sell to me that i should go to my local BDC.
CBN policies

Can any of the more intelligent and economic savvy ones here please explain how exchange rates work and why the naira to dollar rate was better during GEJ’s regime ?

Was it buhari’s policies that caused this ? Or some other factor ?

During the GEJ era,
We had more productivity, more political stability, more direct foreign investments, a growing middle class, less foreign debt and far less capital flight.

These are the economic indices that determine the strength or weakness of a third world currency.

With the way things are going..
Buhari Government has failed.

He has failed terribly. He is dull and he now gathered more dull people around him due to tribalism and nepotism.

Except we pray much and God decides to intervene I cannot imagine Nigeria in the next 2 years in the hand of Buhari. God have mercy.
