There are surge arresters but I won't advise it. When there's lightning and thunderstorm just isolate your decoder from the mains and if possible disconnect the cable from the lnb to the decoder.

It protects from electric shock
It causes insulation breakdown which might lead to electrocution etc.

Most electrician don't do good protection against surges. It should be noted that the metal for arresting the surges must be at the peak point in the house.

The only news channel (TVC on Nigcomsat) that I used to watch has been off for about 1 week now.
