I still believe negotiation is the only way to sort this out. If GMB was the one ruling Nigeria during the militancy period in the Niger Delta, there would have been a full blown war in the Niger Delta.

Today, Oduduwa Nation agitators stormed the idiroko border post protesting and even opened the border grin

As for me, GMB failure to address the herdsmen issue and some other issues like the END SARS protest is part of the reason we are where we are now. Imagine make civilians dey disarm custom officer for broad daylight.

Are these people Nigerians? You might say Oduduwans, which might be funny for a little while. Yet, why is it so called Nigerians that I read on Niraland always seem like cheerleads for Ghana, South Africa, Benin republic, Cameroon, Chad and Niger, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania etc? The most important, pressing, issue for Oduduwa is border opening with Benin republic.

Not much to negotiate over, what Nigeria need is to give a great deal of Autonomy to it's states, and that could do it. And while they get that autonomy, let them start having their own economies without the FG sharing money with any state unless if aid is required.
Nigeria can never allow Ibos to secede , they do that, and that's the beginning of the end, Yorubas will follow and others, then of course there will be no more nigeria, now what would happen to other ethnic groups within those breakaway regions? What if they also want to go their own way? Then you will have over 50 countries carved out of the present day Nigeria, and the large ethnic groups in the new country most likely won't allow it, then you have civil wars all over the place. Good luck with that.

My brother, I don't know that place but see, if you know how lackidasical the police and other security agents are, life go tire you.. I travelled from Lagos to benin by road and I observed, they were only out for money. Nothing more, the security architecture of this country has failed bro.. It has, and our political leaders feel they are safe because they've got escorts, sad.

Governor sleeping in Barracks, what has he done to empower the security agents, not Hilux, the lies they tell themselves within the security circles is alarming, they play down this incidents and tell themselves it's nothing.

By now bro, we should be seeing drills, special training of men, tactical teams on standby.. but we see police further brutalizing the police, mass arrest and killing the people, police get too many flaws abeg.

Then they will eventually be merge with Kano. It makes no sense having a state that is not viable. Any southern states that is not self sufficient too can merge with other states too.A backward state like Benue and taraba can be merge with Pleateu state.

I fully support what El rufai is doing in Kaduna state. He is working on downsizing the civil servants in his state. Most of this civil servants just go to work doing nothing.

We need changes for this country, GMB tenure is turning out to be a waste. GMB no suppose win the 2019 presidential election, but because of this present arrangement, he won.

If we restructure wey everybody dey them lane, if the people of the North west like, they can keep on electing a clueless disaster like GMB as their life president, it won't have any effect on me wey dey south west.

I am even derailing una thread cos of this topic.
Not that I don't support restructuring or state police but making a hasty decision without proper planning and arrangements always leads to a bigger problem.
You can't just merge unviable states together and expect them to be viable. Only Lagos, Rivers,Akwa ibom,Delta, and Bayelsa will survive restructuring in this present Nigeria. Leave all those bogus IGr by some states claiming they're are doing well because they can't survive without oil money. All the past governors of whole federation+ the present ones are not interested in wealth creation that's why we still have large populace of unemployment and underpaid workers.
El rufai is just creating another batch of educated bandits and criminals in his state with downsizing of his workforce overnight.
Every year people dey retire from civil service instead of him to control mode of recruitment,he just wake up and start sending people home. Person wey dey chop salary yesterday will come tomorrow and become jobless in a state like Kaduna where crime/crises is on the high side? If some of those men see gun tomorrow na residents go collect this goodness of that weapon.

I'm surprised people are unfamiliar with this. Down here banks, chemists, police stations/govt offices and even Uber taxis etc have installed those for a year now. They've become so normalised I hardly notice them anymore.

I know some here like to puff up their chest on how ESN or IPOB would be destroyed, but unlike the northeast, the southeast is a dense urban environment, the population is more educated, they have greater access to finances, have a massive diaspora and access to world institutions. Waste of precious petrol and time. This weak attempt at show of force can’t fly. If they can’t gather intelligence underground and work closely with locals to go after these militants then they should all go back to their respective houses and barracks.
See that animal smashing the mobile phone of a civilian, at a time when they ought to be building civil-military relationship. Posturing themselves like an occupying force.

Haba e no make sense nah...as long as there is peace and progress and no blood is further shed for nothing...Nigeria can as well split into even 100 nations...You forgot that people are already tired of this union...forget others keeping quiet..once all is set everybody would find his or her level..the glue holding Nigeria is already expired and that is the bitter truth unfortunately and I dont think anything can salvage it...The only maybe close thing that can still bring people together is to create their different nations, self governing and only agree to a union for old time sake, that way nobody can lord it over anybody, all would progress at there own pace and any who is tired of the union can simply back out without any shouting match....!!

It so so unfortunate to see us come to this level but what can any do?

We are all waiting to see how the situation pan out...!!

I have seen Ministers such as Pantami, Saleh Mamman, of Communication and Power use that huge glass as a covid 19 barrier. Which also allows them to be more audible when speaking to their guest as they receive "Big men" visitors to their office due to their status. If you wear mask you might have had some people say you are not as audible with mask.

So they do not have to use face mask/ face shield in their own office.

Hope Air does not blow the coronavirus over the glass barrier grin grin

So i do not believe it is a bulletproof glass barrier protecting the COAS. Besides soldiers have access to AHQ but they or any visitor can't access the COAS office. Only few of his soldiers and officers do and they are all handpicked by him. They conduct security screening again after the initial screening to access the HQ

Notice the Tag with the COAS office on Attahiru ? Only those with it can access the COAS office freely. Those he choose personally.

Also notice how the glass in the COAS office has a little opening right at the middle, targeting his stomach precisely if a visitor would sit down. A bulletpoof glass barrier won't have that.
That is to pass things like documents or if the COAS will give you some dollars for the weekend grin grin

Thanks boss!

The diaspora and the access to finance that were not there in '67 for me are the scariest.

Without finance and a large diaspora, the "rebels" in the East held the FG, which had unprecedented Cold War support (US, UK, Israel, Egypt and Soviet),for 30 very bloody months.

Presently the diaspora contribute US$25 billion a year as at 2018/19 to Nigeria.

And truth be told majority of them are Igbo.

FG needs to calm the hell down and use brain, not gun for this.

For context, Buhari was a Major in '67 in the heat of the battle.

Today, he is a Major General who has been retired for over 30 years.

I expect far more wisdom and tact than what is presently being done by the FG, seeing as old soldiers are supposed to be wise.

War brings lawlessness... Right now the military is still operating with limitations... If it turns out to be war oh real war... All this human right concern would be swept underneath the carpet.
The people won't be able to cry to human rights organization, because there presence would not be allowed... And they may not be able to use social media... Most likely communication would be cut off...
The lack of will being played in the NE. Should not be mistaken as what would be manifested in case of secession....
We have not even looked at the Airforce
And that's my worry for the innocent masses in the state.

Excuse me sir, so why hasn't the FG gone full apeshit war mode in the NE?

After all BH/ISWA have clearly stated, and acted on, their intention to create a Caliphate out of that region.

IPOB/ESN/UGM (whom I don't support) haven't done 10% of ISWA/BH's doings and FG is singing war songs.

So why won't people deem the happenings in the Southeast unfair?
