This people are milking the nation dry!
Now that schools are now reinforced with securities the bad guys have adapted to targeting non formal ones.... The best thing is to prohibit non registered islamiyya and even ones that registered ones that are not done in conducive and protected environments
And if the people want to be unreasonable. Govt should expressly exclude itself from liability

Think it through chief. break it into 100 countries with no strong central govt in each, once again what you will end up with are independent territories with warring warlords, it will never function.
we simply aren't mature enougto do it right. Greed, tribalism, lack of trust etc will never let those new states be viable.
with proper reform, it will be better. Autonomy while the fg provide oversight over each state, this make sure no governor abuses his or her office or infringe on the rights of minority groups. Just one of many things that can be done.

Look through my comment again...I mention coming together to form a union with a central government...

Then something of note is that ESN and UGM have no United efforts.... Let assume it brokers into civil war, the two will be at their at each other's throat for power struggle.

Not formal education, it a religious basic learning along the house setting where children in the local are taught Islamic education. School fees is usually around 1000 naira for 3 months duration..

This establishment need not be registered Any mallam with Islamic knowledged just create this, the venue could be the compound or his parlour ...
Parents send thier kids there to keep them busy and learning basic religious tenets... It just like what the Christian have for kids.. am not sure what the christains call it. "Bible studies"
In this case the islamiyya is a poor one... In other places it more organized and done in formal buildings...
For example .. a building may serves both. i.e in the morning it for formal education, while in the evening and weekend, it is used for Islamic studies.
Meanwhile CinC have gone to Mali to call for peace grin same man that couldn't go to his Chief of army staff burial which is a trekable distance from his place of abode.
NASS ought to have impeached that man long ago but Lawan and Gbaja are also useless. At this rate we're watching the country disintegrate in our very own eyes, the President should handover to his vice to steer the affairs of this nation, we saw how he intervened in the crises in the Niger Delta which Buhari thought he could use the military to quell not until he realised it was an exercise in futility. The political class keep creating problems the military can't and will never solve, the problem in the south east if not managed will snowball into something bigger than what both sides won't be able to control, we've been shouting but nobody is listening another front is about to open in the southwest yet we have a CinC whose job is to sleep, eat, drink Fura, Sh1t, wake up, express shock and enter the next available flight abroad. Another set of students have been kidnapped in Niger, since they are most likely children of the poor, nothing concerns anybody rather we would allow bandits reign supreme while amassing limited equipments and men in places where jaw jawing will settle the issue..
Nigeria I hail thee

A wise man, looks for ways to avoid war, why don't you take time to do a bit of research , spend your money and watch war videos, not the doctored ones you see on CNN, that makes it look bad ass, that makes you say wow iron dome, with the level of attack esn has done, they have made their point, this would force those in government to act right and do right.....if the puppet masters of ipob/esn were smart this is the best time to stop attacks and make sensible demands other than secession.
Those hailing them now, would sell them out at the long run, the military Is giving room for wisdom to prevail, but seems the elder statesmen in the east aren't addressing the issue.
The word in bold is a lie. How is asking for secession not a sensible demand

The English defeated the Scottish in a war and scotland have been under the English control ever since then. The Scottish have been giving the chance to decide if they will remain in the UK or not, and majority decided to still remain part of the UK.

If you're David Cameron, you would have threatened the Scottish people with wars and total annihilation.

Even Cataluyans wants to secede from Spain.

My only disagreement with IPOB and ESN is that they should go through this secession process through a democratic means and through dialogue.

But I still give it to IPOB, with the way Nigerian army personnel have been killing IPOB members, who will forget the recent one in oyigbo(it was what lead to some igbos that believe in Biafra to create UGM), no group will want to remain a peaceful group after this kin unprovoked killings by the Nigerian army. I expect ESN to be the ones attacking security personnel, but they have chosen not to do so.

There is no way you will expect an IPOB or an Igbo man that have witnessed all this crimes by the Nigerian army not to be in support of UGM.

https://punchng.com/army-dismisses-3040-soldiers-for-desertion-murder-rape-drunkenness/

More than 20 others were equally dismissed for having foreign spouses, pregnancy without marriage, attempting to have sex with a colleague’s wife, hiding from the enemy, attending civilian burials in military uniforms, negligence, loss of ammunition, theft of rifles, sleeping on sentry duty, travelling without a pass, among other things.

While Sgt. Abdullahi Usman was dismissed for going away without leave, Samson Tart was sacked for attempted rape, L/Corporals Thlama Jaduwa and Ujah Stephen were relieved for illegal duty and indiscipline respectively.

L/Cpl Nande Samson and Cpl Julius Abiodun were sacked for five-day absence and disobedience to order, respectively, while Akaa Abani and Daniel Timothy, both privates, were discharged for possession of Indian hemp....

You lots should read it, it is an interesting article... Some girl sacked for being pregnant out of wed lock etc.

There is really no point calling for peace anymore. Their minds are set and until they achieve victory or get tired of trying, they won't stop. Those controlling the mobs are drunk on the power and support they are getting and will not think straight until they can't disengage.
I'm just trying to imagine what a military victory for IPOB will be and how they will achieve it.

Nonsense!

So this is a more serious crime than an army General having two properties worth millions of dollars in Dubai An army General that was not even earning up to $150,000 per annum, how can he be able to afford Properties worth more than $1m in Dubai.

He has led ISWAP before, he was ousted because of his failures. Even if he has Learnt from past mistakes, what does he want to do that other ISWAP & JAS leaders haven't done before?
Especially at a time the NAF will be having far more platforms and capabilities since the beginning of the counterinsurgency.

Normally, with the arrival of the raining seasons, more ambushes should be expected. They will attempt several fruitless attacks on garrisoned towns, some will be captured but will definitely be abandoned after having lost several fighters.

Following the attack on state CID in Umuagu Umuahia on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police in Abia state, CP Janet Agbede has said no fewer than eight of the attackers suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN were killed, ABN TV reports.

Briefing newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the PRO of the command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna expressed regret that two Inspectors lost their lives in the attack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2GgCGnO3xs

He said the attackers had stormed the police formation at about 6pm on Saturday, shooting sporadically.

According to the police image maker, reinforcement from the command headquarters added to the fierce engagement with men on ground saw eight of the hoodlums neutralised.

He added that some of the attackers escaped with gunshot wounds while two vehicles were recovered.

The facility he said was raised down following the detonation of an explosive through the back of the building, it was raised down.

While stating that the suspects in detention were released and an exhibit car burnt, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said no firearm was carted away.

He, therefore, urged medical facilities within and outside the state to report to security agencies in the event that patients with a suspected bullet wound come for treatment.

SP Ogbonna further appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to desist from acts capable of truncating the peace and security of the state, describing it as a whirlwind that will blow no one good.

As it is, the current crisis in the southeast may take decades to fully resolve, many innocent people will die and life will change for several people. Schools and businesses will be shut down, multinational companies will be thinking of suspending operations and expatriates/workers from other parts of the country or world will be planning to leave by now, even many non-native traders will be moving out soon worsening already bad economic conditions. Federal government acted very stupidly and mismanaged the situation which isn't surprising at all but our people decided to join in the foolishness. I'm still wondering how IPOB will achieve a military victory over FGN in less than 20 years. I hope their online supporters will join active combat so that it can end soon though. The definitely have the numbers to pose a real threat.
The Buhari administration has been stupid enough to let issues escalate this level, they should at least get MRAPs and IFVs in hundreds so that soldiers who will be victims of this stupidity won't really suffer much.
Seeing soft skin vehicles in another conflict zone today was really disheartening.

The government still has the options of stopping all other projects to focus on modernizing the military. There are options of borrowing, diplomacy, hiring mercenaries to take care of other non-state actors in other parts of the country and so on.

In the end, even if IPOB comes out victorious against all odds, the cost would be enormous and might take decades more to heal from.
