GboyegaD:
Had a family member over with his family for dinner.
Served beef in skewers (first time), honey spicy grilled chicken, grilled vegetables, and jollof rice

Made a chocolate cake desert with frosting (frosting for the first time and it was a bit runny).
I'm coming over this weekend

Happy new month foodies!

This is to remind you to prioritize your health this month. There have been so many sad news of kidney problem, cancer, diabetes, ulcer et Al. If you can, grow those small vegetables you eat at home organically. Too much use of pesticides and failure of many farmers to adhere to their PHI is one of the major causes of cancer.

What's your health goal for this new month. Mine is daily exercise and smoothie for breakfast.

The entire fruits in the first pics cost me 800. Bulk/whole buying help you save cash.
Pics 2. Prepping for freezing
Pics 3. First smoothie of the month. It was made with banana, pineapple, orange, watermelon, strawberry and milk
The last pics shows the peels. I will use them in making zobo later

Health is wealth. If permitted, I will talk on how I make my own body butter (cream) and soap soon.

Meanwhile, join me celebrate my 1year and 5 months of no carbonated drink (coke, fanta et Al) and alcohol consumption

I always find Plantain really colorful and inviting when I see other people fry/post/eat it.....but I don't know how they deal with the sweetness.

I find Plantain too sweet; just like cake I rarely eat it. Most times when I eat Plantain it's just to fulfill righteousness or tag along.

I don't know if it's just me but Plantain is too sweet for my taste bud....It's so bad that I can't even eat past ₦50 worth of Plantain when buy it on the streets ( buka level). Even when anybody celebrates at my place of work and we get served lunch, I mostly leave the Plantain on the fried or jollof rice untouched.

How una dey Enjoy Plantain?
Buy half ripe, roast and eat with pepper sauce. It's like 30% sweetness.
It's not all plantain species I buy. There are two species in Nigerian markets that's not that sweet. Sellers know.

I hardly eat fried plantain too but my family are addicts grin. Prefer to roast and can stay without for months.

No let mariahAngel hear you cheesy cheesy

Maybe you should try the not too ripe ones. I even prefer that, to the overly ripe.

Both ripe and unripe I don't enjoy Plantain some most people claim they do.

One look at your banana bread, one could see it really carried load.

Let me check from which side to cut from.

One of the best things to eat. I fry mine without salt and it taste yummy. When next I'm getting to buy, I'm planning to pan sear it and let it caramelize perhaps, it will bring it the sweetness more.

Nothing beats a week fried route plantain with fried eggs sha ooo.

Na that one i want. Yum

It wasn't to nice for me because I don't eat pepper but had to think about my guest and I'm glad that loved it.

My level of spicyness is usually bell peppers with some little ground black pepper but I had to time it up for their sake.

As far back as I can remember I've not been a Plantain freak like that. In fact, I remember when I was in primary school and my mum usually dish our lunch right from home and also back it up with snacks.....There are days we will take beans to school and as most mothers think, she will add sizable amount of Plantain to beans any day she packs bean as my lunch.

I remember i usually eat the beans completely but keep most of the Plantain which I either throw away on my way home or leave in the food flask which she will see when washing it. She later explained to me that throwing away any food or allowing it to waste was not ideal, rather I should share with some classmates who may not have enough. From that day, my Plantain goes to my Gees; those we do "police and thief" together grin

Even when I use ojúkòkòrò buy Plantain at eateries sef, I go just eat a piece or two and leave the rest to waste cry
