It is written in the Torah:

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Will you obey such a command?

And why?

And what are the consequences if you obeyed or disobeyed?

sonmvayina:

Ok ,
I will answer you with a simple analogy.
You created a robot to help you wash your car in the morning. And everyday by 5 am he gets up and washes the car that's what he does day in day out for millions of years without complaining. Sound good doesn't it. What if you take out the OS and upgraded it such that it can perform so many functions..
The first thing you probably will do will be to test run it..if you say " don't smash the windshield "? And it does anyway....does it not mean your upgrade worked? Because it can perform another function and maybe a thousand more...

Like I said before we are spiritual being having a human experience. Spirits can't make choices they do whatever God has created them yo do. God created man and endowed it with the ability and capacity to make choices. Sometimes our choices are not favorable to us and our neighbor.. so because also we have the tendency to commit evil. God decreec that our stay on earth should not exceed 120 years. When we "die" our spirits return to him our body return to earth..to default settings..

The story is a retelling of how death came to be.

So all thatis required is to follow certain rules to make the experience more fruitful and purposeful..hence ifa, torah and omenani...

Teacher sonmvayina, I hope you do not mind that I created a thread for my schooling. It is so my education does not get lost in other conversations that may distract my learning.

First let me say, you have not answered my questions above, so forgive me if I at some point ask them again. Meanwhile, I shall address your current education of buda.

sonmvayina:

Like I said before we are spiritual being having a human experience. Spirits can't make choices they do whatever God has created them to do. God created man and endowed it with the ability and capacity to make choices.

In the above, you say "Spirits can't make choices", yet you say "God created man and endowed it with the ability and capacity to make choices", which causes a connundrum in my mind, and that's apart from the fact that neither of us are mindless robots who just do what we are told, nor are we "Spirits that can't make choices".

Is it just woman that is the Spirit Robot that can not make choices and must just do what God commanded her to do, while the man is the one "endowed with the ability and capacity to make choices" and is free therefore to have experiences?

I ask because in the text I quoted in my initial question I think it was the other way around. That Adam was the mindless robot who did what he was told, while the woman Eve was no robot at all, but decided to check with her own senses to gain experience if what she was told was true or not true.

I do appreciate your patience and time in educating buda.

Humans(both man and woman) where created with the ability to make choices...

Humans(both man and woman) where created with the ability to make choices...

Thank you for the clarification.

If both man and woman were created to make choices, is it true that they can not therefore be "Spirits that can't make choices" as you initially stated, and therefore nothing like the analogy of the mindless robots you created to wash your car?

I mean, you son, and buda, are not mindless robots that have been created to do as we are told, or are we?

The question was whether humans are "Spirits that can't make choices" as you claimed, or if humans have "the ability and capacity to make choices", as you also claimed.

I ask because a spade and a shovel are two different tools and you did say you are old enough to know the difference, so teach me please Master Sonm.

I wrote this in response to a person who's analogy was to a car as your's is to a robot, and I present it here for consideration so you know how much education I might be needing

budaatum:

A motor car is not imbued with a brain that is the mind inside the human, nor does the motor car wake up in the morning and decide where to go all by itself, both of which humans can do and a lot more. So I'd say we are very much different to motor cars and we must question our understanding of the book we read so God can give us answers.

You would not have been told to ask and seek and knock with all your heart and soul and mind and being if you were not supposed to use it to diligently seek first God's Kingdom.

Human are Spirits residing in a body or vessel fashioned from the DUST of the earth. The spirit on its own is spotless. But when it enters a body it animates it and brings the vessel to life. When it departs , death accurs.

Okay. If you way so. Though, again, you have failed to reconcile whether humans are "Spirits (+ flesh) that can't make choices" as you claimed, or if humans are spirits (+ flesh) that have "the ability and capacity to make choices", as you also claimed.

I am insisting because it really is a spade and a shovel connundrum that should be resolved before we proceed with my education please.

Good! So, we agree that contrary to your initial statement that "Spirits can't make choices they do whatever God has created them to do", we humans are "Spirit + flesh", and have the ability to make choices. (Do please bear in mind that I reserve the right to ask if disobeying satan was a spirit or not or had flesh too).

Now that that is cleared up, might you kindly attend to my initial query please, which I repeat below, because as you can see, buda will like to take full advantage of the education you can provide her in full.

And what are the consequences if you obeyed or disobeyed?

Who is Satan or what is Satan

Who is lord God

No! You are the one who said "God created man and endowed it with the ability and capacity to make choices". And it is you who said "God decreed that our stay on earth should not exceed 120" and it is you that said it "is required is to follow certain rules to make the experience more fruitful and purposeful.. hence ifa, torah and omenani". And you never defined your God then and that is precisely why I quoted the Torah you said should be obeyed and my questions to see if you obey what you are telling me to obey and for you to explain the consequences of you obeying or not!

So teach me please by answering my simple questions so I may first understand, and then if we find it is I that needs to be teaching you we can address your questions!

Are you even following me or you just want me to keep repeating myself ?

God is the totality of the consciousness of the universe. God is not a man or a human being. And time after time I have always maintained that the letter killeth and have opened a thread to that effect. The story of the garden of eden is not to be taken literal. It is a recast of an earlier Babylonian epic about how man forfeited the chance to dwell on earth indefinitely....it is not a real story neither is it historical. We are meant to read them and learn the messages they contain...
The Torah is a law book of rights, privileges and laws...to guide our choices.

Even when we do make wrong choices, it still prescribed solutions and punishments..

You just don't want to learn..or you are deliberately ignoring my teaching...whichever case you still loose..

Forget about the written words. That conversation NEVER happened. Learn the message in the story.

You can't interpret what never transpired....it is just a story..

If it is a literal story and I was faced with that kind of command. I will probably eat it just to experience what death feels like as i already know what living is...

Here you go again! "Its just a story", yet "Learn the message in the story", that "you can't interpret" or even bother to teach me, while you bother about some God whom you say "is not a man" but whom you say must be obeyed.

You said one must obey the Torah. Don't mind him. He does not seem to realise that he is not as smart nor as knowledgeable as he thinks he is, and that his actual lack of knowledge is glaringly obvious. Just see how he danced around and avoided answering my questions because he knows he would corner himself.

budaatum, being that according to your admission you created this thread for your schooling, then it'll be appropriate that the thread's title heading be 'budaatum get to school' as opposed to the current 'somn goes to school'

I am enjoying the discourse between sonmvayina, and budaatum

sonmvayina, watch the numbered three coming below

1. Body, Soul and Spirit?
sonmvayina, put them in a hierarchical order (i.e. as in meaning what's the first and highest, whats the second and middle then what's third, as in lowest and last in terms of importance, degree and/or status) or is there no hierarchy among the three?

2. Genesis 6:3
'Then the LORD said,
“My Spirit shall not strive and remain with man forever, because he is indeed flesh [sinful, corrupt—given over to sensual appetites]; nevertheless his days shall yet be a hundred and twenty years.”
'

budaatum credited you, sonmvayina, saying that you said 'God decreed that our stay on earth should not exceed 120' but sonmvayina, that your assertion is wrong because Genesis 6:3 reproduced above, is not talking about mankind in general, but specifically is referring to how long more Noah had to continue preaching before the Noachian Flood would happen. It is particularly is referring to the fate of the people living at the time of Noah's existence or period

The amazing name Methuselah, translates with a meaning that says 'Man Of A Javelin (i.e. weapon of death), When He Is Dead It Shall Be Sent', with 'it' being the flood. In short, the name Methuselah signifies, 'his death shall bring' hence why it took Methuselah that 969 years long to die, he literally was holding out for as long as he can because as long as he doesnt die, then 'it' won't happen. Unsurprisingly, the flood of Noah unfailingly came, 120 years later, in the same year that Methuselah died.

Go research on the meaning of the names of the patriarchs from Adam to Noah to reveal a prophecy of the flood in a hidden message stuck in this genealogy. This is evident when you string the ten names, one after the other from Adam to Noah together then read the sentence formed from the names' meanings.

3. sonmvayina, I admired your frankness and honesty, when you admitted that you too would have eaten of the fruit from the tree forbidden not to eat from. Talking of where you typed:
'I will probably eat it just to experience what death feels like as i already know what living is ...'

The irony, is that Eve's reason for eating wasn't about wanting to experience what death feels like, as I am sure you're cleverer than putting a rope round neck then dangle from a tree, just to experience what death feels like. There are a thousand better ways to die to experience what death feels like than using a rope. Back to Eve, Eve's reasons for eating the fruit were due to pride, disobedience, thievery, covetousness, narcissism, vanity, self-centredness etc. Its a bit hard to believe that, its a win win, whether they ate the fruit or didnt eat the fruit. There is a prize for either way it panned.

You see, sonmvayina, one before their time, dont need to personally experience what death feels like because death all around us, already a part of life. One of the reasons why Eve ate of the fruit was because she wasn't afraid to die and she taught it actually is meant to be eaten, and eaten for his 'benefits' Death has always existed albeit not in the world of Adam and Eve. Death cannot kill what doesnt and/or never dies, but the moment Adam and Eve ate of the fruit, the action and/or process of dying triggered, as death found an opening to enter into their worlds. Death ended the lives of Adam and Eve, but not the relationship they both had with each other. Death isnt the greatest loss in life, I would imagine Adam and Eve thinking and realising that the greatest loss is what died inside them while still being alive. Go figure. Body, spirit or soul?

budaatum, being that according to your admission you created this thread for your schooling, then it'll be appropriate that the thread's title heading be 'budaatum get to school' as opposed to the current 'somn goes to school'
The title of the thread was "Sonm Schools buda", or something of the like, but his silly attitude and inability to answer simple questions made me change it to what it currently is because it is more accurate.

BassReeves:
Eve's reasons for eating the fruit were due to pride, disobedience, thievery, covetousness, narcissism, vanity, self-centredness etc.
And the above is untrue! Eve's reason for eating the fruit was simply because she did not believe what Adam had told her and she rightly wanted to test for herself if it was true that she would die or not, which is why I give credit to Sonm for eating it too, though it contradicts his "obey the Torah"!
