But why the RPM so high on the Tundra though?? Overdrive disabled I guess. Once my ford edge gets to 80km/h overdrive kicks in. It wont rev past 2rpm and the speedo go dey flow dey go till 220. It really makes driving the car very enjoyable on long trips on good roads. Quiet and fuel-conserving whilst still delivering on quick acceleration. Even my old work car back in the day, a 1.6l Renault Logan 2012 with no overdrive did 210kmh on Benin-ore once like that and it didn't rev as high as this. Maybe cos i cruised into it and just held it there till there was nothing more to give..lol

wow! But what do i stand to gain by lying tho? Right now i really wish i had recorded a video. That would have made this convo golden. No worries, hopefully someone else who has an edge and has experienced exactly what i stated above will corroborate my supposed 'lie'. If i'm also able to find proof of this on the www, i will revert with a link.

I havent found anything as specific as my description, and e dey pain me. This screenshot is/should be common knowledge to pple who know how overdrive works, but isnt specific enough. What i sha know is in June 2020 when i picked up my 2010 Ford edge, which has a six speed trans with overdrive, on that stretch of road that car did the full 200 (not 220 that was a typo) and the rpm was solidly ard 2. It just stood there whilst the speedo needle kept going. Femtopford is a ford specialist, can you clarify this pls?

Look at my tachometer at 90 mph on page 6 then 80 mph it will explains the Tundra's low's mpg

That Chrysler 300 V6 got me average 30 mpg on a 700 mile trip to Florida.

The Pentastar is a very good engine, powerful and efficient

ok. Radautoworks and Femtopford especially, kindly share you inputs on my experience based on your experience, if/when you see this. Car was a ford edge 2010, dont know if anything out of the ordinary was installed. It sha had the O/D knob on the gear lever, which was on by default of course. Only hit the button to turn it off when i'm doing city driving after reading about how to properly use O/D due to the same experience i earlier stated...which is why i made that comment, cos i assumed a larger V8 would handle it even nicer.

Still on this lie matter, i hate using wikipedia but it will suffice for now cos it ended up being detailed enough, with numbers which i'm sure weren't all made up too. The tyre size of the edge is 255/50R20, is AWD, and gearing ratio is 4.48:1. So flowing from all the attached, what do the numbers say dear friends??

The tundra's high rpm is cos it was constantly downshifting. Your Ford had a faulty tachometer or you're mistaken on the figure

except that from nought to about 80kmh it revs to like 3k or 3k5 and shifts through all the gears fine. I dont push pedal to the metal (spirited driving), i just build into it. That is how i typically drive. My first use of overdrive is my mum's car. My mum's crv with overdrive drives diff, that one gets to like same 80 to 100 and just holds it there, it wont speed up significantly or quickly past that regardless of how you give it gas, only slow step-wise marginal increases. But this one was completely diff, hence why i specifically stated the car details, and also why when i got home i decided to really read about overdrive. I'm telling you that is exactly how it happened. Tacho couldnt have been broken, cos like i said it moves past the 2k-ish rpm when moving thru the gears, and also on idle when i rev it in our 'Nigerian way' of firing it on idle, it moves into 5k or above depending on the push i give it, redline at 6.5k as you can see. When i gained momentum, at about 80kmh and above the needle just dropped to 2 -2k5, whilst the speedo needle kept moving according to pressure i put on the accelerator. I kid you not it moved all thru to 200 on that stetch of road, and it didnt get to 3krpm. I didnt know it was so significant at the time, maybe i would have dared to document it despite the risk

Bro, this car is still in your possession, yes?

Why speak long grammar here in defense of your claims on a daily.

Get into the car once more, drive it to same 200kmhr on 2000rpm via the overdrive and kindly take a pic of the cluster once more.

That pic alone will speak clearly, a thousand times more eloquently than you've been doing since... Scouring the internet looking for editorials or pics to buttress your point.

Auto field is practical, you won't convince anybody here who knows their onions via your relentless long grammars, get practical. cool

Unless your car has an 8-speed tranny, it is absolutely very hard to believe those claims you mentioned. Though this might have happened as you said you experienced it, but all of us can’t comprehend it because it is almost impossible in physics and we are all about the physics. grin grin grin
I remembered when I narrated how I gave a Range Rover serious headache with a 4cyl 2003 Camry doing 200km/h on Abuja-kaduna expressway( when the road was still as smooth as a baby’s butt) and a well known moniker was arguing that the Camry couldn’t have done 200km/h without developing wings and flying off to wakanda but it happened in that the car still feels planted on the road and I did that speed for more than a quarter of the journey with the Range Rover.
I understand how painful it feels when you achieved a feat(whether by miracle or physics) and someone or people can’t believe it happened. Just resist the urge to continue to shalaye and keep safe and alive by not trying to prove a point by trying to do it again. Life na one oh.

Update

I have now had this car for six months.

In that period, I've put on about 5,000 miles on it.

Zero mechanical failures so far. I've had to deal with a few things, however.

- Brake pad change
- Front rotors resurfacing
- Front linkages replacement
- Control arms
- Oil change

These are under regular maintenance.

Apart from that, I had my battery fail randomly. A 75aH battery that was bought in Nigeria. Replaced with a 100aH battery.

While travelling, I had to go through some water, and it shorted my right headlight control module. A replacement was 40k.

Total expenditure on all maintainance and fixes is about 200k as it stands. Though, some of those were due to making the wrong decision.

1. Bought brake pads that turned out to be fake, had to buy another set within a few days.
2. Bought linkages that were also fake, bent almost immediately I left the workshop
3. Bought toks control arms that also got damaged.

As you can see, there are plenty of fake parts for these cars. Funny enough, all of those fixes have been on the front end of the car. Brakes, arms, links. It's understandable, as it's a heavy grand touring car with a very heavy engine in front. As such, front suspension and brakes suffer a lot.

If not for having to buy the aforementioned parts multiple times, I'd have only spent about 140k. Lesson learned.

So far, it's been a good car. Comfortable, reasonably prestigious, decent handling, good power. No regrets. Due for another brake pad change, though.

See you all at the 1-year mark. If all goes as planned, I'll do a facelift to the 2014 design.

good to hear you are really taking of your E550.
normally the 100amps battery is suitable for such complex cars, the 75amps won't really supply full power to the car's electrical system..
