HeavenlyBang; isn't the 100aH battery too much for the vehicle or did the manufacturer specs suggest a 100aH battery for the vehicle?

Mercs require 100aH batteries. Plenty of electronics. All RWD Mercs, at least. I don't know about the CLA/GLA.

Now i see why the 75 amp battery was draining drastically and couldn't handle the electronics workload grin

No idea. Kick was dying. I'm actually pissed I spent money on a new battery months ago, since it turned out to be a kick issue. I just didn't consider the starter because service records showed it was changed about 18k miles before I got the car. It appears the replaced one wasn't of very high quality, however.

Had to pay 90k for original Bosch starter. Hope I didn't overpay. Didn't trust the particular Tokunbo that was on offer. How is your kick doing?

Doing fine so far. The kick that came with the car, and was changed in US by the previous owner about 20k miles ago, turned out to be fake. The one I have looks more authentic. Also Bosch.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Haha, sometime in 2019 the previous switched from a Mercedes dealer to an independent technician. I think that was the cause.

Almost two years ago, I bought my first pseudo-performance vehicle.

An 07 Infiniti G35 with 306 HP. Great car, and powerful enough to punch way above its weight class. My user experience probably a few other people I know to get the same car.

Anyway, two years after, I'd gotten a bit more mature and just wanted something more comfortable. Of course, I wouldn't tolerate going to a slower car, so it also had to be powerful enough.

Shortlisted:

- Cadillac ATS
- Dodge Charger RT
- Audi A6
- Acura TL SH-AWD

Slowly started canceling them off the list.

The ATS would've been difficult to own due to availability of parts. The only cars it shares most parts with are the 2014+ CTS and 2016+ Camaro, none of which are popular in the country.

The Charger was similar. I hit up Eddee and realized that I wouldn't be able to get parts easily in my side of the country.

The A6 would've been perfect but Audi's tend to be designed by brainless junkies.

The TL just didn't have the grunt I needed.

The last options? An Infiniti M56 or a W212 E550.

I went with the latter. Albeit, in coupe form. The sedan E550 is probably the better car but was exclusively offered with airmatic. The coupe used regular electronic adaptive shocks instead. That was the one for me.

Apparently it's been about a year since the thread was created.

So far, I've documented all my maintenance.
Essentially comes down to control arms, linkages, one bad shock, and a kick starter. My alternator is also going out as well. I've put about 8k miles on the car since it was purchased. Roughly 1k km monthly.

It's never stranded me, apart from one time I bought fuel that was mixed with water and the car died about 500m from the station. Had to empty the tank and service the entire fuel system, injectors, and plugs.

So far, it's been a good experience. I hope to keep it for about 15 more months, then maybe look at a Porsche or a newer Merc.

If there was one place I would have sworn you can get quality oil, I would have said Stanel world without blinking an eye lid.

I played a little part in the construction and was there the day the project was commissioned. It looked like it had great prospects. At the time, virtually all vehicles in Awka came to Stanel to buy fuel.

Surprised they are now notorious for selling bad fuel.

To more pressing matters, I understand the parts for the G37 may not be readily available but how bad is it getting regular parts like linkages, control arms, ball joints e.t.c

I've also had issues after buying from Stanel on my Infiniti. About two years ago.

So it looks like they may have intermittent problems.

You'll see G parts if you look hard enough. Depends on where you're as well. Should be much better in Lagos.

If you see the Mobil and Total filling stations where I buy petrol from ehn, their structures are terribly looking with faded paints. But I trust the quality of their petrol.
