I am one person that puts sentiments aside when anything has to do with me business..

But this time,I hired out of sentiments, the new staff was a brother to my must trusted staff.so I didn't think twice hiring him...

My Brethren,it back fired.....Then I fired him straight away .

I don't know much but I thing I knw is don't hire two related friends or family members to an organization, there's strong tendency for organized crime in such environment

This is another point entirely.

From this point of view its survival not experience again. When the sellers are more than the buyers goods have to become cheap.

You cannot therefore blame an employer for applying market tactics to the Labour Market. Capitalism is all about profit.

That aside.. depends also on experience, despite the employment crunch I know peeps that are being chased with offers.

One guy was offered 230k almost 80k more than his current salary. he resigned, worked 2 months in the new place and after his second salary he was told his new pay would be 80k.

He resigned on the spot and was working again for 170 by the end of the month another new place.

So the trend also matters. Demand and supply.

Experience in the industry determine such, for example working as a business development in a pension fund administrator you can decide to be changing job in every two months. Speaking from experience

Is not easy still cry at interval, though he was 74yrs. Is a pain that will remain with me till the day i die. Had to be strong cause that's the only option and no amount of tears will bring him back to life.

Sincerely, this should be applicable to Nigerian politicians. I believe nothing wrong with that.

99.9% employees want to rip you off. the best way to recruit a Nigerian without story that touch the heart, they must swear by Ogun or any Oracle before been employed. My brother if u do that 90% won't collect the job even if you pay them 300k monthly

So it’s now based on a flat income. The new manager pays a certain amount monthly

This is very wise of you bro. Keep on the good work

Survival as in what?
You want to throw someone experience away by your own hand.

Can u employ a bricklayer and put him as driver if the bricklayer is for survival?

You made a statement that does not have any HR value.

Sine your company cannot pay experience person his money , why not employ a jjc and put him as MD/CEO and pay him jjc salary after all your watchword is survival.

Pls don't bring naija mentality to run over international best practices.

Amazon was sued in trying to play this trick using volunteer.

On your story
That's just one.
There are many others that it may not work for.

For once in my life I hired competence over familiarity and it paid off . my first gaze at him, I saw responsibility and trust . I already hired him in my mind before the conversation started.

What industry?

Guy survival from the point of the employee and not employer.

If you feel the value you can give isn't at par with the employment benefits then don't take the job.

You cannot accept an offer and later claim its beneath your experience.

My apartment has HR value. When we decide what we are worth then that's the value that would be assigned to us.

if you factor in the economy of the country with unemployment on the rise, you may start to understand what the guy is tryna say.....its not always as easy as you think to say no to the job opening while unemployed even with all the experience you're packing....thats even likely the reason highly experienced people stay out of job for longer periods when laid off or are more likely to be underpaid....

We are still saying the same thing. It's not easy I agree but he made a statement which was people shouldn't hire experienced hands and pay them peanuts which I countered with if you feel the wage is beneath you don't take the job.

If economy makes you take it, grit your teeth and move on. No need to hate your employer.

Honest I know what I am talking about. The employer is all about profit. You cannot determine your pay unless you are in a special class
