The North is safe and a good place to live and work.

Dont ever go back to the SE as you will regret it.

Listen to this words of wisdom

Saintinoo:

I am not trying to discourage you but the North is not where you wil hustle, forget the cheap food in the North, you will look at your life in the next 10years and find out that you are in same level.
The lifestyle of the Northerners made it that way.

Op listen good, ignore those telling you how they are succeeding or succeeded in the north coz i am very certain they are all muslims or in skme ways tribally or culturally close to them. I did my secondary school in a place where not a single xtian reside and I wouldn't wish my experience on my enemy meanwhile my cousin who was a muslim had a much better experience. Muslims are somewhat cruel and hnkind towards the other religion, it gets worse when tribalism sets jn.

Good evening guys, I need your advice on this: I am pressured by my family not to travel to Taraba state for job due to various news about insurgency whereas I served there. My parent don't want me to leave and I find it difficult to stay at home please i need your suggestions..

Its your decision OP. At the end of the day you won't gain much staying at home. If you have a job opportunity in Taraba, take it and build on from there. I worked in Taraba 2 years and Jalingo is quiet and safe. Take your opportunities.

Where is the home?
Which state or town?
However I don't know when you you served at Taraba but even if it is last year, the situation there has changed to what it was then.
Also the situation in the country does not support moving here and there at least for now.
Thirdly , what assurance do you have that you can easily get job there now?
Why did you come back initially after your service?
Well, I wish you the best in whatever decision you make

If you re sure of getting a job there.. I did say u should damn all consequences and go. Except if the job is not certain.

Same parents will taunt u with your joblessness while reminding you that u eat too much food without contributing anything when they re fed up with u.

See ehh....everything in life is all about risks...intact, you living in Nigeria at this point in time is a risk on its own, so why the fear of taking a risk on a risk?

Oga I dey use God beg you, please go, I made same mistake and am suffering it.
At some point those your parents will get tired of you, a case of see finish and they will frustrate the hell out of your life. Hold on to that opportunity and leave the house for them. Forget all this insurgency stuff, na the day your God appoint say you go die you go die, noting will prevent it.
If I get a job opposite bokoharam camp in sambisa forest, noting will make me not go for the job, if na die make we die.

Bro. This is exactly what I'm facing right now, I'm a graduate and all my plans was to travel to lagos but my parent are opposing it. Now I'm just stuck here without doing anything rather than eat-sleep-eat-sleep. I'm actually frustrated now with tension. my mind now is disorganized, should I follow their opinion or should I follow my mind??….. And the way culture and religion puts it, there is no chance for disobeying your parents whether they are right or wrong. They painted lagos as a jungle full of beast that is ready to devour me. I'm confused right now. I really want to follow my mind but I don't want to disobey them.

My brother, you are responsible for your own life o. I also served in Taraba 3 years ago and went home (delta) immediately after service in 2019. Na so I search for jobs tire even travelled to Abuja to apply for jobs all to no avail. I had to move back to Jalingo to manage school job and to be honest schools here in Jalingo pay better than the ones in the south. I currently work with one of the biggest schools here, basic pay is way above minimum wage not to talk of other side benefits. My family members and friends almost crucified me for the decision I took but, when I ask them say who among them go fit foot my bills, nobody fit answer. I may not be rich but at least I dey pay my bills with enough change left. Taraba is 10 times safer than most states in the south. I never encounter any wahala. Insecurity issues here is not as it is in the other parts of the country.
Same with Kano state, I can't wait to be done with school so I can return to Kano

I laugh when I see people on this platform taunt the North for her insecurity issues like the south does not face her own fair share of it, it took me moving to Lagos to realize that Kano and in fact most Northern states are way better than whatever you could get down south

Oga, I'm in Taraba state, Jalingo to be precise. Nothing dey this town in terms of job o. Everywhere dry! I served here as well. Unless you have godfathers you can't get civil service and if you get, government can owe you up to a year salary.
To tell you how hard it is, I'm relocating to southwest next month.

Mind you Jalingo is peaceful, no insurgency but outside Jalingo? OYO

Taraba don dry!

Go North, it is very peaceful right now.

Don't be dismayed by fake news pushers and alarmists. Even if you are to fall victim to any attack just know that it is the will of Allah.

Story if you are skilled and with small sense you can build very well. That is why I laugh when I come online here and many fools are abusing the north when their brothers are the ones given jobs and contracts over the locals.

Many of the staff we employed in Abuja and Kano were from the South all parts. Some ended up in government jobs others even did visa lottery which we supported and they went abroad. Today we still have 70% of staff from the south. Anybody that tells you not to go where standard of living is cheaper doesn’t want your progress. Just make sure there is a real job for you there and stay away from trouble makers.

North is where to start for southerners, now and in the past . A significant proportion of notable and highly successful southerners started from the north thus falsifying you same level theory.
Few examples of those whose fame or success was related to the north include Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Luis Ojukwu, Chukwuma Nzeugwu, Cyperian Ikwensi,Dora Akunyili, General Ike Nwachukwu, Rochas Okorocha Donald Duke and thousands more. This is only from Eastern side of the Niger, as for those from the western side many have become even elected Governors and senior military officers representing the North. I will advise the teacher in Taraba to carry go , he is on the right track. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Even if you live among your ancestors and relatives , you have no guarantee that you will reach 100 years of age.

Don't listen to your parents bro. Go and secure the job asap.

I served in Ogun, ibafo precisely. I had alot of opportunities to secure a job there, but my mum insisted I must come back to East. I got a teaching job in the East but the pay wasn't ok. I had to move down to Abj to join my friend in POS business, I started mine but I was robbed of all my savings. Currently doing nothing now and patiently waiting for the day I will rest in peace.

I can't take it no more.

I really don't like replying people online, but did you just say standard of living being cheap?
Now that is the problem with the North, they do not even know what they are doing.

Exposure occurs when u have had interface with various situations, encounters, et al. Even if the devil dines in the North, there is always something to learn from there. What is all this lifestyle talk, u think your lifestyle is better over there, who told u? Remember, you are a savage elsewhere too and it doesn't stop u from getting there if you really have too.
I am not trying to stop the OP from moving to the north, the person qouting you is someone who have stayed, mastered and studies almost 12 Northern states, reason why i am very confident about what i am saying, the OP can as well come and try, no body says he can not make it in the North, but it will be faster for him up South.

And about he North and their lifestyle, only someone who have stayed in the North for about 10years will understand what i mean, their mentality is a no growth mentality, you have to fast and pray to break that.

Most times people do things without involving God in everything. Pray before you go so as to get direction so you won't return the same way you went. If you're a Christian pray and ask God for a solution, if you're a Muslim visit Alfas and ask them to pray for you and if you're a traditionalists visit them and ask them to help you check if that place you're travelling to will favour you. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ but am only saying this cause you might not be a Christian and you might belong to other religion.
Oga,Chet up jare!
He is asking for logical reasons, you are bringing religion
Did God not give brains to use to make decisions like this?
Na your type dey pray nonstop for better Nigeria without doing anything about it
