You mean since the last great Spurs team of the mid 2010s most especially the 2014 team that won it all. That Lakers team was pretty much a two man tandem with good side pieces. Nothing about that team screams perfect/intelligent ball movement to me.

Perhaps I used the wrong word.
I should have said eye-candy, fire-powered team.

They had pieces that could shoot so well around shaq and kobe.

My problem with the spurs was that they didn't have a long streak.

And it seemed the coach always modified the pattern of the team to suit the reighning star as time went on.

At first it built to favour duncan, later it became ginobli, then later Tony parker, then later kawhi leonard then towards the end a well balanced team with quick passes.

I can't call that long stretch of inconsistent finals/conference-finals appearance a dinasty or absorb an identity out of it.

And watching the 2014 finals of the spurs vs miami, I saw a finals whereby the ball moved better than the players.

The spurs were not moving, but the ball was moving.

It was like a handball game.
It was Catch, Pass, Catch, pass, Shoot.

Yes, they played better than the heats.

That team with such kinds of only-ball movements can't be compared to the lakers in any of those milinium finals.

And that was why a lot of peep also called the spurs a boring-team.

The warriors from 2015-18 were the best and Eye-candy team since that Lakers Team over a stretch of years.

And im not even a warriors fan.

In amateur leagues, contact is definitely frowned upon. Less contact, less injury, less intimidation.

For pro leagues where money is involved, you gon get touched. At that point its a grown man game. If you are small like Iverson, you need to accept there will be Shaqs in the league, you are playing for money so some ruckus is expected. Obviously what is called foul in an euro league may be nothing in the nba, so league you are in matters too.

To me, given the athleticism and strength in the NBA, you should allow enough physicality to make it hard for a freak like Durant or Curry to just load up and be dropping 40pts.

The league already allows guards to D up on centers aggressively. Lets just be fair and allow aggressive D on those guys we know can shoot from the logo
Thanx for the explanation, learnt alot here that I never knew before.
Personally, I see nothing wrong in durant or curry going all 40 and 50 when they do.

If it's easy, let everyone else do it.

I support the game as a no-contact-sport.

Defense should be played from the legs not not with the hands&body.

Have a very good shuffle of feet.

It all comes from the feet.

Anticipate screens on ur left&right at an given time.

Gary payton and pippen would have never have had so much problems guarding curry or durant at the perimeter and also From-the-Perimeter-To-The-Rim.

Another thing is don't allow them get long bouncing rhythms without trying to steal or faking-a-steal.
You remember that bull dog from cleveland in that finals.
The australian. Someone remind me his name again.

The dude faked more steals than he actually intended to steal.
And it worked alot against curry.

A particular coach back then told me never allow you direct opponent bounce the ball 3times without either attempting-a-steal or faking-to-attempt-a-steal.

It knocks them out of rhythm.

but on the other hand, there is clearly no solution to their good shooting.

Best way to stop such good shooters is placing a mismatch on them as there primary-defender.

Then the real-direct-defender becomes the secondary defender.

It's harder to beat a direct-match when he is a helped that just pops in from no-where.

Do u grab?

It becomes TEAM-DEFENCE.

Personally, I fear curry and durant's handle to their good-shooting.

People say curry is just a shooter.
That's the biggest deciept curry has on us all.

He is one of the deadliest handlers and penetrator the league has ever seen.

He is not a spot-up shooter like klay or reggie miller.

Most times he takes off, he dribbles to the exact spot he wants to shoot from, same with durant.

Im an amateur o, just saying what I see. We got some rules experts out here tho , if they decide to chime in.

Are you talking about Dellavedova? Lol, that guy cant stop Curry! Curry is the gold standard for shooting. Pls dont mention Reggie Miller in the same sentence grin

I agree Boss because CP3 has been unbelievable.. Infact this has to be his best playoffs season but make I hear say my Slimreaper no rip like 2 more rings.

The man deserves it abeg! He has come a long way from his time at OKC to the Warriors and basically putting in the work with this Nets team. Despite the distractions and injuries he still finds ways to get it done on the court.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 1:49pm On Jun 12, 2021
If you are the Nets, you can’t lose tomorrow night! Absolutely can’t! It would spell big trouble.. Come out aggressive, play a fast paced transition basketball, limit the Bucks to a half court team so the court is shrunken, stay one on one if they ISO Giannis again, catch him early up the court but get some weak side defensive help and guard the perimeter..

The Bucks have to keep this game under 100 to stand a chance.. anything above 100 is pushing their luck.

Not comparing reggie to curry.

Reggie is better as a spot shooter. Curry does both.

Dellavedova could at least stiffle his rhythm from catching fire.

Why hasn't Giannis gone to see Olajuwon, en? He should have done that a long time ago, once he realized his shortcomings. That man would be averaging 50 in this series.

I always believe a great player has to be great at what they do at all times before expanding their games. They also have to be the best player on their roster on most nights before we look at the others..

The GOAT was great at his jumpers, had a great jump, speed, incredible footwork and so on, KAJ was a god under the rim, his footwork and passing were incredible, LeBum was unstoppable whenever he put his head down and drove to the bucket and has the power going to attack the rim, The Black Mamba, kills you with his jumpers, drives and handles in transition, The Slimreaper is a demon with his jumpers and when he attacks the rim especially in transition, Curry is always cooking from deep.. and so on and so forth with other dominant players.

Giannis is unstoppable under that rim whenever he decides to player there, I don’t think there is anyone outside of Embiid that has the capacity to dominate the rim in this era outside of Giannis but you see him looking to play outside his strength which frustrates me.. He is now afraid of staying under the rim because he wants to avoid the FT line. We see him shooting 3s and playing the ISO point forward which has been mostly successful, however when opponents build a wall or get better with help/ weak side offense he becomes confused and starts taking bad shots.

You can’t employ or develop new skills you never used in the regular season during the playoffs. The playoffs is about being great at what you do best at all times. I made a similar argument last season when folks talked about Giannis expanding his game and I said, not now because he has not exactly perfected what he is good at just yet..

It wouldn't work. Let Him work with Pat or may be Timmy. He probably won't ever be able to shoot like those two aforementioned players as they had two of the sweetest jumpers of all time but atleast He could learn some of their Post moves most especially Ewing's.

You need to be have some semblance of footwork for your workout with the Dream to pay any dividend so Giannis working with Hakeem at this point would be fruitless. He'd look like Bambi on ice if He tried to incorporate any of Hakeem's Guard like moves. Leave that to the likes of D.Booker .

He should have 2, 3 years ago. It may be too late to incorporate that into his game now. It wasn't as if Olajuwon came in with all that footwork. He worked hard at it, honing and honing into multiple-headed machinery.

The Clippers are catching Donovan high, literally in his face will little space and doubling him to force the ball out of his hands.. Lets see if they can maintain that strategy on Donovan.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 2:01am On Jun 13, 2021
The Clippers needed that time out and have responded well.
Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 2:03am On Jun 13, 2021
Don Mitch is being blitzed. He either has to get strategic with his passing or Joe Ingles should bring the ball up.

Barring a choke of humongous proportions they have won this one. PG13 came to play today. Reggie Jackson has reinvented his OKC form. He has been a revelation since he became a starter in the playoffs. The Jazz body language makes me feel they came to split the 2 games at Staple centre.

Bogdanovic having a stench of a game.
Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 3:08am On Jun 13, 2021
Gobert makes his FTs at a good rate. What is Giannis' excuse again? Man spends 13 seconds shooting FTs and still makes only 60% of them. He is better of just throwing it anyhow.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 3:19am On Jun 13, 2021
The Clippers have lost their defensive discipline and focus and just like that the lead has shrunk. This is what I was looking to see if they can maintain.
Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 3:44am On Jun 13, 2021
George Niang sef will say he is an NBA player? grin. I feel like Don Mitch is not getting some fouls. Kawhi and PG13 have been dominant in this quarter.
