Screeding is the Process of flattening & smoothing a wall or ground.

Screeding your wall before painting brings out the real beauty and quality of your paint. It gives it a more compact and beautiful look than does only painting your wall. They must be considered as an essential option before painting as they give a perfect outlook to your walls. Screeding helps to remove any cracks, flaws, or holes in your walls.

When you properly level-off your wall with screeding before applying a Wallpaper, 3D Panel or quality paint over it, it helps you not only get a perfect look for your wall but also strengthen the integrity wallpaper or 3D Panel & also your painting – it won’t wear off so easily.

In fact, silk and shiny paints (like Stucco, Venetian Plaster etc) on a screeded wall give a perfect outlook of high-quality interior designs. For a perfectly smooth and shiny walls, screeding before painting is a highly recommended.

Materials Needed for Screeding.

Screeding Trowel
Screeding Paint
Sandpaper
Leveller or Range
& finally :
Cement is one of the most used screeding material that gives your walls fine finish and smooth look.
Either POP (plaster of Paris) cement or the regular black cement (BUA, Dangote etc)

Using POP cement for wall screeding can be a bit expensive than using the regular cement.

However both are durable.

After Screeding is dried up : it's imperative to Sandpaper it for a proper Finishing.

POP (Plaster of Paris), is a quick-setting plaster made of white powder that hardens when exposed to water and then allowed to dry. POP is mostly used to make false ceilings and protrusions in home interior design. Apart from designing the perfect false ceiling, it can be used in a number of ways in every room.

Advantages of POP

It is light in weight and more durable.
It has low thermal conductivity.
It is very good fire resistant and hence a very good heat insulating material.
It does not shrink while setting. Therefore, it does not develop cracks on heating or setting unlike the polystyrene / Plaster boards.
It forms a thick surface to resist normal knocks after drying.
It mixes up easily with water and is easy to spread and level.
It has good adhesion on fibrous materials.
It gives a firm surface on which the colours can settle.
It has no appreciable chemical action on paint and does not cause alkali attack.
Plaster of Paris gives a decorative interior finish. Its gypsum content provides it a lot of shine and smoothness.
It can easily be moulded into any shape.
