Even back in the early 2000s I knew that the amount of over reliance on oil money was going to lead to a catastrophe and when 2014 hit my suspicions were confirmed, the economy is over reliant on exportation over importation and unsurprisingly is unstable being that its built off pretty much nothing that revolves around Nigerians selling goods to other Nigerians. Once the blow from the crash is recovered from theres gonna be a push for a diversified economy that allows all sorts of buissnesses to form. It sucks but oh well at least were not Venezuela...

Watch and see.

When oil prices bounches back, the government that will be in power, will not diversify the economy, they will brag and brag how they brought Nigerians out of poverty till the next crash and then the cycles continues.

The only people that can diversify the economy is the private sector, diversification comes from the ability of the private sector to create new industries and technologies.

Government can not do anything except get addicted to their opium which is oil for revenue

Yeah I saw that it's also why even when the crash happened there are still signs that the country is recovering from the blow(partly thanks to Nigerians but also thanks to christ), just look at what happened to libya or iran or Iraq or Venezuelans when their economies got affected...

The guy even went out of his way to state he wanted to impose sharia law in the whole fucking country, bent himself over to boko haram and then proceeded to call himself a registered Democrat in this broken corrupt mess of a government that most Nigerians would do better with it being downsized

Venezuela's problem was that they were far more import dependent than Nigeria.

Infact they imported almost everything.

Funnily enough, Venezuela in the 1990's had a government that was on the way to developing a good savings culutre, and keeping the country on an even financial keel. But the reforms were hitting people in the pocket...which led Hugo Chavez to campaign based on 'spreading the wealth'...and then he happened to be in power when oil prices shot up in the later 2000's.....thus his government spent and spent and spent with no thought for tomorrow.
