I don't think anybody is more quiet as I am....still I performed when I worked as a marketer in one of the Nigeria leading commercial banks. I do more of thinking and I prefer solving problems silently...... I've been trying to change myself but it ain't working.

It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for an introvert to pass the leaders-seeking assessment center stage of most multinational companies

Depends on the type of job. A job that will have a lot to do with relating directly with clients will require a more outspoken, somewhat friendly personality.

Someone who's going for a programing or engineering job may not require all of that. A medical practitioner too doesn't have to be an extrovert.

it depends on the nature of the job

any jobs that requires customership from people actually needs extroverts and not introverts

Quite frankly, i think it depends on the nature of the job. Some jobs require you to maintain an outspoken personality and in a situation where you don't, it becomes an hassle as your supervisor might think you don't know much or cannot express yourself. One just needs to determine what is required of the role and fit right in. Just my two cents.

I am an introvert medic, my job is perfect for me as I really enjoy one-on-one discussion, aka consulting. So it feels natural and I just flow........ without a group or crowd of people

I think you are getting it absolutely wrong. There are two categories of introverts; Melancholic and Phlegmatic. In both temperaments, being introverted is not considered a strength, it is what they do with the introvert time that matters. You can't succeed phenomenally in life as an introvert. That's why you need to be sure if someone is quiet out of low self esteem or quiet to in a quest to create impact. Introvertism may even stem from a behavioural disorder that should be treated right from childhood.visit www.freestuffsng.com for latest freestuffs in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.

Generally speaking nigerian culture especially the Yoruba's aren't all that nice to introverts..... people think you're proud or you're depressed, and absolutely have no regard for your privacy. In terms of career choices and the work place I think the best option for introverts is freelancing (graphics, programming...etc), in the work place the introvert best fits the problem solving roles because he/she usually can see the problems which others usually can't.

My two cents.

In Nigeria Every worker in the company belongs to the marketing dept so employers will not like introverts who may find it difficult to do marketing.

Are introverted persons a turnoff to Nigerian employers?

being that they barely have friends for networking.

They hardly maintain visible social media presence.

They are conservative in nature and cherish quiet time.

They are barely noticeable.
Depends on your area of specialization. If you have a company, will you employ an introvert as a marketer or front desk officer?
Introverts are good as operation staffs while extroverts are good marketers. If you don't fit in, park aside, there is no sentiment in business.
However, if the marketers are to achieve their target as a team, there is always need for 20% introvert. That is the person that will provide solution to 80% of any obstacle before the team but the extroverts are the executioners of the solution.

Well, if it's a job that requires an analytical mind, a most introvert would get the job done better.

The constant mind isolation has turned their minds to some sought of the machine.

You'll be amazed what goes on in some of their minds if put to good use. They tend to have more time to put into stuff and they are also hardly distracted.

Then you'll need to count them out if it's a job that requires networking like a sales job, that's more or like their albatross.

Your post reminds me of a guy that was behind the success of a particular organization. His job description was to bring out profitable ideas that will grow the company. His office was isolated n station in a quiet area within the organization n people were restricted access to his office to enable him to think out of the box. He was among the top earners in the organization.

If the job requires a little bit of ITK, then its a turnoff.
Sometime before your intelligence and skill becomes noticeable, it might be late because some employers believe in physical presence and engagement especially field work.
My advice is, continue to be who you are. If any employee or contractor(s) your company engage come across you, let he or she be able to testify that you're no doubt very intelligent.

Not really but it easy to underestimate an introvert and employers are no different, before they see you in action. They throw judgment based on your calm and silent nature

What employers care about is what you can offer their organisation in terms of productivity... No one cares if you're introvert or extrovert so far you're good with what you're hired to do.

I don't think so, there are a lot of politics that goes on in an office environments and it goes beyond knowing your job. Do you know that some people can appraise high because you are friendly without knowing the job? If you really want to grow in office environments, is more of politics, which extrovert are good at than skills.

Then what translates to being shy?
Being shy is when you're uncomfortable among people. It should also interest you that "some extroverts" are shy people too. On the other hand, introverts enjoy spending time with just one or two people, rather than large groups or crowds. Both introverts and extroverts can be shy.
