Let me drop this here for Biological Science graduates. U stand a very good chance of landing a locum job immediately after the training and puts ur foot by the door towards achieving the ultimate goal of becoming state registered Biomedical Scientist.

What of those whose UK masters will be in hospital health care management but have HND in biochemistry , just coming from naija with no hcpc registration... would this training help

Can anyone help me with info, please?
I checked on the Scotland Govt website but it’s just so muddled up and unclear.

Can a visitor arriving from Nigeria, into Scotland self quarantine at home for 10 days?
Or will it have to be hotel quarantine (for £1,750).

Thanks.

My sister came last month. She had to land Heathrow then take another flight to Scotland. To avoid the hotel quarantine. And she was coming from the Netherlands. They have a list. Once the country is not on it you must do hotel quarantine if arriving straight.

Yes definitely. After the training they get work within the NHS as locum band 4 staff. You don’t need the HCPC registration to work as locum, once they are in, they can start working on the registration

The jobs can’t be found on NHS website Cus they are through recruitment agencies. You can get some of these agencies on LinkedIn as well but the training first so you can update your CV.

Hi guys, is it possible for one to embark on a 5 days trip to Nigeria?

How would doing covid tests impact such a trip? I hear there are some rules around doing post arrival covid test in Nigeria and covid test to be done before departing Nigeria.

Can anyone please help explain how this could work?

You have to do covid test pre departure.... I think the free nhs test is no longer accepted. Then before boarding there a Nigerian form you complete and still pay for a covid test to be done in naija 7 days after arrival.

So essentially a pre and post covid tests...however not sure how a 5 days trip would work

Please Let’s all be guided. Don’t drink and drive in the UK embarassed

He was asking me to leave my company and look for more money. I said baba I’m comfortable at my job and I’m trying to stay and I’ve not thought of moving elsewhere yet.

After listening to him rant about his recent achievements I almost felt I was doing bad in my career.

I was surprised he drove this new car into Central London.

The moral of the story remains please avoid the temptation of drinking even if na 1 bottle and driving. Also don’t let no another person achievements make you feel less about yourself….
Let me go and look for my friend

I've had my UK driving license for decades but if you gave me a car now, I would sell it as I live in London, do not have young kids and don't really need a car as there is night bus every where if I go out on a drinking session and if I'm too tired, £15 is not too much to pay for a cab back home as I don't venture too far when i go drinking.

I used to work as an Accountant in a membership Organization for Top company and council executives in central London and one of the members was a millionaire in pounds who makes money while he sleeps as his books are sold in all the international airport bookshops worldwide and one day I asked him if he had a car and he said he does not need one as there is night bus and cabs in London. And this is a millionaire in pounds !!!

I also remember as a student / mini cab driver, one of my English customers asked me how i could afford a car as he couldn't after many years of working. Oyinbo lifestyle is way simpler than ours and they do not put any form of financial pressure on themselves or onto their friends who earn les than them. They love minding their own business which we Nigerians are not good at.

if a Nigerian loses his job, next thing he will hear someone tell someone about it at the local naija restaurant in London and he never told any of the 2 parties about his job loss. Too much financial competition among Nigerians even between husband and wife. SMH.

Nigerians like showing off too much and you will see a Nigerian buying a car of £40,000 with cash and continue living in a council flat when he could have bought a good functioning car for max £5k and put the remaining £35k as a deposit on a house and own his own home.

The last time I drove in London is in 2004 and even in those days whenever I went to a club or bar, I may drive there but once I drink (on Fridays mainly) , I will park my car somewhere safe near the restaurant and come back for it on Saturday afternoon.

Your friend is lucky he did not kill someone in the accident as that used to be an automatic jail term. Also advise him to tone down his tendencies to show off his material things and earnings as there are young Chinese, Indian and oyinbo boys who earn multiples of what he earns and they will never tell their friends or enemies how much they earn and they may not even feel the need to have a car if their work and social life revolves round central London and they don't feel the need to brag to their friends about their earnings.

Mark Zuckerberg is worth $118 billion and he still hunts and kills his own meat and wears the same color T-shirt and jeans every day as he has multiples of them as he says he does not think his brain power should be used to think of color combinations every day.

Nigerians like showing off too much and this is the reason I stopped going to Nigerian parties many years ago. There was just too much of everyone bragging, boasting, eyeing themselves, showing off, pretensions and sizing up one another that I've never missed Nigerian parties at all since I stopped going. I would rather go to a restaurant and buy my own choice food and drink than to be trapped in a Nigerian party full of pretentious braggarts.

Most of the Christmas work parties i have attended. Colleague have always gone with the intention to drink to stupid, part of that plan you always hear them say they take a taxi or uber in the end... risking DUI is so foolish

You are correct. I remember working for a British American Tobacco subsidiary many years ago and after a Company Christmas party I entered the train going in the wrong direction as I was plastered after the drinking session with some of our rugby playing South African hard drinking staff and at circa 3am, I had to pay £60 for a cab from Woking to Clapham Junction. I had a car at home but it would have been of no use anyways and even if it was handy, I will never risk drink driving as to do otherwise is to risk jail time, criminal record and loss of your livelihood.

We Nigerians like unnecessary show off. Even some Oyinbo millionaires do not own cars and if they did, a lot of them will not drive it into Central London so as to avoid paying the £10 congestion charge, not because they cannot afford to but because there is the tube there and trains to take them back and forth but not with us Nigerians who want to show off their material things to less well off friends and family as a way of feeling bigger and better than them. Now his showmanship may end up costing him his freedom and his job and if he is unlucky a criminal record to boot which means for 5 years he may not be able to get any job that searches the criminal record bureau to see if prospective employees have a criminal record.

All self inflicted because he wanted to show off his car to a friend he earns more money than but that same friend is now in a better place than him.

Hopefully he has learnt his lesson the hard way.

While you are thinking of completing your 4 bed flat in Nigeria, and also paying a mortgage in the UK (at the same time).

Personally I prefer bricks and mortar in the UK than same in Nigeria as I know for a fact that my property investment here will appreciate in value whilst the one in Nigeria will also appreciate but currency fluctuations will devalue any gains you make and moreover, it is not a definite that all of us residing abroad will make a successful permanent relocation back to Naija with the way things are going and so all my property investments will be in a country i live in currently (the UK) and if Nigeria becomes a place where one can relocate to finally (which is my prayer) then there is no harm in selling a property in the UK and taking the profits to buy a property in Naija cash down. But before then, i will keep all my money / investments in the UK.

Although I've not always had the above mindset but I relocated finally (I thought) to Nigeria in 2006 to open a restaurant at Ikeja and found out the hard way that any honest money you take to Nigeria to do business cannot compete with the tons of dirty money in circulation from our greedy politicians and I had to throw in the towel and come back and start afresh in London in 2008 (at the start of the global financial meltdown) .

But for some strange reason this still hasn't put me off relocating to Nigeria finally sometime in the future but that takes a lot of cash although if I won the lottery today, I would relocate back to Nigeria yesterday 'cos East or West, home is the best. Although if I won the UK lottery, before relocating back to Naija, I would spend 99.9% of my Lotto win on buying UK property and rent them all out (preferably to councils) to generate a handsome rental income.

Instead of going for such yahoo boy influenced unrealistic young ladies, I would rather remain single and save the little I earn as marriage in itself is like warfare nowadays regardless of who you marry as social media and easy internet access has made the comparison of ones spouse to unreasonable social media / internet standards the order of the day and so any potential spouse who thinks a yahoo boy is richer than me can go please herself with the said yahoo boy and lets see where it takes her in max 5 years time when we can then compare notes to see who was wise and who was foolish.

Once a woman I want to date compares me to someone else or gives me any feeling that she thinks i don't earn enough, my house / clothes etc is not good enough, I don't have a car, then that's the end of that relationship or my interest.

2 years ago one of the Bros that we drink together at a Naija Restaurant in London introduced me to his wife's younger sister whose fiancee had abandoned in London and went to Naija to get married to another lady. I invited the now single lady out and at our first and only date at a Naija restaurant she asked me if I had a car (she has one) and I said Yes that my car is Red and is double decker - referring to London buses. Maybe that put her off coupled with the fact that she told her brother in law that I was too open and honest with her on a first date but my point is that when I had my first UK driving license, I doubt if she could ride a bicycle yet talk less of drive a car and a woman that judges a potential spouse based on material things is just not worth taking serious and thats why a lot of women fall for the wrong man based on his outward display of material things.

Materialistic women don't realize that an unemployed guyman can rent a very expensive looking car for £50 a day and tell her he just bought it and he can repeat this with multiple rented cars to deceive her that he is so wealthy as to have many expensive cars and the materially influenced lady will not know any better and will think the guyman is more successful than a hardworking man who has a good stable job and can afford to buy a car but chooses not to as he does not need one.

By the time she realizes that the guyman does not have a job and those cars were rental cars its too late as guyman probably has had his way with her and may have abandoned her with belle. but she only has herself to blame as she looked down on hardworking young men and went for the flashy unemployed guyman because she forgot that not all that glitters is gold and now she has to lie on the bed she made for herself and the hard working young man she looked down on is no longer available on the dating scene.

Nigerians in the UK simply imported that lousy part of our intra- and post-Babangida regime mania of feeling driven to acquire all material things possible and to "compete" with one another in the process. Whatever cohesiveness we used to have as a society fell apart from the late 80s onwards.

You see, I've evolved past the stage where I care about what Nigerians think of me because a sizeable proportion of Nigerians have what you can call "stinking thinking" that is driven by the worship of money and the best advice I listen to nowadays is the advice I give myself in the dead of the night or first thing when I wake up.

The biggest deliverance we need as Nigerians is not deliverance from evil spirits but deliverance from other peoples opinions and I've refused to rush into settling down again until I meet the right person and when I meet that person, I will know after a few dates and a big mistake we make when we are single is to rush into a relationship out of a desperate need to no longer be single but what I've realized now is that being single can actually be a blessing in disguise as you tend to achieve more work wise and are free from the emotional roller coaster that most of today's relationships turn out to be and God help you if you out of desperation rush into a relationship with someone who is a pathological liar or a deceptive person or a disguised player.
