When you study Igbo history, you'll understand that the tribes Igbo have affinity with are Annang, Ibibio and Efik despite having had contact with other tribes such as the Idoma and Tiv up north, the Ijaw in the South and the Bini I the west. Relationship with the Bini and Ijaw and Tiv was never as close with the Annang, Ibibio and Efiks. In fact, when you hear some uninformed Igbos such as Wike claim that they're of Bini ancestry, it was actually the expanding Bini kingdom that drove smaller Igbo hamlets away from across the Niger. These Igbo migrated or rather escaped from the rampaging Bini army across the Niger to be with their Igbo kith and kins. That's why those with no sense of history are claiming they're Bini. If an Ikwerre man is Bini, why doesn't he have Bini culture or even cultural ties? We know culture doesn't disappear or even morph in less than 100 years. Your names and language should have had Bini undertones at least as proof that you have such roots but they don't. You bear Chinyere and Obiageli, yet your parents are telling you that Ikwerre na asu Igbo.
