In a period of low interest rates, the guaranteed income return will also reduce.

That is why it is good to be diversified, move your investment from one fund to the other and have a basic understanding of the economy

This is true but your principal is guaranteed. When you buy units, your principal is not guaranteed at all.

You said the truth.

A business man I know very well with shops in several main markets died January this year. The money in all his bank accounts amounts to about 500M but dude lived far, far below his means. Drives a Toyota camery 2009 model. Doesn't even wear good clothes and shoes though business was booming and he keeps opening branches here and there.

His wife is currently spending the money like there is no tomorrow. She's now driving a recent range rover. Makes me wonder why we deprive ourselves of certain enjoyment in the name of growing the money only to die and leave everything behind for someone else.

For me, growing the money is just as important as enjoying my life. So, I try to balance both.

Fixed Income Funds have some percentage of their funds that can be converted to cash or money market funds, during the time of low interest rates that some bonds appreciated by over 50%, some fund managers converted some of their funds to money market Investment.

That is why it is good to use average returns of a fund over a period of time, interest rates won't be low or high forever.

Let’s think about it. You have a bond fund holding bonds and interest rates start rising. Even if you decide to convert the bonds to cash, wouldn’t you be selling at a discount? The value of those bonds will drop (whether realized in cash or unrealized) and this will bring down the price of the units.

Using average historical returns to project your future earnings from a fixed income fund that issues units is like predicting your share price in a company using average historical returns. It just doesn’t work.

If one dies without a valid will, in most cases, most of the money goes to the spouse if he/she was still legally married to the deceased before his/her death.

With a trust, you transfer your assets to a trustee who holds the assets on behalf of your stated beneficiaries. For example, you can have a trust holding your assets for your kids. So that when you die, they do not have to go through the courts to claim your assets and disgruntled family members cannot touch those assets.

It is not cheap to use trustees sha. As in, na person wey don chop belleful dey use trust grin

That is why some years you have returns of 28% and in bad years you have returns of 5%, the funds get coupons every month and almost every week, at the end of the day those who do it practice Naira cost averaging, they get more units at low prices, get few units at high prices but at the end of the day they will alright.

Since you are highly risk aversed, you can do money market funds or guaranteed income funds.

I have the returns for 3 fixed income funds, 1 money market fund and 1 guaranteed income fund. Looking at a time frame of 8 years the fixed income funds returns beat the guaranteed income and money market fund returns

My parasite is not your parasite, in management 1+1=3 due to synergy.

In a parasitic association

1+1= half or zero.

I doubt anyone would fall for a scenario like this. When a father officially handover daughter to you, hard to fall for that. Its different when you are sneaking to do it and it gradually becomes official than to just accept the packaged delivery.

On a lighter note, na so the small gal for stop to de call you uncle Ema to now de call you Emaboy or baby? Lol.

Without a will, they will need letter of administration, the wife, children and extended families will be administrators of the estate.

If the accounts, business and Investments are jointly owned, it will automatically go to the surviving spouse.

With 200k you can get a Trust account, it depends on the value of the assets that will be transferred to the Trust.

Anybody with an asset of N10 million and above can afford to set up a Trust.

With a Trust account his business, money and Investment with be Transferred to a corporate Trustee firm.

We have FBN Quest Trustees, UTL Trustee, United Capital Trustees, Custodian Trustee and others, they are all regulated by SEC.

The Trustee will manage his assets, business, Investments, pay the children's school fees, upkeep allowance for the family, provide funds for the continuity of the business.

It depends on the terms of the Trust, you can decide that 25% of the value of your assets should be destributed to your children after they have graduated and the youngest child is 30 years, another 25% distribution at 35 years and final distribution of 50% at 40 years.

FBN Quest Trustees are the managers of Gani Fawehinmi assets and Investments, all the children receive an annual allowance from the Trust account.

We have some children of affluent families who have good jobs and businesses and still receiving tens of millions of Naira from the Trust set up by their late parents who died many years ago.

Without a good estate plan, the family of man who died with about N500 million in his account might get broke in less than 10 years time, it has happened before and it will happen again because history repeats itself

There are costs involved in setting up trusts. Believe me it makes no sense to set up trust accounts if you don’t have substantial assets.

In the absence of a will, there is a hierarchy of people that are entitled to be administrator of the estate and the legally married spouse sits atop this hierarchy.

In most cases, the legally married spouse has access to the death certificate and files for the letter of Administration along with one of her adult kids (or any adult relative she chooses if her kids are not adults).

This is why legally married spouses in most cases are the ones controlling the estate of people that died without a will.

Death tax is 10% of the asset, professional fees can also cost another 10%.

Meristem Probate services and GTL Probate services are cashing out big time rendering this services to bereaved families

Please guy, be careful of these women

Never lose guard. I repeat, Never lose your guard.

If you have a woman you are just meeting, get to know a little more about her before having sex with her. Sex itself is risky.
Also, only deal with women that you know have something to lose. Never deal with a desperate woman. It's because of this reason my married friend chose his pastor's daughter as his side-chic because he knew she won't mess up as she had something to lose.

Anytime you are about to make a transfer, do not do it in the presence of anyone. Criminals are so smart that from watching your finger pattern, they can guess your 4-digit pin. Be careful.

Don't keep your sidechic totally secret, let your trusted guy know about her. Let her know she is known.

Never take a drink or food from a woman you barely know. If you notice you are feeling dizzy or sleepy after taking a drink, act immediately. Get out of there or call a friend to let you know there is trouble.

Do you have a job or a business?

If you don't have a job, think of a business you can use the money for or pay for a course that can increase your earning ability.

500k is small for a passive income, you need to create active income through a job, trading or business.

The fund can't give you more than a steady monthly return of 5k

Reason why I asked if he had a job. Since he is not looking for passive income according to you, the best bet is to do business with the money.

I hope you understand the meaning of passive income by the way.

Kindly share some of the secured Investments that can give good returns with us.

A lot of jobless people, get money from families and friends running into hundreds of thousands of Naira and are looking for a monthly return of 50k to 100k.

He is concerned about the security of his money, he should be made to also understand the expected return from the so called secured Investments..

That is why I always advise young people with limited capital to think of how they create active income with their capital and invest the returns in order to create long term passive income
