Oduduwa Race And Family; The Olukumi Clan of Yoruba in Delta State.

The Olukumis are a branch of the Anioma ethnic group. Anioma people exists as part of Edo and Delta state.
The Anioma people are a unique group of people with 12 different languages which can be traced to: Igbo, Edo and
Yoruba.
The Olukumis are an ancient fragment of the Yoruba people, located in Aniocha North local government of Delta in Nigeria who migrated from Owo/Akure in the current day Ondo State of Nigeria.
They occupy eight communities in the west of the river Niger, and are referred to as the Odiani Clan in Aniomaland. Olukunmi towns and communities include; Ukwu Nzu ( Eko Efun), Ugbodu, Ubulubu, Idumu ogo, among others.

History considers the Odianis as the Yoruba clans in the Anioma cultural area. While, Ugbodu town is by virtue of history the headquarters of the Olukumi people. The Ugbodu town is headed by a traditional ruler named as the Obi of Ugbodu. The current Obi is H.R.M. Oloza Ayo Isinyemeze.

The Olukumi villages select leaders through the use of Okpala Obi system, which is considered as a borrowed culture from their neighbors. The system is a fusion of the Obi (Kingship) rulership system from the Benin kingdom, as well as the Okpala (Gerontocracy) system gotten from the Igbos.
The Odianis today are known as Anioma people in Delta State together with the Ezechime who migrated from Edo land and Idumuje clan who migrated from Esan land.
The Anioma people are those from Aniocha (Enuani and Olukumi), Ndokwa (Ukwuani), Ika, and Oshimili areas of Delta State.

Interesting read. Recently, I learned of the Ebu tribe in Oshimili North of Delta State whose language consist of roughly 50% Igala dictions. Strange settings in Nigeria.

Nairaland has revealed many Nigerian are ignorant and arrogant at the same time. They neither travel nor seek knowledge.

Does it makes us Igbo because we found ourselves encircled by Igbo speaking communities?
We are Olukunmi but igbos called us Odiani. We cherished our Olukunmi language and Yoruba ancestry.

I have a friend from that part of Delta state; the dialect sounds like Ilaje. Being from Delta state, I took him as an Itsherkiri but said he is Olukunmi. I was surprised because the only Yoruba subgroup I thought existed in Delta state was Itsherkiri.

Olukumis are Yorubas and we will integrate them into Biafra seamlessly and allow them a level playing ground.

They are not Yorubas.
They are indigenous Igbos who Akure warriors who Oba Bini sent to conquer them settled among them and became their kings, disobeying and cutting off the Oba Bini in the process.
The Owo(Yoruba soldiers) brought Yoruba culture and flavor to the people, which was subsequently diluted by the Indigenous Igbo flavor of the aboriginals.

A BRIEF UNTOLD HISTORY ABOUT THE IGBO INCEPTION OF UGBODU KINGDOM .
November 26, 2018
There has always been igbos in ugbodu before the arrival of the warriors from Akure, sent by the then Oba of Benin wen he was in pursuit of the fleeing igbos from the Benin kingdom. Those warriors getting to ugbodu,settled....and called the igbos there "olukumi" meaning my friends. So ugbodu was an igbo town by inception hence the use of igbo language along side the yoruboid language(olukumi). You cant separate ugbodu from her igboness.

what I am saying is dat ndi igbo is part of the foundation of Ugbodu Kingdom and Anioma in general so when we are speaking of fore father's and birth right, that should be in mind too coz actually, the warriors were the ones who "came in" and settled ,meeting pre existing igbos . So one can decide to identify as onye igbo from Ugbodu in Anioma delta state and also those who feel they are Yorubas or olukumi can also identify as one.

I believe they're more igala than Yoruba because they share no boundaries with the Yorubas but they share boundaries with Igala.
Their language is much similar to the igala than Yoruba.
I have been to ugbodu, I think they should join Igala than claiming Yoruba.

Lol. Afonja wants to claim Igboland.
Since when did Chima started rolling in the company of Tunde?
Lol.
Afonja claim their people are known as Odiani meaning in Igbo (sons of the soil) and yet claim that the "sons of the soil" migrated from Owo.
Then after which they lost all their culture, language and traditions due to the great Genjutsu from the Igbo Ninjas grin

We will adopt the olukunmis in the Oduduwa Republic. How did they even find themselves there, anyways it doesn't matter because we are not leaving a single yoruba nor subgroup to nigeria, biafra or Niger delta, we are taking everyone with us.

Lol... He even called them a 'branch' of anioma. Olukumis were a small number of Yoruba migrants into Delta Igbo heartland with a now extinct culture. They've since assimilated to Igbo identity the way op would done if given the chance.

I don't know the stupid blog where you got your gutter narratives.
Akure warriors called Igbos Olukumi? cheesy.. This blog writer must be a mad man.
Why would Yoruba call Igbo Olukumi?. Was that the first time Yoruba people encountered igbos in history?.
There was never a time where a Yoruba group called Igbos Olukumi. Yoruboid in Delta are called Olukumi.
There was no where in our history where Oba of Benin sent Akure warriors to go after igbos fleeing Benin. Stop following stupid blogs for the sake of your sanity.
