How did we get here?
Nigeria truly went backwards by letting illiterate from that region to rule over us in the southern part of Nigeria.
How did you let them

You have 17 states
They have 19

This is a democracy not a literocracy

Also is your governor from the north
Your minister nko
What is your senators
Reps
LG chairman
Councillors

Are they northerners?

Freedom of speech seems to also mean freedom of sense

Oyedepo is not irrational young man. He is right.

In as much as social media has many advantages, it also has many dark, evil and bad sides.

The people who make positive use of social media are few. All other people use social media platforms to pollute the psychic and mental atmosphere of the nation with their negative and destructive thought-forms.

In a country like Nigeria where over 70% of people are addicted to negativity and negative news and are generally unpatriotic and irresponsible, if government can regulate social media it wouldn't be a bad idea. The people using it constructively for self development and career advancement has nothing to fear

I'm disappointed, this is an example of irrational thinking. He can as well encourage FG to ban mobile phone and laptops entirely since yahoo boys use it for fraud.

Ban kitchen knives because women are now using it to kill their husbands and boyfriends.

The benefits of social media can never be overlooked, if not for YouTube I wouldn't have learnt coding, graphics design or game development.

If not for Nairaland, I wouldn't have known freelancing works and how to go about getting clients abroad who pay well.

If not for Facebook, I wouldn't know the best and trending products to dropship.

If not for Twitter, SARS will still be out there killing youths for owning an iPhone.

Whats my own, can they really sensor social media? I don't think it's ever going to happen. Nigerians are very smart people with dump leaders so they will end up playing catchup.

The truth!
1. He never asked federal government to ban social media or internet. He only encouraged youths to be more productive with their time and avoid social media addiction.
2. Millions of Nigeria youth are already too addicted to social media - not even the productive aspect of SM. We can watch comedy skits for 6hours non-stop. Ten years ago, it used to be certifications and reading of books but now, comedy skits and porn are gradually stealing our time and of course, life is measured in time.
3. Bloggers coined his sound/beautiful advice into something that'd fetch them traffic to their website and it's working fine.

How was their life better when you thought for them prior to the emergence of Twitter?!

Isn't it the 'youths' you thought for in the 70s, 80s & 90s the ones destroying Nigeria today?!

Oyedepo has a different purpose with what I have read here, which is not the same thing as Buhari's wicked political agenda. Care for young people who waste time doing what does not add up real, ensuring and morally acceptable values is different from shutting up voices against Buhari's tyrannical government.

ALSO REGULATE THE WAY THESE MEN OF GOD EXPLOIT CHRISTIANS WITH ONE SEED SOWING OR MIRACLE OR THITE. FG SHOULD ALSO REGULATE CHRISTIAN MINISTRY ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS THEY DONT ALLOW US TO THINK AND BE INNOVATIVE INSTEAD WE SPEND OUR TIME PRAYING AND FASTING FOR CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA RATHER THAN LOOKING FOR INNOVATIVE APPROCHES IN DEALING WITH OUR NATIONAL PROBLEMS THE TRUTH IS THE CHURCH IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR MOST CHRISTIANS NOT THINKING AS WE THINK ALL OUR PROBLEMS ARE SPIRITUALLY INCLINED

I won't be surprised if most G.O's share this ridiculous idea. Why else will they build universities with the intent of shutting students out from the social media world by banning phones?

What you outlined are profitable use of social media which doesn't need regulation, that is called E-learning. Doing legitimate business doesn't need any form of policing.

But when you spend the whole day reading, posting, liking, commenting achieving zero progress, will you say regulations is not needed there.

During Oyedepo's secondary school days, students sit for their own SSCE, how many students can do that this days? Including you, did you pass your waec or neco hands-on?
