So myself and one other DIY person from Nairaland captured today, passport to be ready for pick up in August as stated on the slip(we hope so) . If you have time to spare and not in a hurry pls process the application yourself cos all these people you are paying 40k and above ain't doing anything special other than to open file and drop. Several people were lamenting today after paying more than the usual fee and still didn't get any special treatment from their agent.

Are you sure? I’ve been checking it for over 2 weeks now, it’s not in the drop down for option to select passport office. Please you can Dm me the exact route that the person took or the link to the exact portal.

I was on this forum weeks ago asking about how to go about the change of name (as a man) and no concrete response was given (I understand that people may not have the answer to all questions). But I took a step of faith. Please read on
I booked a flight to Abuja and I got to the NIS HQ with knowing no one. I sat at the Data processing center studying the events while suddenly, I approach an officer ,he listened to me and directed to another officer and that one directed to another .
I was patient and finally met another officer who God used to help me.
Long story short .
My application for change of name was approved that same day
I captured that same day
I was given a slip that shows when my passport will be ready .
God showed me Mercy ( I can't explain)
The officer was carrying my file about as if I paid a huge money.
Please friends ask questions and do fact findings but above all don't place a man in the place of God.(I captured before the so called 'long leg' did there's)
I am not a pastor not a religious person.
But this one I know that God showed me Mercy in NIS HQ Abuja
Summary
Change of name plus charges .....30,900
My passport fee plus charges.........25,500
This excluded my return ticket flight (same day flight) and I gave that sweet officer a thank you token.
That's all I paid . My people , I landed MM2 10:38pm thereabout that same day I left .
Please try and help people always not for your gain. God be with u all.

Same thing they are collecting 150k from ppl and yet they have not even seen name change approval talk less of new passport. It is really sad what people are passing through with these NIS thieves. Congrats!

If it is a fresh passport you don't need to have your husband's name on your NIN. Your marriage certificate is all they require except you are renewing your passport.

Have been seeing everyone comments saying you will have to receive a text before capturing but my case was quite different.

I went to ikoyi office to vet my document last two weeks after making payment online (It strictly DIY) after vetting and getting each authentication, I went to the enrollment hall myself and gave my documents to the direct officer in charge of enrollment, Although he asked me from where I just told him one officer sent me to him and he collected my document and filled it in the portal and he asked me to sit down and wait for capturing and after the capturing i was given a slip to come for my passport first week of august.

Hope am safe, because this one everyone are saying you have to wait to receive a text to come for capturing

I did my vetting, authentication and capturing the same day after making payment online.

Strictly DIY, No tipping or bribing any officer

Yes they do, As of now, change of name (Man only that i know of) is done at the NIS HQ Abuja but please call servicom to clarify your doubt sha (No on their website).

1. I really don't know which of the names to use?

1) You have to do your NIN because it’s now part of requirement to get your Nigerian passport. Some people said NIS Centres in Ibadan and Abeokuta doesn’t require NIN, I don’t know much about that but I’m sure Lagos and Abuja requires your NIN.
2) NIN is required for all Nigerians and legal residents in Nigeria. You should try and register your baby for the NIN. You’ll need your NIN slip or your wife’s NIN slip, the birth certificate and you’re good to go.
3) Change of name due to marriage and change of data can only be done in NIS HQ in Abuja. For your wife to do that, she’ll need to change her surname on her NIN to yours, the marriage certificate, change of name affidavit, newspaper publication and a photocopy of your Nigerian passport.

So guys, I haven't been online today but my attention was drawn to the person that posted yesterday that he got his passport done with change of name yesterday. I couldn't hide my tears, picked up my phone and called her. Asked about my passport and she ended the call, called back again asking about it, she raised her voice that it wasn't her fault that it's my nin that delayed since March. So I stood up to her that she's the same person that assured me of knowing someone but couldn't finish the statement before my airtime finished. As I was trying to borrow she called and said I'll have to wait blabla and I said no that someone even got hers yesterday and did change of name. Why's my own now different that I want my passport. She ended the call and keeps rejecting my calls. So I went to send her a voicenote, I poured out my heart angrily while watching my words too because she might use the unnecessary against me. She has listened to it and didn't respond, I don't know whatever steps she might've been taking now but I'm really scared. All I want is the product of service I paid for, 30k debt is still on me and chocking me badly, no source of income, the only means I'm hoping on I got an incompetent hand depressed is understatement

so why can you not report this individual? The phone number of nis and email has been dropped here several times.. how can your fellow human being be treatin u this way ontop your money.. o wrong nau!
