There is different between communism and capitalism.. akwaibom state is practising communism while lagos is capitalism... There are alot of investors in lagos while akwaibom are only building to attract investors...

Very profutable? Do you have any data to back this up for example Yield, ROI etc Is it more profitable that a brewery?

There is Champions Brewery at Uyo and the State Government (I stand corrected) is an investor in the Brewery, so Brewery is a great investment, so is Airline.

Regarding the stats, yes, I am aware of your implied quest, but this is a new and growing airline that has constantly outdone the predicted milestones.

I have a few bottles of Champion Beer right here with me, and is my preferred beer due to low content of purine as is evident in most beers produced under the Heineken brand.

Thank you.

You have not answered his question.

Lagos State is incapable of running a state-owned Airline. Lagos is not the best when it comes to internal think-tank when compared to Akwa Ibom. I have assets in both States, so I am a very unbiased Lagosian.

Uyo, and Abuja are the only places you can live in Nigeria without missing Lagos. It is a fact. So, do not jettison common knowledge for bias.

Take a trip to Akwa Ibom and you'd understand why.
You have a very bad marketing skill... people will prefer to visit calabar, porthacourt, jos than visiting akwaibon....
Have you ever seen rolls Royce marketing it product on line? Have you ever seen abuja , lagos , portharcourt and calabar advert on nairaland like the way you guys are advertising akwaibom? Cool, because these states alreasy made a name for themselves.... keep trying with your marketing skill.

I can see your remarks are powered by Champion

I am not advocating Brewery or any other specific business. That was just an example

YOU said Airline business is very profitable

And so that has to be based on something
If I have xx million to invest should I put in in airline? Instead of Brewery .

Without figures saying airline business is very profitable is just Beer Parlor
Champion talk
By the way the thread is about Lagos State. So I am not sure what Champion brewery has got to do with anything?

This thread is about Lagos State in comparison to Akwa Ibom with reference to Airline. I have not taken Champion today but I intend to enjoy it later in the day. I mentioned Champion Beer because you cited Brewery as a better investment and I stated that Ibom Kingdom has investment in BOTH. So why is your emotion betrayed? I thought you are mature enough for a conversation with Billyonaire?

If you have money, I will say invest in both. But since you do not have money, all we can do is state the obvious, that Lagos State has failed to accelerate investment in core areas but Sanwo-Olu is finally doing that.

I applaud his investment in Marine Transport, that is laudable. But the lack of competent think-tank is the reason Lagos never ventured into Airline despite being a commercial nerve-center with highest local and international flight.

That is a lack of intelligent think-tank of the highest level which Akwa Ibom has.

I love both States and have investment in both, so I am unbiased.

Thanks for your erroneous assertions, I did not expect you to know better. Why would anyone prefer Calabar and Jos to Akwa Ibom? Akwa Ibom has more resources, better infrastructures and is better ran those states.

As for Rivers State, the state is blessed like Akwa Ibom but we are yet to see a very lettered personality running the state. Stop meandering and if you are now empty on your points then no need for vituperation.

By the way, I will ignore the torpsy-turvy as always, there is no tear on my armor plate, yours is just a storm in a tea cup.

Why are you worried about Lagos?

There are more than a 100 investments that Lagos has but Akwa-Ibom doesn't have and might never have. You should be worried about that instead.

Lagos state has an international airport which the state's commission in the revenue generated is enough to launch its own airline.
Kindly mention project in Lagos that Akwa Ibom can not have or will not dream to have ?
We are all waiting ?

With its huge resources, why can't Lagos State have a functional airline like Akwa-Ibom airline, Ibom Air?
Despite all the noise and fanfare, Akwa Ibom State will NEVER be able to run a profitable airline. The airline industry is the most complex , capital intensive industry there. Governments running airlines is a thing of he distant past. No same government in the world would burden itself with running an airline. We have very short memories in Nigeria and beholden to Shiny objects.
The government of Akwa Ibom is very far from delivering on its mandate of delivering social services for the welfare of its people. Nigerian local, state and federal government are very poor on delivering the basic needs of the population, and development of human capital, let alone running a complex and capital intensive business. It is a lack of imagination that would lead a government of a poor state( by every standard of life index ) to embark on grandiose schemes and businesses just to appear to be doing something.

If AirFrance, KLM, Swiss Air, Alitalia, Sabena, all national carriers of rich and advanced countries, are struggling and some bankrupt and liquidated, it is unrealistic to expect Ibom Air, owned and operated by a state that solely depends on monthly hangouts from the federal purse, to be profitable and survive beyond 5yrs.

Akwa Ibom Air is a colossal waste of state resources, and I can predict, with mathematical precision, that it would collapse in maximum 5 yrs, and saddle the state with billions and billions of domestic and foreign debt.

I know the industry more than you do, I had interest in dry and wet leases so I did my researches. The expense in the industry is about repairs and maintenance, so Akwa Ibom did something marvelous by building a Maintenance and Repairs industry around its Airline.

Your knowledge of the sector with reference to Ibom Air is very limited, hence your ignorance of it.

It's not a must. Lagos state is miles ahead of Akwaibom. They can, probably they should, but do they need it? They need rail and metro rail service more than airlines.
How many of those are owned by the state government?

The Econet investment wasnt just Lagos and Akwa Ibom but Delta State too, so Yes, we are on the same page on that.

The Akwa Ibom Think-Tank understands the Industry and knows that Maintenance and Repairs is the major cause of losses, hence Insurance, Maintenance and Repairs are a key component of the planning.

I personally drove to the Airport to see what progress is being made at those areas because I wanted to acquire some assets at their Airport road at Uruan - Okobo axis where the Airport is built. I wanted to be sure of the seriousness and dedication before I made that investment. I was impressed after reviewing the whitepaper and seeing progress of work at the facilities.

I know in a few years, these planes will fly on autopilot and that is a plus for the Airline as AI flies better than humans and without pilots overhead cost is reduced, which means more profit.

The Airline industry will remain the best transport means till the end of time, it does not matter if it is flown by humans or robots, especially in Nigeria where there is no National Carrier.

Akwa Ibom will continue to invest in infrastructures where Private investors are absent or too scared to put their resources, because the State has a blueprint to awaken its people from the era of houseboys and housegirls to a Kingdom - Ibom Kingdom, for them it is about Ideology not about just naira and kobo.

I will advise that you buy a piece of Akwa Ibom - it is a nice place.

As for Lagos, where I spend a greater of my adult life, I love the State, but there is need for us to get things right in Lagos and not develop infrastructures based on vested interests. - Vested Interest is why we are developing Elekan-Epe road and vested interested is why we are building Eko Atlantic. etc

The rest of Lagos rots.
Great piece again

Can he compare Akwa Ibom stadium to that if Lagos or even road network or greenery.

Lol, my only pain is that they won't even make the relics good enough for a museum maybe that can even generate revenue for the state.
The airline will mostly live off subsidy/allocation from state govt(irrespective of the term they choose to use), I wonder how they intend to break even with such strategy. Let's wait and see what the next state governor plans for the airline.

Even if the investment fails, it has created employment for many. The employees have acquired skills and experience in the aviation sector that will help them move on in life. The nightmare of travellers on that route has been minimised. Created business opportunities for the contractors. It is better than doling out N20,000 -N40,000 to people for doing nothing.
