The Lagos house of assembly has passed an amendment bill of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Law 2015 of the state, which seeks to prevent the police from parading suspects before journalists. https://www.thecable.ng/lagos-assembly-passes-bill-preventing-parade-of-suspects-by-police 36 Likes 2 Shares

Nice one, I've always wondered about why they do that if they claim a suspect is innocent until proven otherwise in court then they shouldn't be paraded for that crime till then. It's so archaic. Next is to stop those stupid mugshot posting that EFCC does to small Yahoo boys but no politician that causes more damage, either they do it to everyone or to no one. 114 Likes 4 Shares |

Kudos to Lagos State Nigeria for always setting the pace and showing what Governance is about Why will NPF , EFCC and other agencies raid a location, make unlawful arrest, torture people and still put their names and faces accross all media even when full investigation hasn't been conducted God bless Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Jagaban of Borgu God bless Babajide Sanwo-Olu God bless Lagos State house of assembly . 58 Likes 7 Shares

Imagine what the Southern Govt could do if they actually had their own country. The South has always been more Civilized than the North. But the parasitic Descendants of Osama Dan Fordio will never allow us to move forward. 162 Likes 4 Shares |

Really? It's a good step in the right direction if passed and implemented. A situation where our policemen turn to law themselves, they are the arrester, the prosecutors and the executioners will not augur well for the rule of law in the country. They are always eager to condemn suspects by giving them media trial, in the name of trying to show they're working. Imagine our policemen displaying charms in the 21st century as part of their successes as law enforcers where in the world is such done. Surely they need reorientationand and retraining 10 Likes 1 Share |

Nairalanders, all those guys here on Nairaland who keep using words like IPOB, AFONJA are neither Yoruba or Igbo, they are part of the BMC media crew keen on dividing the south. On Twitter, Yabaleft and IG, Yorubas and Igbos speak one voice. Southern Nigeria is SANER AND PROGRESSIVE together 48 Likes 2 Shares |

PANIC BILL knowing fully well that EFCC has resumed the case of the bullon van mogul, his rubber stamp house of assembly has rushed to ban public parading of suspects. When Nigeria lawmakers suddenly know the right thing to do, just know that something is fishy. The master is coming for the slave. Even if they don't parade the suspect, the public must see the mugshots of the suspect, that is how it's is done internationally. Not releasing mugshots to the public will not make us know potential criminals among us and that can put our lives at risk. Also the police can free suspects secretly through this Bill, Nigeria police is too corrupt for such bill. The bill must be checked. 4 Likes

We are all aware of the problems this country faces and we know how to fix them, but the greed in us is just too greedy 1. The amendment further stipulates conditions under which a police officer can arrest without warrant, one of which is that a person must be reasonably suspected to unlawfully be in possession of firearms or other such dangerous instruments. 2. According to a statement by Eromosele Ebhomele, chief press secretary to the speaker, the subsection of the bill also bars the police or any other agency from arresting a person “in lieu of any other person in a criminal matter”. 2 Likes |

I hope this is true. Nigeria police will arrest, parade, smear your name and integrity, only to investigate later that you're innocent. Them without apology or compensation or explanation you're sent back to society to salvage your image. Of course, after milking you dry. This country en... 19 Likes |

Nice one for the people of Lagos state. It is morally wrong to parade a SUSPECTED criminal. What if he is proven innocent, so people might still view him as guilty. 3 Likes 1 Share |
