The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, dismissed the People’s Democratic Party, PDP,’s suit challenging the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru’s victory at the Lagos East Senatorial by-election.

PDP is asking the court to disqualify Abiru from continuing to represent Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The Supreme Court upheld the argument of Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, for Abiru and Abiodun Owonikoko, SAN, for APC on the basis that the appeal lacked merit.

Justice Adamu Jauro of the Apex court, who wrote the lead judgement, also awarded cost of N1 million against the appellants– the PDP and its candidate Babatunde Gbadamosi–and in favour of each of the respondents, Abiru and the APC.

Recall that Abiru won the last December 5 senatorial bye-election by a landslide, polling 89,204 votes against Gbadamosi’s 11,257 votes.

APC hails verdict

Spokesman of APC, Lagos, Seye Oladejo, while reacting to the judgment, Saud: “We are elated by the ruling of the highest court in the land. It has further enhanced the democratic credentials of our party and our commitment to always present credible candidates for elections within the dictates of the laws of the land.

“We want to congratulate Sen. Tokunbo Abiru on his reaffirmed victory and wish him a successful tenure now that the needless distraction of litigation has been disposed of.”

I am currently in Benin Republic.
A friend of mine called me to join him here in Benin Republic, and when I got here, within a month he left me and travelled to another country. He left behind foodstuffs and also rent he paid which will expire in a couple of weeks . My problem here is that he promised to fix me up and he never did anything before he left. Currently I have almost exhausted the foodstuffs he left behind and I don’t have transportation to come back to Nigeria.
All I need now is transportation fare and if possible, someone who can help me with work in Nigeria.
Please good people of Nigeria help me as I am depressed and dying slowly.

I have said it for the umpteenth time. African Politicians can never solve the problems of africa. Infact they are the problems of Africa. See Zuma. And to be frank, Zuma performed far better than any Nigerian President except the likes of Murtala and Yaradua who had very pure intentions but life failed them.
