I doubt if there is a genuine desire by the politicians especially the lawmakers under this regime to salvage their already battered image. Screening Lauretta amidst the widespread opposition to her nomination is a proof of the huge disconnect between them and the people. The storm raised by the purported clause in the Electoral Act forbidding electronic transmission of election results is yet to settle. The presence of Lauretta Onochie as INEC commissioner will deprive the electoral umpire of any credibility and neutrality. The road to free and fair elections in Nigeria seems endless.
