For getting job from Naija, I suggest few months before you travel, start reaching out to recruiters via LinkedIn and who reside in the city you intend to live in.

Have your CV in Canadian format ready with a Canadian phone number. Use Dingtone/Freetone to purchase a Canadian no.

When the recruiter connects and has an initial phone/interview chat, stress that you can commence interviewing remotely. You will be asked when you will be in Canada. If the recruiter wants to work with you, he will keep messaging you from time to time, sending jobs

mastravel:
ACCA to CPA; this MRA has expired.
Possible they renew in future lipsrsealed

It is important to note that this MRA was scheduled to expire in July 2016, however, the deadline was extended. All individuals who submit a complete application and fulfill the eligibility criteria before April 30, 2021, 7:00pm EST will be considered for admission under the MRA.

I don't know if you can get a job from Nigeria

A few of the hotels won't take money from the credit card until you show up. The cheapest hotel is Quality Suites but it's often fully booked except your travel date is way ahead.

What you should look for is the one that will refund you at least a night. Your best bet is Towneplace Suites as they often refund one night.

Before you travel, pre-register for Switch Health, if not you go queue eh to do your covid entry test. Just Google Switch Health and create a profile on their website. I think it requires a Canadian phone number.

At the Lagos airport, just staple your data page covid test, ArriveCan and Hotel booking together so that those checking documents won't stress you

A question to those in the legal career or anyone who might have more information.

What are the legal job prospects in Manitoba and Saskatchewan? Which Province is more favourable in terms of employment and licencing? Having these cities in mind; Winnipeg vs Saskatoon and/or Regina.

Pls I would like to inquire on the following; 1. Is it true that applicants must notify their undergraduate university to send their transcript on behalf of the applicant through WES (World Education Services) in order to apply for Masters in any Canada universities? If this is true, and although he already decided to inform his undergraduate university to send his academic transcript to the WES organization as well, how can he be able to contact an academic professor in a desired university for the aim of getting admission to embark on a Masters program ? 2. Pls which provinces or regions in Canada provides the best opportunities for Masters applicants seeking to study Environmental Engineering and at the same time be working ? 3. Which universities are the best option for my brother to apply for Masters in Engineering? 4. Pls which Canadian universities offer less expensive tuition fee or scholarships for Masters program in Environmental engineering? 5. What are the requirements or conditions that must be met to apply for both masters program and the student visa? 6. Pls is there any offer for post-study Work Permit in Canada? 7. My brother has a recommendation letter from his undergraduate university's academic affairs (not his own department). Is a recommendation letter(s) from undergraduate university a compulsory requirement? Must the recommendation letter be specifically from his department professor/lecturers or just academic affairs Head/Director ? Pls at what stage or point will this letter of recommendation be demanded for (if it is compulsory) - Is it required for applying for Masters admission or will it be demanded after admission is obtained? 8. Is it compulsory for my brother's SPONSOR (e.g Uncle/ Aunt) to be a Nigerian citizen with a Nigerian bank account? Also, is there any specific eligibility for sponsors (sponsorship letter) especially if the sponsor of the Graduate program works or lives abroad (eg. USA) 9. Pls what are the next step that my brother is expected to take once he gets admission to a Canada university? What level or extent of Proof of Funds or bank statement for instance will be required from his sponsor? 10. My brother is looking forward to obtaining a Permanent Residency permit in the future (even if it means proceeding to read a PhD in Engineering field), what further steps or process does he need to know to partake in ? 11. What is the total cost for applying for a study visa ? 12. Pls if you have any advise to say concerning his desire in seeking to study Masters in Canada, I am ready to understand and learn.

Hi Guys,

Just landed a few days ago and I realized that I forgot my laptop and hardrive in Nigeria. Pls can you recommend various options of sending the laptop to me from Nigeria to Ontario.

Landing gists grin

We arrived at the airport at 9.05am, our flight was scheduled for 1.40pm.
We went to the ET check in stand, weighed our luggages. We had excess luggage and the ET staff was very helpful. He advised us to upgrade 2 of our luggages from 23kg to 32kg and we made pymt of 53,000 for the upgrade.

They requested for print out copies and photocopy of covid-19 test results, CoPR, passport data page, evidence of full vaccination and arrivecan app code.

After this we proceeded to get our boarding pass, na there wahala start... The Nahcol staff issuing the boarding pass said there was an issue with my wife's or baby's visa. He said it was not activated, ghen ghen..... He asked us series of questions and we answered. He said the only solution is to call IRCC and that we have to use our credit to make d call. Na xo we load 4k airtime. He spoke with an IRCC agent, this process took us over 50mins. Time was already 12:45pm. The IRCC agent checked and said there was nothing wrong with the visa and she gave them a code to use to override the error. It took the Nahcol staff another 20mins battling with the system. At this point we became apprehensive, time was already past 1 and we didn't have a boarding pass, boarding had started like 30mins earlier. We had to involve the head of ET who then gave the Nahcol staff instructions on what to do. Eventually they printed a boarding pass for my wife to take her to Ethiopia and that they will send a mail to Ethiopia to prepare her boarding pass from Ethiopia to Toronto.

At 1.20pm we started racing down to do immigration, customs etc. We were lucky to have a family frnd who works with faan.. he helped us breeze tru these, and we eventually boarded d plan at 1.40pm as the last passengers.

Gosh it was a terrible experience, imagine having to carry a one year baby, with three hand luggages and other stuffs and running all the way to the tarmac. We were sweeting like goats

The trip to Addis Ababa was smooth, we disembarked and went straight to join the connection flight to Canada. When we got to the boarding gate, we told them that we were to pick up up boarding pass for my wife, they took her passport and told us to chill, within 10mins her boarding pass was ready and we boarded the plane off to Canada.

Canada Events:

After we landed, we were ushered into a room where they separated fully vaccinated travels from non vaccinated. Vaccinated travellers get to show evidence of vaccination to the boarder agent and a green sticky paper is affixed on the passport.

We proceeded to another agent who requested for our CoPR, Passport and asked some basic questions ( address in Canada, phone no, how much we were coming with) he signed off the CoPR and said welcome to canada cheesy grin. We joined a queue for covid-19 test and within 10mins we were done.

We spent a total of 3hours from landing till we got out of the airport. Our hosts were already waiting for us.

Please which day did you take your last dose for the vaccine as I wanna be sure if someone can travel immediately after the second dose.

Thanks!

You can travel immediately you take the 2nd dose of the vaccine but you are only deemed to be fully vaccinated 14days after taking your 2nd dose vaccination. In essence, if you want to avoid mandatory hotel quarantine, you have to wait for 14days after taking your 2nd dose to enjoy that priviledge.

Nah wah for the CBSA officer oo. I think I had the exact issue when I came as a student. I was able to work with my study permit. The job was for a brief period though. If your potential employer has an issue with the clause on your study permit, you can contact IRCC.

So did you get your permit amended or you used it like that? The amendment process looks so long. But without SIN even to open bank acct and get credit card sef na war.

Hello house,

Please i need your help, I applied for a visiting visa for my mum and sent that email for the application priority, and also attached the proof of relationship which are my international passport, my mum birth certificate, her change of name docs, invitation letter and the doctor's letter for my pregnant wife.

I received this email from IRCC "Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted"

Please could it be because i didn't attach my PR card and my birth certificate. If yes, can any one suggest the docs they used for their proof of relationship. Thanks

Why did you include a doctor's letter for your pregnant wife? You basically told them your mom is coming to work on a visit visa.

And yes... your PR card and your birth certificate are the most important documents (PR card to prove your status in Canada and your birth certificate to prove the relationship between yourself and your mother)

Hello guys,

Does anyone know which of the Canadian government approved hotels allows people to make a reservation without putting my card details, and can pay in cash when I arrive ?

The reason why I am asking this question is because I am fully vaccinated. I got the second dose on June 18th. So I just want to have the hotel booking in case of incasity, as I may not need to stay in the hotel at all.

Why are you derailing this thread?
This thread is for life/living in Canada not for these unnecessary questions.
You can check the student visa thread for student related issues.
More importantly do your own research. A lot of your questions can be found by doing a simple search on Google.

Thanks. My mum is coming to help out as she is about to give birth and many people add all that to support their application. She is not getting paid for helping her son, so it is not a work visa. At least my female friend also submitted it when she applied for visit visa for her mum. Infact, she added the ultrasound scan too. Only difference is that she didn't send any email to prioritize her application because she applied for her mum before covid.

thanks all the same.

I do not think your mother qualifies as a member of immediate family relation as per their definition (spouse and dependent children), also pregnancy does not fall into the category of non-discretionary cases as per their definition.

Mother actually falls under immediate family member. I applied for my mom during Covid-19 and her visa was granted. She visited and she is back home now.

You don't know the context your female friend presented her case to the visa officer.

If she told the visa officer that the pregnancy is difficult and that she needs her mom's emotional support so that she doesn't fall into depression and you told the visa officer that your mother is coming to help take care of the baby.

These two statement mean different things for visa application. Now, it also depends on the officer that handles your application.

Anyways, the most important documents, which is your PR card and the proof of relationship for yourself and your mom, were not attached to your letter and thus, you did not prove that you meet the exemption requirements. You can reply and attach the relevant documents.

Hello house,

I need to verify an information i got online from someone i just met. According to him he’s a citizen of canada that reside in calgary. I went to his inbox and asked him what i should study between nursing and software eng, he told me to go for nursing but i was afraid if i could cope with the high fee with just a 20hours/week job. So i told him about that(fee) and he said i should forget about the supposed fee(12000$ For int student) i saw on me
Memorial university school site(which he sent to me), that i will just be paying 2000$ per semester approx 4000$ per session. I was worried about the information so i felt i should ask here for verification.

Please house help me, before i start at all i need to verify this information to be sure i will not be in any problem.
