I just paid #578.13 in total through remita to pay NIMC so as to download my NIN slip. When I first saw the 400 naira payment for print out enable ment, my heart was as if it was struck by a sword. I can't believe my government will do that to me. Anyway, na 578 I pay finally before them give me access to download.
God save Nigeria.

Let me tell you one that is still shocking me. Few months ago, I tried to pay for business name reservations with Corporate Affairs Commission, N600 using remita. Made payment, was debited with details clearly stated in the transaction details - so clearly the money got to the commission's account.

However, CAC portal didn't acknowledge my payment and the business name wasn't reserved. I managed to call them and the lady that answered asked me how much. I told her, she paused then said I should send a mail. I did but til today, nothing.
If that is not scam, I don't know what is. Government dey scam citizens! Chai!

Sanchez01,

I have not gotten an NIN, and will not ever get one willfully, except I am coerced to do so. Because I saw these coming.

Know the following and be prepared. Nigerians, including you, are a commodity. Your data was obtained for the sole purpose of sales and profiteering. Remember, it is not just your biodata that was taken, your face and finger prints are digital copies of your entity, hence the need for an IDentity to be in a Database.

Unfortunately, I agree with you albeit to an extent. I got mine in 2012. As a techie, I don't have too much worries about what the government can do with our data. Buhari is too predictable and his won't go beyond trace and arrest. The present government is a congregation of walking relics with no tiny understanding of how the new media and technology works. It doesn't bother me.

Most likely they want to use the Chinese idea.

The Chinese operate on credit system where points are added or removed from your score based on if you behave well or "badly" by govt standards.
Sunday Igboho and any other person speaaking against the govt will be on minus points. That means no govt sponsored health care, school, loans, jobs, blockage from traveling esp abroad etc etc for such people and their children. Its a way of controlling the masses.

Why would I need a government credit card when I have 2 different credit cards and about 5 debit cards in my wallet? How does that of the government benefit me differently from my credit cards?

Plus note, the language used on the portal is "subscription". This means it is converted to a token which in this form is a "credit". If it indeed works like a credit card, how come the government is asking people to go ahead to print themselves and laminate?

If it was to function like a credit card, the government is under equipped and uninnovative to come up with a global payment systems other than MasterCard and Visa. Jonathan partnered with them during his time until these set of clowns lies their way to power.

I understand the dynamics of credit cards even from a mile. This is not even close.
I believe the the government is aware of that, more so the government had since explained how the new identity card will look like as well as other things that it can be used for which includes transaction etc. Nevertheless, you are not compelled yet to transact only with government issued ID/credit card so why the noise?
Ohh , I see you talking about Jonathan, now I understand your pain but get well soon, government is a continuous thing, Jonathan met things at certain stage, contributed his part and move on and we re not stopping there.
Don't be surprised, the Jonathan you are crying for already has his premium national ID card loaded with cash.

Putting oil price per barrel into consideration, have you ever wondered how FG intends to pay up all these loans that the have stacked up?
Have you heard of the money made available to be looted?

Nigeria is a country so indepted ,yet with so much money available to be stolen.

And if You think this is the way to pay back the loan then you are as clueless as the government. You and I know someone is going to cash out big from this rip off on Nigerians.

If they are serious, let them first start with cutting down cost of running government especially the legislative and executive ,then we will know they are serious.

I saw this thread (https://www.nairaland.com/6641235/how-print-improved-nin-slip) last night and I wondered why the government can't be consistent for once. It is not just about getting Nigerians to link their NIN to their SIMs now but something else. I logged on to the portal (https://myportal.nimc.gov.ng/) this morning and saw some ridiculous things that only the Nigerian government is capable of attempting.

First, I was greeted with the picture below on the portal and I wondered why a National Commission tasked with regulating identity issues give me CREDITS (I have 30, according to my dashboard). Why would I need to purchase a SUBSCRIPTION from a government's portal; not just anyone but an IDENTITY COMMISSION PORTAL

As if that wasn't enough, I clicked through the subscription link only to find ridiculous tiers of subscriptions; from N100 to N1,000,000, all promising various degrees of credits. Is the government planning on charging Nigerians based on how their NIN QR codes or details are queried during verifications in banks, airports and in other places, particularly government establishments Why am I given 30 CREDITS if it doesn't matter or mean anything?

Not only that, but I also found out that there is a "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" section other than the "IMPROVED NIN SLIP". Although the "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" is currently unavailable, I am wondering why there is a class-play in the NIN slip.

The IMPROVED NIN costs N400 to download. However, I am somewhat convinced of what will likely play out.

1. The NIMC will discard the current slips and will most likely ask banks and other places where the ID is required to only honour the "IMPROVED NIN" or "PREMIUM NIN".
2. This will compel people to download for N400.
3. Say 50 million Nigerians pay N400 each to download the "IMPROVED NIN", this means the NIMC will be making N20 billion Naira from that alone. The number is a worst-case scenario since I anticipate that it will be mandated

MY QUESTIONS

1. Why is an identity commission bent on making money through the provision of NATIONAL IDs?
2. What is the purpose of the subscriptions its portal?
3. Why do Nigerians need NIMC CREDITS and why do we need to buy?
4. Why is there a PREMIUM NIN SLIP
5. Why do I need to pay N400 for a virtual card I will have to print and laminate on my own
6. Isn't it the duty of the Commission to provide Nigerians with FREE National IDs?
7. Who approved of this useless idea
8. Why do I have DEPENDENTS on my portal; implying I could share my subscriptions with them
9. Are the law-making arms of government aware of this daylight Oyenusi stunt? (Not like they are useful anyways but I am not sure there was any discussion on NIMC creating a money-making portal in the legislature.)
10. What is the endgame of government; to sap Nigerians further through insane anti-people policies as always and further create a class divide through the ID cards we carry around?
govt want to pay Chinese loan by all means possible!

This might be for the small roadside computer businesses that will be printing the cards for other Nigerians. As per what I know, the card is 400 naira which will cost 4 credits right. Maybe if you want to take it as a roadside business, you will load your portal and help other people to print. You can charge them for the services of printing to get your profit back.
I paid about N570 this morning on their website to download in pdf

They've been scamming people from the outset. Why should one pay for NIN registration when billions are earmarked for the operations of the NIMC?.
I did mine for free when the government had not attached much importance to it as is obtainable at the moment.
One thing is clear, if after six years of this insensitive administration you are still a zombie you'd remain a zombie forever.

Not sure why, all these underdeveloped government sites. Do you have another email address? Try it.

I only reserved the name online while I completed the process with offline agents. I read few stories of people who paid online and lost their money and I was wary of the scam happening again when I want to pay for the cert.

If it's just about the payment, I wouldn't mind, but having to pay and still not get what one pays for is annoying. I tried downloading the NIN from the portal yesterday, the payment went through successfully, but the download link did not pop up and I was requested to make another payment. If the download was the first, I would have thought the pop-up blocker was active, but it wasn't. I had downloaded few before then, so how in the world is one assured of value for money paid? How do we get these types of concerns resolved since no response is provided when emails I sent? The NIMC is just out to make money, and care less about issues the people that use their services might encounter.
