The Government of Rwanda, at the request of the Government of Mozambique is in the process of deploying a 1,000-person contingent of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP) to Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, which is currently affected by terrorism and insecurity.

The Joint Force commanded by Maj Gen Innocent Kabandana, will work closely with Mozambique Armed Defence Forces (FADM) and forces from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in designated sectors of responsibility.

All these will take lots of time and resources that we might not have now. The best solution to the problem of the northwest is to arm the citizens militia and subject them to government oversight. These bandits are very coordinated and the towns and villages they are laying waste too are starting to get occupied by jihadist. It's only a matter of time before the insurgency war shifts to the northwest, it is a fertile ground for the jihadist, the bandits already did the large part of the job for them and it gives them safety from the operations in the northeast. Others criminals from other countries will start moving in and before you know there will be anarchy and constant attacks.
The locals are already organizing themselves into vigilante groups to fight with crude weapons against the bandits, give them assault weapons to bridge the capability gap and see attacks reduce drastically.
Later on when, the resources is available, you can then absorb the militia into any force you want.

How do you get back the weapons?
How do you recover them when the bandits get hold of it? chances are high because they are mere civilians.
How do you recover them when the civilians use them for robbery & Kidnapping?

CJTF worked because Borno was already a war zone, majority of people there are combatants at the time.
NW isn't ripe for that yet.

I think the NAF response time has improved a lot. Even small checkpoints once they call for air support bird don show sharply.

Battle has come down Southern Borno, what do you expect?
Travel time is shorter so is logistics.

Nigeria does not buy second hand rifles.

The T-72 tanks under GEJ were off the shelf.

Artillery shells bought from South-Africa, Serbia and the Czech republic are all brand new.

The BMP-1 we purchased from the Czech republic was second hand, but the IFV we purchased from Ukraine was brand new. Yes, rejected by the Iraqi army, but was brand new nonetheless.

In the previous administration, NNS Centenary and NNS Unity were purchased from China brand new.

Hundreds of Inshore patrol vessels were purchased from France, Israel and Nigeria brand new.

Tavor-21 rifles, Berly M762 rifles and AK-103 rifles all brand new.

MRAPs from China and South Africa all new.

No offence, you're quite ignorant.

Bless you grin
Was just about stating this
Now, i wonder where the "Majority of Army Equipment" black market really coming from

That's not completely true that's strategic pseudo history. There are Bantus in Nigeria but there not aboriginal they where a small wave that moved and settled in the West from Cameroon before launching the Southern waves later .

The Migration start-point was centred in the east of Nigeria encompassing the part of Cameroon near Nigeria. I read this in numerous books taking their sources from competent researchers in the field. For some reason, the start point of this migration has been steadily shifted to Cameroon in contemporary literature. I personally believe that this shifting of the start point of the great migration from what is now Nigeria ending in South Africa to from Cameroon to South Africa owes more to political tinkering, perhaps some of these bogus Afrocentric Kemet, Nemet, Queen and Kings type works etc, than any new findings in the fields. The problem is that Nigerians don’t seem to take these things seriously because Nigerians are ignorant of how important they are to National grounding.

Nice One Gallant Soldiers.

Tho I’m confused on how he is mixing Sambisa and Baga. Two extreme ends that can take 4-5 hours from Baga to Sambisa

The Nigerian Police Trust Fund 2021 budget was approved N74Billion.

There are several interesting items there such as;
1 Specialized attack helicopter fully armored and weaponized
Repairs for Bell 412,206,427 helicopter
6 Fixed wing drone with range 0f 100-150km
10 Tag Terrier APC
Purchase of AR 15 Variants
like M4A1, CQBR, SIG SAUER 551/552, HK G36K ( Assault rifles for newly formed SWAT)

The End.
May God bless these guys

While reading through this story, I just imagined how the battles would have been swift and decisive with proper and precise air cover. Just 2 A29 super tucano in that 7 hour battle would have been able to take out about 60 strategic equipment or post within 10 min with APKWS while 2 armoured bell or EC350 helicopter gunners feast on the fleeing remnants. With this kind of air support, the battle would not even last 30 min.

When others research "in-depth" for themselves the text books evidence will be there for them to decide this, not you or me. Ultimately you or i did not go out on the field, researched for years, made discoveries and published our findings. We are shamefully relying on white people's work and as is evident in what you read and what I read, how they differ, they can twist information to fit thire political agenda or peddle contradictory evidence because they are unsure and still benefit from book sales. Besides of this, common sense should tell us migration flows from greatest numbers to lowest. Igbo number approximately 30/40 million in present day Nigeria. Where the are now in Nigeria is almost certainly their original homeland.

Rwanda is not the richest country in Africa or the most powerful country in terms of military equipment.
But deploying 1000 troops to Mozambique to help fight Islamic insurgents, shows that African problems can be solved by Africans in the best interest of Africans.
