A lie detector might be deployed by the Lagos state police command after 21-year-old Chidinma Ojukwu denied killing SuperTV CEO, Usifo Ataga, days after admitting to the crime several times on camera.

Recall that in a trending video interview with Crime Fighters, the University of Lagos claimed that she had nothing to do with the murder but only found Ataga’s corpse after returning to the service apartment where both of them had lodged at Lekki, Lagos State.

Ojukwu said;

“Before I was leaving, he stood up to lock the door, but when I got in, I was knocking, and when there was no answer, I opened and the door was already opened, as it wasn’t locked; the duvet and pillow were on the floor.

“The couch was facing the door and the bed was stained with blood already. The floor where he was was filled with blood and then music and TV were on. The room was already disarranged like someone broke in, then I saw him on the floor.

“I didn’t know what to do, so I took my things with his things and left. I was afraid; I didn’t know if I had raised the alarm, they would have arrested me for doing it because I and him were just the only people in the room.

“I just left; I was packing my things to leave, then I noticed that my clothes were stained, so I changed to another. I took the bag that contained his ID and documents like bank statements. So, I just packed them and put them into the nylon and left.

“I just did it; it is not like I had something to do with his death. I never had anything to do with his death.”

A senior police officer who reacted to Chidinma Ojukwu's "new story", told PUNCH Metro that a lie detector could be deployed to test if her latest claim was true or not.

The officer said;

"It appears that her lawyers or relatives are teaching her; but this is different from our investigation. This is a fake angle and she cannot dismiss convincing evidence that is already available and recorded, which she herself demonstrated.

“So, this means she is a two-faced person; she tells lies and when the investigation gets to a top level, they will use a lie detector to know whether she is telling the truth or not.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu also said that the UNILAG student is exhibiting traits of an active criminal with her new confession.

The police chief also recalled how she was recorded the night she was arrested and the state CIID.

Odumosu said;

“That is the trait of an active criminal; she was here, we recorded her. The night she was arrested, we recorded her at the state CIID, even the lady that rented the place to her, we recorded her and we have all that. If she now has an afterthought, investigation will prove that.”

God is own your side baby girl.

JUSTICE FOR CHIDINMA

Alexclem:
She was not forced into the hotel and she knew what the man wanted her for.
It wasn't a hotel. Secondly, she knows it was sex but she wasn't in the mood at that point in time. The man forced himself on her. Took advantage of her drunkenness. He might have drugged her.Who knows. I don't trust men. They can do anything for sex.

Ablecia:
This girl may not totally be innocent, but it's very difficult to believe she carried the act alone. The lazy Nigerian police should know this and do proper investigation instead of believing that this young girl tied that man up and stabbed him severely to death. I pray we'll get to know the truth in the end
No human, I repeat, No human especially a woman would kill his/her benefactor.

Calitoscassius:
Err.. all that confession can be disputed, When they arrested her they didn't provide her with a lawyer or allow her to speak to a lawyer, they just surrounded her with news reporters and they were the ones interrogating her. The police should have been the ones doing the interrogations with her lawyer present not news reporters. So yes she can claim she was under duress.

So this case is as good as dead, she will be freed.
She actually said those things under duress.
Watch the video again. This time around, pay a close attention to her lips and body language then compare it to that of that criminal who killed the Akwa Ibom job seeker.

Calitoscassius:
Yes, I believe she said those things under duress how did people expect her to behave after been accused of murder? Her body language doesn't prove she is a killer, courts do not judge by body language also, they judge by evidence and what can be proved in court. An innocent person can have this same body language.

She coiuld claim she was afraid with all that cameras infront of her and all the humiliations and interogations so she conffessed, conffessions doesn't nercerssarily mean guilty and if she didn't sign any confession she can still change her story.

As i said, they should have provided a lawyer or allow her access to a lawyer (counselling) before the interogations.

Why do you think she changed her story now? Because all that news reporters questionings and confessions infront of cameras were not official nothing was signed and people have different ways of handling pressure and duress, she could also claim that she was pressurised into confessing.

Police should have investigated properly instead of relying on social media and mob justice. They have bungled the investigations already. She will go free alld she need is a good lawyer. Let the courts decide!
She has a good lawyer who is her cousin.
I've been following the man up. She WILL be freed.
Thanks for your logical reasoning. God bless you Calitoscassius

Lol...Nigerian Police dat are full of lies want to deploy a lie detector..Nigerian Police is jus a joke. U arrested a suspect and instead of investigating and taking her to court to prove ur case, U parade her before the media to make confessions in the public domain.. What is the essence of parading suspects before the media to make confessions instead of the courts?

It's hard to believe this girl struggled with that man and killed him with no help , no single scratch on her body. She could have killed him by poisoning his alcoholic drink instead of using a knife, it's hard to believe

Lie detectors are not hundred percent accurate and are therefore not reliable as evidence in court.

A simple way of finding out has been tabled and those are the FACTS she confessed and was not under duress.

She did not report the murder or death but simply went home, told no one but her best friend, partner and confidant @saphiere who chose to keep it a secret

Jungle justice sometimes is the way to go. Now she will say she made those earlier statements and interviews under duress. Gets a lawyer who knows how to lie, twist the case and go Scott free. Unfortunately the dead man cannot speak for himself.

Really
I want to understand something, why’s that this particular murder case is just shaking ridiculously?
She’s a murder suspect, she confessed to killing him, withdrew money from his account. What else remain .If they don’t want to punish her for crime at least they should just say it , all these nonsensical questions and ideas They’re not even helping matters. Lie Detector? We joke too much sha .
The conclusion is that this particular girl isn’t telling us something There’s more to it . Obviously there are bigger third parties that mostly assured her release .
This is just a FALSE ALARM

Thats a very good reason why the police shouldn't be in a haste to parade suspects and expose them to journalists and their torrents of questions until all investigation is concluded.

Now, someone is already saying that her first confession may be under duress and a good lawyer will capitalize on that.

Like detectors don't work on innate liars.

This case is abt to swept under the carpet. U wanna use a lie detector for a case as clear nd glaring as this? Wat hapns to investigation nd charging her to court thereafter? Would they hv contemplated using a lie detector if the suspect was a guy? Wat a country.
