Rather than provide evidence to make a point on the issue at hand, some group of elders who are supposed to be representatives of a larger group result to joke.
This is how they will be looking around for who say what till presidency will sleep of their hands in 2023.
Have you noticed that no one from that region has shown interest? Yet they want presidency.
They now ride behind the Yorubas under the umbrella of power must go to the South.

You guys know how to delude yourselves that anyone is riding behinde u...that is the reason why a united South will never work and the Northerners know this...At the end of the day the betrayers of the south will still do what they are good at. Who in the South west has indicated interest aside from rumours here and there.

There is nothing in the Nigerian constitution that suggests rotational presidency.

If anyone has a different opinion, he/she should provide evidence.

It was a PDP concept which even they have abandoned by always providing Atiku as their candidate.

There are so many problems that just common sense would solve but unfortunately the people from there northern states seems to lack such common sense.
The only advantage the northerners would rely upon is their population and the same population has been causing us greater pains or how can you explain the fact that a jobless idiot would have the guy to marry many wives thereby given birth to many almajiris so that they came outwit the southerners when it comes to an election.
Nobody is begging the northerners to relinquish power come 2023 but the fact that their almighty buhari did succeeded in messing up Nigeria then I wonder if the northerners would smell the seat of power coming next election.

Don't be stupid.

Nobody is asking Buhari to continue, neither is he interested.

The fact remains, rotational presidency isn't constitutional but a gentleman's agreement, a convention which the party that employed it at the beginning has long abandoned.

Is the English Language too difficult for you to understand?

There are many gentle men agreement in life that are not in constitution.; U carry a shared portion b4 ur younger siblings, its good to share with ur siblings ur hard earn income etc. Are they in ur constitution.
We ooze selfishness wen it favours us

Wether you believe in it or not. , events from 2023 will surely force you to vomit the presidency! All these sma sma na initial gra gra. Nobody is begging you to hand over. You will do so by yourself to survive the heat that will follow... Abacha insisted on retaining power in the 90s, the same way you guys are doing today. In the end, it was your elites that conspired to eliminate him so you can hand over to Obasanjo and save yourselves... Power and presidency is not your birthright! Going forward, that presidency will be so hot in your hands post 2023 that you will beg to surrender that to get some air..

Don’t let some ignorant folks decieve you. From my interaction, the general feeling in the North is that power should go South. It’s just political desperadoes that are insisting it should be retained. Please don’t mind them

Not accepting truth is one of the easy way to failure. You don't know of anyone from the west who has indicate interest but you know about the person that is being rumoured to have interest, can you show me someone of that kind of rumour in the East?

How is it a crime for a young man interested in ruling the nation to reject the call for rotational presidency? So what if he was still a student when some folks sat together to decide on it? Was it a consensus?

Is it a crime for a young person to express his interest in ruling the nation? These same people will still end up saying any young person that tries to rule was still in school when they started planning xyz, but as soon as they themselves get into power, they end up wasting time and resources on medical trips because they're fit to die, not fit to rule. Yet they are quick to attack the vibrant youths on the basis of age.

It was back in the days when the word "elders" made much sense. We all see how elders act like babies today, especially around money. So, whats good for the elders is good for the youngsters.

So, is Nigeria so cursed that it must be ruled by dinosaurs that no vibrant youth was alive when they started their own journeys?

Going round in circles.

It is not backed by constitution which is the thrust of this whole debate.

It is noble but its truncation has been unabashedly supported by Ohaneze, so why the sudden u-turn?

I guess they think they have a shot at the seat and wish to lean on this argument for their case. grin

Eating your cake and having it, na their way.

Of course now its convenient u can mock ppl calling for regional rotation of power.

Don't forget the main reason for the amalgamation of northern and southern regions was economic equity, in respect to distribution and allocation of resources.

To make up for deficit in the north, revenue from the south were distributed to the north and also for access to ports for international trade.

Principles of equity and fairness have always been a prerequisite for any society to flourish.

A multi ethnic country like Nigeria ought to adhere to such principles because its own existence depends on it.

Southerners are threatening everybody that they must have come 2023;
this 2023 presidency useless Southern governors & politicians are galivanting up & down insisting they must have -- governors & politicians whose only idea of governance is to issue press statements every month on Fulani herdsmen, cattle grazing & 2023 presidency to distract their gullible state citizens from the resources & allocations of their states they have stolen with nothing to show for it;
you will see how these Southern governors & greedy power drunk Southern politicians will kill & destroy each other just to pick & present one presidential candidate.
Watch how they will burn down the South with insecurity on the eve of 2023 as all these militias, unknown gunmen, Amotekun, Ebube Agu, ESN, OPC, Cult gangs, the various states police & vigilantes in the South will get new sponsors in these Southern governors & politicians as well as new sophisticated weapons from them as they jostle to eliminate each other & weaken the political base of their opponents to be able to pick the presidential ticket for themselves.
The sad shame however is that after destroying themselves, The Southern homeland, wasting the resources of Southern states & the lives of Southern misguided youths just to pick a presidential ticket, they will still turn back & blame the North for the destruction their unbridled greed for power for selfish ends brought on the South.
You see this Southern presidential agitations...
Well, enough said already!

Sharia Law is enshrined in our constitution by an act of State Assemblies, last time i checked, state assemblies according to our constitution have the power to formulate laws for a state under their purview.

This current ohanézè is vocal and proactive. Good one from them.

The presidency and governorship selection method should be overhauled . It should be rotational between South & North, with each of the six region taking turns to rule.

That brings fairness and equity just as it is done in Switzerland.

The federal character should be revisited to advocate for MERIT in terms of admission into schools but........that way it will encourage competition.

The senate should be sitting 4-6 times in a year.

Each state should be made to contribute a threshold quota into federal account to enjoy federal allocation. Our governors are too lazy, give them direct assignment and indirectly their citizens.

The components of budget especially those of MDAs every year should be open to public review. That way we citizens can know what Government plans to do & if it was done.........this allows more transparency and accountability.

Time to jettison SHARING MENTALITY (national cake) and introduce production mentality.

More powers removed from Federal level and given to states. Policing should be state based while Army & DSS should remain with federal.

LGA councillors, LGA chairmen, State House of reps, senators should have offices in their respective representative places and spend significant time for easy access by their constituents.

Ohaneze's comment applies to ipob kid terrorists not Nigerian youths who have every right to debate the validity of any agreement made by unelected individuals.

PS southern tribal like this one believe in Quota system presidency not merit which they recommend for ordinary Nigerians not their elites.
