condomuser: The bolded makes no sense. In a country of over 200m people, how many can possibly emigrate from Nigeria that the emigration will affect property values? How many people can legally emigrate from Naija? Even through illegal means sef? You talk as if millions of people are emigrating everyday and driving property values down Nigerians have been emigrating since decades ago. But the number of people emigrating is nothing compared to those that remain. If you must know, the fact that Naija is rough for some people doesn’t mean that people are not making money in this same Naija. Social media just makes it look like everyone dey suffer for Naija. But the truth is some people are doing well o. And money still dey circulate... 18 Likes |

Diyke4rich: According to the CIA World Factbook Total population of Nigeria: 219,463,862 (July 2021 est.) 14.862 million Lagos, 4.103 million Kano, 3.649 million Ibadan, 3.464 million ABUJA (capital), 3.171 million Port Harcourt, 1.782 million Benin City (2021) The CIA uses satellite imagery and other methods to make fairly accurate estimates of population. But I guess you know better than the CIA. |

chigo4u: Why are you averaging 4m? Those figures are for the cities not the state. Average per state is more like 5 million plus when you add up other cities in the state. |

einsteine: In most states, once you leave the capital, population reduces massively. There's no way in Nigeria we have a population of 200m. Even 150m is a huge stretch. Our population should be realistically around 120m. 5 Likes |

Tobex4realTobex234: Hello bro I tried sending a mail but nairaland isn't allowing me to. I was researching opening offshore accounts, particularly standard Chartered account cause of their wide spread, and I bumped into this. Would you mind sharing how to get this done? Is there a way to reach you directly. Will appreciate your feedback. |

Zobah: Lol. That we all know - corruption and laxity has eaten Nigeria up, obviously your ex, as a non-Nigerian, is not supposed to have a voter's card. I meant officially - you are supposed to be a legal resident of the country before you can access the banking system, and your ex should have been asked for a resident permit/BVN. In Kenya you will need a KRA pin (Tax ID) in addition to formal residence, and while you could go there and get one if you put your mind to it, that will also expose you to paying tax in Kenya, and they don't play with that, so the spiral would continue. 5 Likes |

Cyberknight: This is true to a large extent, but there are workarounds. To have a proper Kenyan bank account, the 2 ways I know you can do this: - get a job in Kenya - start a business in Kenya I opened mine with my Nigerian passport but it was processed by the Kenyan company I was working for. The business route is now more cumbersome as you now need some Kenyans as key shareholders. That said, if you travel to Kenya, you can easily get a Safaricom sim that allows you enrol for MPESA. That in itself is a very good first step. You can now install Chipper or Eversend. Come to think of it, this looks like a good startup opportunity because if Nigeria goes the Sudan way, even emmanuelewumi go they find offshore account |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Cyberknight: 8:44am On Jul 20, 2021 |
Nezzjnr: I know I'm repeating myself- its simply because I have a dog in the fight . Once Nigerians start speaking of "ways" and workarounds, we know where it gets to and that makes things difficult for the rest. I've a long association with Kenya, and I've seen the situation of Nigerians there worsen and I don't want Kenya to turn into Ghana for Nigerians, a place where we are now hated instead of being celebrated as we once were because they easily blame us for frauds and all sorts. 3 Likes |

This guy you they talk as if e they illegal to open off shore account. I'm sure if people do their researches properly, there would be ways to open non-resident account. That you don't know how something works doesn't mean it must be shady. Why am I even expecting more from people that think crypto is strictly fraud. |
