If you have the two slots at your disposal, I will advise you pick the immigration slot since you stated that safety is your topmost priority.


DSS are always engage in tracking down high profile politicians and business Mogul and this leaves them in the bad books of these politicians.

However, not all DSS officials are tasked with the above responsibility, but the job is kinda risky in the present day Nigeria.

You must be a northern. ....well for me I will choose the DSS. I knw what it is like there. You will enjoy every good rights as "a don't touch him" citizen of this country and you get to know about the real and hidden facts about Nigeria.

The only disadvantage I knw is that you will be far from your immediate family and many secrets will be kept far from you if you are a southerner.

Good morning l have worked with all for me l prefer immigration because it is less stressful you can do so many PP's , your transfer is not rapid like DSS . Through immigration you meet so many people , your life is in more danger in DSS . The two advantages in DSS is power and accidental political richness that is rare. Immigration is the answer.

One thing is recommending you for a job, your safety, postings etc depends on your attitude while on the job.

Are you the social bird type?
Are you the type that values living very close to your immediate family at all times? If yes, go for immigration.

But if you are out for field adventures, and the conservative type, I think DSS suits you.

Go for one that you can easily align with vis-à-vis your personality and expectations as working class man.

With DSS, you are exposed to a lot of top class training and intelligence gathering techniques.

Their pay and allowances is also good.

You can also easily become a security consultant after your service with the agency.

If you choose immigration, you will be hoping to be posted to a Passport processing office, a lucrative outfield office, MMIA (having low activities now), Oil platform like NLNG or the juiciest which is getting foreign posting to a first class European Country , USA , Canada .

Most of the job bit in Immigration are 'safe' except those in the outfield but they are mostly safe too if they don't involve in smuggling deals.

Basic Entry Salary for a Graduate in Immigration is also above 100k so its not a bad option too.

More money is made in either of the job options from 'runs' with Immigration having more of this but I believe this wouldn't be your focus. Lol

For DSS, if you are posted to Ops, it may be a little tricky when it comes to safety as you are exposed to all sorts of high calibre criminals but they are still far safer than say Nigeria Police or those in the Armies as some of them are only on the fields for intelligence gathering.
