Don't use Igbo to take Ika damages. The Ika are slavish. Those claims by Reno cannot be extended to the Igbo hinterland and Reno knows it.

I have always wondered why the OSUS are so hated in the east. At least I have some knowledge of that now. So being my humble self I say thanks for the knowledge cool

Hmmm. Just like to shake table. I appreciate reading about the origin of the foreign names in Warri but don't want this kind of stuff on slavery that do not bind us shared in this manner in our history books now that history is back in the school curriculum.
More studies are required because we are in the era of history revisionism especially from that same axis of Nigeria he mentioned.
But deep down we all know its true, Africans sold Africans as slaves.

They’re still a force though but nothing like what they were. Even the Usman Dan Fodio Dynasty in the North is nothing like it was. Times have changed.

it was done by mainly fellow Africans. The British couldn't defeat the Benins. The reason everything was looted was that the Brits promised all the African protectorates soldiers from South Africa to the Niger deltas lots of bronze and gold if they were able to take the kingdom so they had to turn everything upside down in search of valuables the moment the kingdom fell. Britain vs Old Benin in a one on one battle Britain would lose 99/100 and be completely slaughtered.

Even the Itsekiris were under the Bini. Reno is being smart by half for saying the Itsekiri and the Binis. It was actually the Binis.

The Bini empire was the only one in Nigeria the Portuguese and later the British referred to as ‘Great’ in all of their text. Its influence spanned into the south west to present day lagos, ondo & ekiti, beyond the river Niger up to the kalabari and even cross rivers.

Its was for the untainted loyalty of the king in calabar to the Bini throne that he choose to be banished there by the British.

Lol, u have no idea what u are talking about Even the Portuguese will tell u they came in contact with the itsekiri before the Bini.

Itsekiri was a kingdom form by Bini royalty so how can they be under the Bini.

Mind the founder of itsekiri was a Bini Prince and heir to the throne.

When you conquer an area, you don’t have to go into every of its towns and villages to do so. Once you attack and capture its seat of power, it’s considered that you have captured the whole area under the influence of that power.

It is for a reason that the Oba of Lagos is in Eko yet he is not called Oba of Eko but Oba of Lagos. But the Oba of badagry is called Oba of badagry not Oba of Lagos. Now do you get?

zinizta:

Not semantics

Eko is referred to the area now known as Lagos Island.... The world Eko got it's origin from Benin

Lagos is a name given by the portuguese because it shares semblance with a port city in Portugal bearing the same name and the area includes but not limited to the Lagos Island

You get?

Someone should tell Reno to go and read his bible which doesn't require a source to prove a story and stop writing history that has no source. Seems he has issues with Igbos since Kanu's arrest. Unfortunately, people actually believe this.

Africans traveled, inter-married, traded among ourselves thousands of years before Europeans existed. Such mutual co-existence between communities as he talked about is natural and didn't develop as a result of slavery. Otherwise, he has to give me a proof that slavery was the basis for communal co-existence all over the world.

Here's an easy way to know that he made things up......

Escravos is Portuguese for slaves, NOT IGBO SLAVES.

Forcado means something like hard work, NOT IGBO HARD WORKER.

Those two words were already in use in Europe before they got to Africa and has nothing to do with Igbos. They simply named a town just as you have LAGOS in Nigeria but the original Lagos is in Portugal. And there are many other Lagos in other places the Portuguese went because they named it after their own native coastal town over there in Portugal.

The coastal towns bore the brunt of slavery all over the world where Europeans went, therefore, it couldn't have been more Igbo slaves that ended up at those ports but his own people.

Good enough he has been taken out of circulation. Your reasoning capacity will gradually be restored.
Senator wali at constitutional conference to make case of the unique ikwerre identity in 1963 ? Explain further ,
Who was senator wali in 1963?
What Constitutional conference was that, was it federal or regional conference?

What was the population of the ikwerre in 1963?

Even the French were not refered to as French from the beginning..

Also... Apart from the Igbo history revisionists who lie to suit their propaganda, there is no sign, belief, fact , history that the igbos once had a clan in Benin land...

The indigenous people of Benin who have been present on their land has been speaking the same language as their forefathers in 1000AD... Its only outsiders that formulate stories to feed their ego About the great Benin nation

Take ur land grabbing exercise to Calabar
these guys are funny. I can chronologically tell trace all tribes in Edo back to as far back as 900 AD when ogiso igodo formed the ogiso dynasty. Igbos that were scattered throughout Eastern parts of Nigeria and the Cameroons are now claiming to own Edo?

Why do you think that a lot of Ekiti/Ondo culture tilts towards the Edos other than the yoruba? Even the Iyan they eat or claim as theirs is Edo’s food. The core yorubas are known for Amala, lafun etc. Even their indigenious language is arguably Edoid.

Some are even dragging America with "real" Americans.

Pounded Yam is a well known Yoruba's food mostly eaten by Ijesa(Yoruba sub tribe) and Ife people same as Amala but Amala is mostly eaten by Oyo people

Which part of the Ekiti/Ondo culture tilts toward Edo?

Is it the Monarchial system? Dressing? no Ondo/Ekiti language is Edoid

If you don't know there is actually no core Yoruba, no Yoruba is more Yoruba than the other

It is actually Benie culture that tilts toward Yoruba, which part of Benin culture wasn't gotten from Yoruba?

Are you serious? That's interesting

Yes dear, we were all one, just like present day nations, sharing something together, we traded, we had a supreme court, we had tourism areas, we had places which made us integrate culturally and emotionally.

But when Nigeria came the brainwash started, and we've forgotten who and where we came from, or our past relationship.

People fighting for rubbish here is funny to me. Trying to claim who is superior to who, and this is the same tactics the politicians use to win their elections, and we end up saying 'this person is bad and that is bad' when the politicians or those in power are using the tactics we are freely given them.

Nigerians are not ready for the real change. grin... We are still in the stone age, trying to find why we are here? grin

But what baffles me is why the Bini and is power refused to subdue the Igbo lands, as it claimed to be powerful. It doesn't make sense ooo grin...I guess the Oba or Ogiso was scared of the east.

The east was like a no man's land with no heads, hence no true king in the east, before a king puts his neck on the line for a territory the land must have resources needed, just as the west was like a trade zone, they captured people who ventured into their own territory, you can't go into full war with a land with no true king. Just like the itsekiri lay claim to lands surrounded by water or if water is nearby

That the Ekiti/ondo prefers Iyan to amala is not a yardstick. Which culture those Ekiti/Ondo have as resemblance to Bini? Rather we have the Yoruba speaking part of Edo, many culture of Edo and names have same semblance with Yoruba with Yoruba meaning. This is not only peculiar to Bini alone. Go to Kogi, Edo, Delta and Benue, Benin republic n far Brazil etc. There a lot of Yorubas migrant there. But you can say anything to make you feel relevant. Edo have never, will and can never match the yorubas anywhere.

The Portuguese met the Awori in Lagos in 1472

When the British arrived in Lagos Oyo held Badagry to Porto Novo, The Abeokuta Egba Army held all of Lagos Mainland to Abeokuta Which they won in the Ota War of 1842 ,Ijebu held everything East and North of Lekki.

All the Oba of Lagos held was the Slave market and Port of Isale Eko on Lagos Island which belonged and still belongs to the Awori
