Not Urhobo slaves, but the kingship in Urhobo land pays homage to the King in Benin.

In past time, when an Urhobo king dies, the head is cut off and sent to Bini kingdom for keeps. The new selected king has to go to Benin to pick his late fathers skull, if he picks the wrong one, he is killed.

This is a tradition that has been upheld for centuries, I really do not know about now though, since politics and government has turned everything sideways.
Can you even imagine the rubbish you are spewing here?
A king dies and his head is cut off? Use your common sense.

Kings are buried with heads of slaves, no king in the entire world has died and his head cut off.

You are very foolish for saying this not because I am Uhrobo but because it's purely a fallacy.

lekki was initially called Ẹki, the esan word for market. That was where Yoruba slaves were sold. Idumagbo was initially idumuigbon the esan word for slave quatets. It was later renamed idumuagbo meaning humans quarters. The name it was called back then was Eko, the esan word for settlement. Eko is surrounded by Yoruba villages reason they were able to easily sieve into the city and populated it and subsequently "claiming" it later.

okay, the Oba was just a marketer of slaves, he wasn't looking forward to conquer, so Yoruba gave him the swamp land for his trade...now I get the point, to me that wasn't conquering ohhh, Nnukwa!!! grin...that's called diplomacy.

Yoruba's were friendly to give Oba Aturpooro land, now his subjects are fighting for him saying Lagos and west are their own. Seee chewing the finger that fed you... grin grin

Fixed. Yorubas and Itsekiris are slaves to nobody.

The Portuguese would beg to disagree! There are millions of your kinsmen (yorubas, edos et al) sold into in Brazil and the Americas. Black people are a cursed race. EOD!!

THE FACT THAT IGBO FEATURED MAJORLY IN THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE WAS DOWN TO THE OBA OF BINI AND OBONG OF CALABAR.

THEY REGULARLY CONDUCTED SLAVE RAIDS INTO NEARBY IGBO VILLAGES.

THE OBONG OF CALABAR AND OBA OF BINI ACTED AS MIDDLE MEN FOR THE EUROPEAN SLAVE TRADERS.

I HOPE RENO KNOWS THE ACTION OF ITSEKIRI AND BINI DURING THIS PERIOD WAS SHAMEFUL AND NOTHING TO BE PROUD ABOUT

Thank you.

The Itsekiri were actually middlemen in the trade cos of their proximity to the seas. Slavers either sell the slaves to them and they in turn sell to the Europeans or the collect tax (comey) for direct sales.

The Itsekiris are not really a warrior tribe that can conduct slave raids by themselves.

And like you said, it's a shameful act and I don't know why Reno brought this kind of subject up.

Thank your stars the Nigerian Army (sponsored by the UK and US) intervened. Your people were already creaming their pants. Bunch of minorities. Do you know how insignificant your people are to Nigerian politics? If you were an Ijaw man I'd have shown more concern. The Benin Empire fell ages ago and has been plundered several times. All that's left is a bunch of mud huts in a back water village somewhere. Stop clinging to lost glory. When's the last time any Edo related topic was even mentioned on Nairaland?
A lot of Ibos in Benin were lynched, they paid a price. Of course FG is in charge of the entire nation, and naturally the army will intervene. In history your people have always been conquered by Benin, this is fact. What you are saying is mere wishes, if Ibos ever had the power to attack Benin they could have done so, but history has shown you that, Ibos were once slaves to Benin. All states of the South south emanated from Benin, the tribes transcend present day Benin city. Idiot.

Or wait, if you are talking on this side. Yoruba's had states to, haven't you heard of the Ekiti-parapo wars and the likes. There were wars in those lands, and they could have probably given the Oba land knowing he was good in slave trade and at good heads with the colonialist at that time.

So, the Oba would have been a diplomatic partner with the some parts of the westerners which gave him avenue to sell people brought out from wars, or kidnapped from forigen lands. kiss

The past and future of the Bini is slave hunters business.
From outright selling of young men and women to Portuguese in the name of slave trade to the trafficking of girls to Italy for prostitution.

Which History? I hope it isn't in that museum in Bini, you call museum, or your parents brainwashed you.

Igbos, weren't even looking forward to Bini in the civil war, it was easy to bring it down. Their main place was Lagos, as soon as they had the capital they had Nigeria, and all the armed forces controlled by the government would have to lay low. That was the practice.

The civil war was like a chess game, but sentiments were brought in, and you say Igbo lost. My dear everyone lost, are you enjoying the Nigeria you brought in today? Tell me, are you? So, stop claiming royalty like the British monarchy, because in this century the aspect of Royalty and subjects doesn't work.

If it was even pre-colonial days, the Oba won't have the mind to near East, it was a no go area for him, and that's truth. grin

Eko came from the Benin

Ikwerre area was one of the major melting point of Igbo-Ijaw trade led by Aros and Kalabaris. You made a point from Okrika-Kalabari point of view but in reality there is still more to it. Oha was a Southern Igbo term for all the people which was adopted in the phrase "Oha na eze" meaning the people and Kings also called "Oha nu Eze" in modern Ikwerre. If you visit towns and clans in the South Igbo area including Owerri, Ohaji and Ikwerre they have a title system known as Oha which is a bit similar to North Igbo "Ozo". In the South the traditional rulers lead with Oha as cabinet members unlike Ndi Nze or Ichie in the North. "Ihuru Oha" means 2 things which is "face of the people" or "the first of Ohas" It means when you are approaching Igboland you first meet the "face" before entering the hinterland. Ihuruoha was never a single man who gave birth to Ikwerre but collective name taken by the people. The Igbo as an ethnic group was defined by the Portuguese using language similarities and perception from neighboring groups as basis. For example in the video posted by Reno Omokri to support his claims the historian said Binis were always at war with their Igbo neighbours to the East and that Igbo neighbor is present day Ika in Delta State.

The meaning of iwhuruoha can be translated to mean anything depending on who is translating, but I have said is what was told to me by grandparents who were businessmen in Ikwerreland before the creation of Port harcourt in the 1930s, The Ikwerre kings bragged about theirselves with their names. They were known as warriors.

My knowledge of events that happened around Rivers State as told by my grandparents is all I will emphasize on, in order not to misinform. I cant claim to know much about the Ikas.

Anyways I hope some one has picked up
