The High Rate Of Begging In Nigeria. by Nobody: 7:44pm On Jul 24, 2021
On monday 19th July, I was having bottled water in an eatery. One lady approached me, she should be about 22, she introduced herself by name and begged to sit at my table. I agreed. The next thing she said was that she needed help.

I told her to continue, she said she was stranded, that she lost her wallet. And that she was sent to purchase something. I doubted her but I still wanted to help. At first I asked whether she had transport fare to go home, she answered straight, "I can sort that out". In my mind, hmmm.

So what's the matter ? I asked. She said she needed N1,000 that it was exactly the amount she lost. I now wanted to get a clearer picture. I added again, " Did you throw away your purse or wallet ? She said no, that she didn't come out with a purse ! That the money slipped outta her jeans. red flag

I said okay, take N1k. She went again, sir can I get N200 from you ? I was like, but the first question I asked you was, " Do you have Tfare to get home " ? And you said that you can sort that out. Second red flag..

Wednesday, sitting out again, a woman came with same format. I remembered Monday, I didn't give her attention, because my plate of food had my attention.

Omo, today again, this boy showed up, "Sir can I talk to you " I just told him that I was not here to talk but to eat. The boy don cross here more than 5 times. I no send beggars again.

Where is this country going ?

I hate seeing this nonsense called "Red flag"
If you are a lady above 25 using such word then you must go for deliverance.
If you are a man of any age using such, just forget about it, visit psychiatric hospital

Most of the begging you see are by Yorubas. But they never humble themselves to tell you that things are hard for them, instead keep envying Igbos God has blessed and calling them fraudsters but will still go behind the scenes to beg them. Things are very hard in this country since the coronavirus economic downturn and reduction in oil revenue & allocation, and government/civil service looting. Only mostly businessmen and women are doing well, who happen to be Igbos.

Just because you are priveledge for "NOW" don't feel entitled

When anybody approach me I simply tell you straight don't tell.me your story because I won't help you

And if I am to help I just give what I can afford without asking for stories either

Well

I won't say a word

Privilege? Are those people disabled? If the guy had been like them, would he be able to help?

Not saying all those beggars are not genuine but there are some that are just lazy ass.

Nairaland is another good example of how begging has gone into extreme in Nigeria

Bro, I am not saying their are no real beggars due to circumstances, but there are also reasonable number of people begging unnecessary..

If you are going to anywhere, it's logical to have your to and fro tfare. Giving excuse about the person you were about to meet wasn't available is not convincing enough..

Let's even put begging from outsiders, how about from Family and friends who think they must force their way with begging..

Begging is becoming another gory situation in Nigeria

Those sick people, most of them are Yorubas pretending. If you want to test, just forward me the link whenever they most and I''ll contact them and get their information to show they are mostly yorubas. these are able body men and healthy for that matter but lazy.

Oga if u have pls give. Nobody likes begging. Secondly most people are ashamed of begging directly so have to devise means of begging. Once someone start telling me stories, i immediately cut him off and ask how much do u want.

We like to encourage bad things in this country, we know things are not easy but we are talking about able bodied people here, these people will never be satisfied, give them the amount they want, they'll still go to another person and so on, I used to give them money but these days, mba, I'll rather give my money to disabled people.

The sad part of it is that you that need help maybe you don't know exactly descriptions of where you are going. If you call people they will not mind you because they thought you want to beg for alms.
