As Nigeria Is it now let me say 40k will be manageable for them

In Remote parts of Lagos , 100k monthly.

In Ibadan , 50k. I guess.

I tell you, those saying N40k may not have that family size and are not talking from experience. It all depends on the area you live. And if you have a little garden. If not, your wife must be a super Manager to do with N40K/month i.e. 40,000÷30days N1,300per day.

As for apartments, they can afford three bedroom that's why they are in three bed rooms if not they would have been in semi flat

N40k monthly towards school fees,
N16k monthly (N200/child/20 school days for breaktime snacks),
N90k monthly (N3000*30days) for feeding,
N14k monthly for miscellaneous.

Note this isn't including transportation because I don't have an idea how best to quantify that.

these are items you don't spend on on monthly basis. They're done at most, quarterly or so. These items are being budgeted for from savings.

don't expect the birthrate to go below 3-4 kids, Nigeria is a high birthrate, high deathrate society so people have many children to increase their odds of having children that reach adulthood.

Me with 1kid self, I spend upto 25k in a month...

Petrol to fuel generator, because we hardly have light at night 7PM-10pm or sometimes 11pm which cost N2500 every week (10k monthly).. it is a must my wife on geneator, because of my baby..

I stay in a two flat apartment, so I pay PHCN bill 2500 each with my neighbour

Rest go on feeding, and other miscellaneous, and that's because I only go home once or twice a month, as I work in Lagos, and stay in my family house in Lagos...

As I dey manage reach, I am not sure that amount will cover for both wifey and I if I were already married o considering all regular expenses.

at least that amount to live decently except you are able to cut expenses like living in the family house, your are a teacher and some of your children are therefore entitled to scholarships, you have a farm etc.
