As far as the hardware is good, in my opinion, Nigeria needs to invest in countering the terrorist ideologies. If the military can win over the hearts and the minds of the Northern populace, Fewer people from there will be willing to join terror or criminal gangs. This will also make intelligence gathering easier since people will actively provide information
Governance should be visible in rural areas. Local Government Area reforms will do it. Govs should stop stealing LGA funds. Let police posts be well equipped. Provide renewable energy sources. Provide viewing centers, schools and medicare. When the mind is bombarded by many influences and there is security, radical Islam won't take root.

Funny enough, the Niger Delta is not better. So also many communities in the SW
Bring back strong LGAs now.

Stopped watching the video half way through, couldn't stomach it. The men would have had a higher percentage of survival if they had stayed and put up a fight. This shows that not everyone is cut out for that occupation. The irony of it is at that moment, someone high up in government could be shagging some ladies and having an orgy.

Hehehehe grin battle field air dominance with super Tucano? We are trouble in this country.

You people here must think other nations joke with issues of security and defense... With what we have currently and our shameful show of weakness before an uncivilized and untrained gang of insurgents, any war between Nigeria and an African nation that knows its salt, will be fierce, short and decisive. Propaganda will not save us when we are faced with an enemy that understands our weaknesses.

Super Tucano Air dominance. Haba. You think you will be fighting with a tribe of unexposed Kenyan safari people who are armed with spare? The tucanos will be shot down by even the oldest cold war era air defense systems.

Nigeria is populous and we have crowd, but how mobile is that crowd how mechanized is our army. Can we move 2 divisions of the army from one place to the other without exposing our soft belly?

The Nigerian armed forces is weak, slow and too heavy to move itself.

alshabaab had been aiming to establish an insurgency within kenyas landmass in boni forest along somali border similar to what happened in mozambique, so far a failed attempt

Personally I've reservations about Uhuru wearing the uniform when he's not and has NEVER been a soldier. There are rules and only a sworn officer or soldier is allowed to do so. Them's the facts! Universally, be it Finland, Vietnam or anywhere in between.
Granted, he's done more for the KDF than any other prez for which I will ALMOST forgive his laziness and self centeredness but still...

kenya airforce F 5 tiger ii
Those things STILL have life in them ! Fyi, even the Swiss still fly them.

The defence ministry said the incident happened in an uninhabited area near the resort of Melchsee-Frutt in central Switzerland on Wednesday.

The pilot, who was on a training ride as a “sparring partner” for two other air force fighters, managed to eject before the plane went down. Details of the cause of the crash are as of yet unknown.

The plane was a Northrop F-5 Tiger model – one of two types of fighters currently operated by the Swiss air force, along with the Boeing F/A-18.

The Swiss army has 26 F-5 Tigers, purchased in 1978, and used now only for training purposes, in daylight and in clear weather conditions.

Sometimes I WONDER if Naijjan mums know what their little niggas are up to online.
The KA aviation unit was set up wayyyyy back in '79 with 35 KD 500s and 4 yrs ago upgraded to the bigger 530s.

The first helicopters arrived in Kenya in the first week of December 1979 packaged in crates. After assembling the helicopters, the first public and official demonstration of the two helicopters was staged at Moi Air Base (MAB) Eastleigh, where they were put through all manuvers before high – ranking Government officials. The 50th Air Cavalry Battalion was one of the most significant additions to the army, taking delivery of 32 Hughes Defender helicopters in 1980 and 1981. Approximately one-half of the battalion was equipped with helicopters armed with the modern rapid-fire 30mm Chain Gun, while the other half fielded tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided (TOW) antitank missiles, produced in the United States. The battalion was composed of three companies, each of which could operate autonomously to support ground forces operations. Some members of the unit, attached to Embakasi Air Base, participated in the coup attempt. But most of its personnel remained loyal, and a TOW missile launched from a Defender is credited with destroying the rebel communications center at the base. The present infantry Brigades of the Kenya Army evolved from regimental units, some of which were inherited from the Kings African Rifles, while others were formed soon after independence. The idea of re-organising the Kenya Army into formations was conceived in 1975 by the then Ministry of Defence, due to the growing instability of some countries within the East African region and the horn of Africa. The first Infantry Brigade was formed and deployed in Wajir town during the Ogaden War in 1977. The Brigade had a specific task of blocking the Western Somalia Liberation Front (WSLF)supported by the Somali National Army (SNA) from using Kenyan soil to cross into the Ogaden

The NA on the other hand is still struggling to set up an equivalent unit-AFTER ALL THIS TIME!?
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 7:12pm On Jul 25, 2021
With South African and Botswana Special Forces deployed to Mozambique, I think it's pertinent we look at their unique special forces vehicles starting with South-Africa.

Unlike Nigerian special forces units which are used primarily in attack roles, the main task of South-African special forces remains reconnaissance.

Other tasks undertaken by the unit included support of state departments, VIP protection or actions associated with external deployments; support of external operations; training teams and protection elements; and anti-rhino poaching.

The Hornet RDRV is a vehicle supplied to Special Forces for airborne use. It's a modular concept with removable platform.

There are three seats in the front, for a driver, a gunner and commander. The left-hand window can be lowered to carry a light machine gun (LMG) and the Hornet can carry a .50 calibre (12.7mm) heavy machine gun.

The top-mounted gun could vary anywhere between a 7.62 machine gun, all the way up to a 20 mm cannon.

Botswana Special Forces on the other hand use the Jankel LRPV

The FOX LRPV has been designed for reliability and performance over long-range missions.

The LRPV is built for manoeuvrability, making it ideal for a number of roles including surveillance, reconnaissance, fire support, force protection, convoy support and urban operations.

The FOX LRPV has been engineered to undertake military missions of up to 10 days or 1,500km, making it the ideal choice for missions where additional or unanticipated action is required.

They serve our needs pretty well since they are easy to maintain and operate. The upgraded ones are armed with AGM 65marverick which are also used on F 16 platforms.
